  • SPATZ Roadman 3 Overshoes - Are They Any Good?
    Welcome back to the channel. In this video, I’m taking a look at the SPATZ Roadman 3 Overshoes, and ask, are they any good?
    The points we look at are:
    Are they made well?
    Do they keep your feet warm?
    Do they keep your feet dry?
    Are they worth the money?
    How do you put them on?
    Chapters:
    00:00 - Intro & Overview
    01:48 - A Closer Look
    05:15 - Go For A Ride In The Rain
    06:42 - Test On The Bike
    08:21 - Summery
    I have no links or affiliation with SpatzWear. I purchased these overshoes with my own money, and this I’m nearly my own personal opinion on the product.

    Having only recently discovered your channel I almost wish I hadn't! Costing me a fortune in new kit :D These look just what I have been after, and bought some of their Long Merino socks to partner them.

      Welcome aboard! I know, drives you crackers doesn't it. Saying that though, the overshoes in this video have only just started to fail (Velcro lets go sometimes). And thats 3 years....... Or £33 per year, for the best overshoes you can get!!!
      I've got a pair of Pro Stealth sat under the desk, watch this space!!

    Got a set of these. Also the glovz and arm warmers. I swear by them now. No more miserable winter rides. Literally a game changer for riding in the depths of winter.

    Mornin john, just got my roadman 3s can they b dried on that shoe dryer u recomend, ive just ordered the dryer. Got the thermoz gloves all off ur recomendations. You are my go to chanel. Keep up the good work

      Hi Wayne, Welcome to the Spatz club.... the place of toasty feet 🤣. To be honest with you mate, I just chuck mine over a radiator. As long as the rad isn't crazy hot, they're fine. Not sure the shoe dryer would work, as the overshoes are floppy, and the heat would just go out the other end.
      Thrmoz gloves.... I even wear mine walking the dog!! You could probably dry them on the shoe dryer.
      Glad you're enjoying the channel. I wanted to get a Christmas gift idea in before Christmas...... but like just got in the way! Will be doing some detailed drivetrain maintenance videos in the new year though, so watch this space!
      Cheers,

    Thanks mate, that’s a great review! One question, how will it fits when you have big calves? Gr

    • @ribblevalleycyclist
      @ribblevalleycyclist  Год назад +1

      Hi Micheal,
      Very good question, and one I asked after seeing the size of the calves of the models on the Spatz website!
      I have large calves too, they’ve been the butt of many a joke. The Spatz are very stretchy in that area, and you won’t have any problem. As I say, I have very large calves (BMX byproduct!), and I have no issue. I can even get my hand down the side of them, if I need to.
      Hope this helps.
      Cheers,
      Jon.

    good review. Looked at these but accept most o/shoes are disposable and its the walking that destroys the toe box. if I was doing long rides, not much walking and didnt want to keep removing them these would be my choice. Dont forget the tights get wet and the water moves downwards. these cover that area prone to getting wet. Mudguards keep so much dirt off you and the bike

    • @ribblevalleycyclist
      @ribblevalleycyclist  Год назад

      The toe-box on these is super thick, so they're lasting longer than average. I do however also suspect that fewer cafe stops in the past 2 years has helped them. You're right Mark, in a real downpour, the water will wick down your tights into the overshoes. You do however find though, that the water is minimal, even in the heaviest of downpours. And that water warms up like it would in a wetsuit, so you don't get cold. The interesting thing is that you can get a bit wet even when it's dry, as they are very warm, and sweat gets trapped. I used my summer bike in this vid to demonstrate the overshoes. On the winter hack now with full mudguards...... this keeps things a lot dryer!!!

      @@ribblevalleycyclist if i was doing long rides eg 200km plus audax incl night rides I'd invest in a pair. Rather be warm and wet than cold/wet

    Do you wear these instead of your winter boots (that you mentioned in your top 10 video)? Can they go over your winter boots? I’ve got winter boots which are great to keep out the cold. But in heavy rain they fill with water from the tops.

    • @ribblevalleycyclist
      @ribblevalleycyclist  Год назад +1

      Hi Simon,
      I wear them whenever it rains. If it’s warm and raining, I wear my summer shoes under them, but if it’s cold, my winter boots go under them. Like you, the rain gets in the top of the boots. With the SPATZ, that just doesn’t happen.
      Hope that helps.
      Thanks.
      Jon

      @@ribblevalleycyclist thanks. That makes sense. It’s great that they fit over both your summer shoes and your winter boots. I’ll definitely check them out!

    Hello , are these overshoes also warm with temperatures -1 ? Because now I have gripgrab arctic but not so warm as I thought 😒 .

    • @ribblevalleycyclist
      @ribblevalleycyclist  Год назад +1

      Hi Vince,
      Yeah, really warm. That is the main reason I bought them. I used to wear two pairs of socks, winter boots, and overshoes. With these I wear one pair of socks, and summer shoes most of the time. I only wear winter boots when it gets stupid cold.
      I have never had cold feet wearing these overshoes.
      Thanks,
      Jon

    Avoid. Yes they stop most of the rain but you'll be lucky if they last 5 wears. Poorly made and they tear even if you're really careful when putting them on. Not well made especially as they are very expensive

    • @ribblevalleycyclist
      @ribblevalleycyclist  9 месяцев назад

      Couldn’t disagree more. Had mine 3 years, and have worn them for thousands of miles. Only issue is a small wear hole in the bottom of the toe box.
