But Constance, endowed with thoughts and feelings, longs to explore the outside world. She forms a friendship with Will, the son of Spindlewood’s dressmaker. I am based in London and saw the original production at the Landor Theatre. I actually went because I knew Michael Webborn (the composer) and felt it right to support him. I assumed it would be okay. I was so wrong. It was brilliant. I have seen the show a number of times and even seen a couple of concert versions. To praise the music: it has such life. The melodies get stuck in my head. In a day or two I will be cursing your video. To praise the lyrics: The rhymes are true. When Abraham realises that Constance can think, he could have used the word, 'sentient'. Daniel Finn doesn't use that word, he uses 'cognative' - brilliant. Since 24th May 2015 this has been my favourite new musical
