  • Its obvious at this point that the big repair in Turkey was a total rip off. Its so easy to do with travelers. They never return to break your legs! All though I am tempted to go back and burn his workshop down. Come along as we limp through Europe.

      Hi, we never made it haha. Parma Italy was the last stop. Car will be demolished in Holland. So keep the covers haha. Thanks for checking in. There will be a new van build soon.

    My husband and I have been anxiously awaiting this video. We are so concerned about you. It's good to see Ken having a lot of laughs and fun on the trip. Keep on truckin' as they used to say back in the day. We are with you all the way, thinking of you.

    So happy to hear that, in the end, there wasn’t a major engine problem-phew! (i was really worried about bad news). I really hope the mechanic checks everything thoroughly before you take off. I can’t wait to see your next video-hopefully, you’ll be in France! 😊

    I'm really sorry to hear that the repair in Turkey didn’t go well. Maybe, as you said, it’s hard for travelers to go back, but nowadays, you can still share your experience-whether good or bad-through social media or other ways to give yourself some peace of mind.

      Super lucky. We could see another car that had to completely unpack. That would have been a nightmare in our case. A part from the repacking, the 6 months of medication for Ken alone could have been trouble.

    It's a delight to follow your adventures. Having myself lived abroad for nearly 30 years, I often get the itch to start all over again somewhere new and sunnier. Home now though is back in the land of my maternal side of the family, Newcastle in the UK. I hope that you get to your destination without any more breakdowns and that you will find another lovely place to call home.

    Amazing 💪🏽. My family and I have been following your journey for a while. Your 'grit' is truly inspirational.       Advice! Ikamet date approaching and waiting for a buyer. It drove us nuts! Just promote where you can. Aim for Turks. No foreigners entering and buying in Turkey at this point.

    We had the VW van towing experience as well. Crossing the U.S. and broke down in Nebraska in freezing weather for a week waiting parts. Good time to pray. lol

      @@AtHomeInTurkey I looked at Google Earth to see the distance being in Tasmania Australia but having gone to Germany and France in 1990 I couldnt remember the countries in between Turkey and France but wow that is a long trip but I hope will be exciting for you to see other places on the way to your new home. I have French and German DNA so I like your moving to France and hope will be a nice retirement.

    You will get there...eventually! You probably know that T4's are still much sought after for restoration, so maybe sell Big Red on rather than scrap him, if that is your intention. Hope both of you're spirits are staying buoyant! 🙏🙏

    I think your internet problem could be a setting within the phone. I can't remember what it is, but it happened to me when I drove from Italy into France. Soŕry I can't hepl more, but go through the phone's internet settings.

      Haha don't forget I did 30.000 k with it before so it should work. If the mechanic in Turkey had done a better job we might have been fine. Plus in Turkey cars are ridiculously expensive. We did not have 10.000 euro to spend on a var we can not keep. Sad but trough.

      Because of the nature and the village lifestyle. It's the current dictator that brings the whole county down. I feel mostly for the Turks. They can not leave so easily.
