John Arden (1930-2012) was a British dramatist, noted for his politically challenging and linguistically rich plays in the tradition of Brecht; he has written for radio and television as well as for the stage. After 1965 he collaborated on many works with his wife, the Irish playwright Margaretta D'Arcy. Arden's first professionally produced play was a radio drama, The Life of Man, broadcast in 1956. It was during the 1960s that Arden produced most of his major stage works; these include The Happy Haven (1960), The Workhouse Donkey (1963), which concerns municipal corruption in Arden's native Barnsley, Armstrong's Last Goodnight (1964), which drew parallels between contemporary political events in the Congo and machinations in medieval Scotland, and Left-Handed Liberty (1965). Thank you so much ma'am for this amazing session!💞♥️💖🥰

    Dear all,
This is my success story dedicated to our dear Kalyani Mam.
I was attempting since 2014, everytime i lost in points difference.
I passed NET this time just because of our dear Mam !!!
I had reached a point in life where every hope ended, at an age of 29 still jobless and desperatly struggling behind my dream. I always dreamed to become an Assistant Professor in English.
One day, i came across Mams free RUclips videos. I was financially not well enough to get paid online courses then. The videos helped me a lot to clear the concepts.
Mams explanations & examples, tips & motivation, all made the classes wonderfull!
Gradually i started attending Mams Everyday @ 8 & @10 courses, Udemy lecturers and studied almost all materials Mam provided.
The situations were not at all favourable. To be precise like many of us faced, exam center was at a long distance, computers jammed multiple times, questions were quite tricky. Besides these my parents were affected by covid during my exam preparation days.
However i did my best under Mams guidance & motivation.
Miracles occured on the result declaration day once i checked the site i couldnt believe my eyes. I passed !!! That feeling is really great! My life changed exactly from that moment. All the past pains vanished for future smiles.
I attained this just because of Mam. Every year Mam has a bunch of successful students who spreads her fame and make her proud.
This time i am really blessed to be one among them to share with you all my success story dedicated to our dear Kalyani Vallath Mam.
Thanks a lot Mam for being the guiding light amidst the encircling gloom in our lives.
May God almighty give you all blessings to continue your mission of enlightening young souls towards wisdom in the coming decades ahead !!!
I am 100% sure that many of you will be writing your success stories here when next NET exam results are announced.
We are all really blessed to get such an inspirational teacher to guide us.
May God Bless You all to attain your dream very soon!!!

15:24 In Tom Stoppard's play Indian Ink, the character Nirad Das explains the classical Indian theory of nine rasas, which are essential emotional tones in art. He elaborates on the concept of Shringara, the rasa of erotic love, detailing its associations with the god Vishnu and the color blue-black. Nirad articulates that Shringara requires a lover and their beloved, and it can be evoked by elements such as the moon or the scent of sandalwood. This explanation highlights the interplay between emotion and artistic expression, which is central to the narrative of the play.

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead is a 1966 absurdist tragicomedy by Tom Stoppard. The play depicts the story of Hamlet from the perspective of two minor characters, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, who are childhood friends of Prince Hamlet. Throughout the play, the two characters engage in philosophical discussions while struggling to understand their purpose and the events unfolding around them, ultimately leading to their deaths as the play aligns with the original Shakespearean tragedy.

'Early Morning' (1968) is a surrealist farce by Edward Bond. The play takes place in the court of Queen Victoria who is portrayed as a lesbian. Her two sons are made conjoined twins. This made the play extremely scandalous, as did a scene in which the character Len eats another person standing in a queue in front of him

In "The Workhouse Donkey," John Arden critiques societal corruption through a satirical lens, showcasing the struggles of the working class against the backdrop of municipal politics. The play highlights the hypocrisy of polite society, where characters grapple with their moral failings and the systemic injustices that oppress them. Arden's use of humor and vulgarity serves to expose the absurdity of social norms and the complicity of individuals in perpetuating corruption, ultimately questioning the integrity of those in power and the societal structures that uphold inequality.

Thank you mam for these videos. You always say that My method is LAAYERING. But I would say that you are peeling the 'Layers of Ignorance' through your these videos. In the beginning of video you asked "All of you know Edward Bond",,then I said to myself "No I don't..and then when I watched it for 2nd time then I said happily"Yes I know his name".
'INDIAN INK' was first made for radio with name 'In the Native State'. Later it was adapted into the stage play 'INDIAN INK' in which Nirad is an Indian who meets Flora Crewe and explains her the classical theory of NINE RASAS which are tonal schemes uniting all forms of art.
The play's title refers to Shringara, the rasa of erotic love, which is associated with an inky blue-black colour and the god Krishna, who is always painted with dusky blue skin.

Important Facts about Theatre of the Absurd--
    1. The mechanical nature of people’s lives may lead them to question the value and purpose of their existence.
    2. The recognition that time is a destructive force.
    3. A sense of being left in an alien world.
    4. A sense of isolation from other things.
    5. The Theatre of the absurd is, therefore, involved in the problems. of life, death, isolation and communication.
    6. In an Absurd drama, the hero suffers from the of absurdity. He is presented as a mechanical puppet and individual trapped in society, trying to find a meaning through the methods of myth and ritual, but doomed to failure.
    7. An Absurd drama has no story or plot; it has neither a beginning nor an end it is not a mirror of the age; it is rather a reflection of dreams and nightmares. It has no pointed of dialogues; it rather consists incoherent babblings.
    8. Thus the absurd drama is one of the ways of facing upto a universe that has lost its meaning and purpose. Its role as satirical because it criticises society that is petty and dishonest.
    9. John Osborne’s Look Back in Anger opened a new period in modern drama. Harold Painter’s dramatic work is named as comedy of menac and its allied with the theatre of the Absurd.
