I started tapping (wearing tennis shoes) about 4 weeks ago & got tap shoes for Christmas! This video is great. It’s pretty challenging for me as a beginner but I enjoy doing the moves over & over until I get it. Thanks for posting this class!
Haven't tapped in over 20 years - got some shoes and a floor during quarantine and your video has been a life saver! Thank you so much for posting. You're an amazing teacher - wish I could go to your classes in person, but at least this way I'm not throwing anyone off when I miss a step (or 5 lol).
This is GREAT! I recently bought myself a pair of tap shoes and a small practice floor, in order to get back into tapping during COVID-19 here in NYC. Thanks so much for making this available!
I live in the middle of no where. I’ve been wanting and asking for virtual classes for years. Guess there’s one kinda of “good thing” about Covid. All of these amazing virtual classes are so readily available. So fun. And I love how you broke down the steps. Thank you!
I really want to do this!!!!!!!!!!! I took dance classes when young. I keep thinking I'd rather take a class in person but why not get started now? I plan to buy one of those tap dancing boards. If anyone has a suggestion for the best one to buy please comment here. Thanks.
This is amazing. I'd really like to learn, sadly in my country it's almost impossible to find someone. So thank you for sharing, this is the only kind of dance I like. Greetings from Argentina, you're great
Great ideas for exercises. Wish the cueing was better (how many you’re doing of each before you start or just before you switch). Will jerk at it, thanks!
I have been wanting to get back into tap dancing! I took tap when I was a child. It gave me so much joy, and I think I’m ready to start dancing again! 🧡
Love this! Tap shoes are in the mail. Would you please type info on the practice floor you are using and the other brands you recommended? You spoke quickly as you described them and I didn’t understand. Many thanks. Rekindling my tap passion from years ago! 😍
another great video! thank you for making dance accessible to people. definitely a challenge, but it was really fun to push myself and work on the moves! i've been wanting to learn a suzy q for ages, so this video really is a dream come true!
I've never in my life had a dance class without queuing! Too hard to follow...been doing tap for a good 20 years, but teachers always give a heads up what is coming next and why
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I haven’t tapped in a very long time and have had hip surgery. This was my first attempt at starting again and I enjoyed it very much. And the puppies were an added bonus! Thank you!
hi, how do you manage the impact on your hips? I have scoliosis and back pain and I'm a bit worried about hurting myself. is this helping you to get stronger again? I just took my tap shoes out of the drawer and thinking about it.. lol. thanks in advance
@@Zal1810 I went to physical therapy for a year and they helped me with moves to get me ready for impact activities like tap and running. I’d either find a local PT or try and see if there’s something on RUclips.
Hi. Begginer here. Nice lesson. Thank you very much. One "advice", you should add the word jazz to the tutorial.. i been serching for jazz tutorials and wasnt easy.
I’ve been searching tonight for a RUclips trainer who is somewhere between beginner and intermediate because I think I can catch on quicker than the beginning ones but I still need to be brought through The song in A slower and well explained way. I am subscribing to your channel because this was exactly what I was looking for
How do I watch just your video lessons as the others are not nearly as easy to follow! I subscribed to the channel but got lots of other instructors and classes including ballet. Thanks FYI love your teaching!!!!!
Yeah, because for beginners, you don’t put it all together. You just do sets of flaps. Then you do sets of shuffles then you do sets of ball change then you do two together that’s like a class. She’s doing intermediate class absolutely not a beginner class definitely not.
Your lessons are great. You explain well, slow it down enough then with the music. Also like your choice of music. Haven’t tapped in over 30 yrs and started up again (in my motorhome) thanks to youtube. A huge thank you.
I used to take tap lessons back in the 90’s, and decided yesterday to start back up. My son bought me some new shoes and I’ll start by doing this video series as soon as they get here! I’m so excited.
I love your class! I have a question just to clarify- after the first 2 paradiddles it looks like you need to step on your right foot before starting the 2 drawbacks with left foot. So it’s an extra step in there??
Stacey G a tap floor will give best results but some slabs of clean cut wood would work fine. Tapping on tile just makes really loud unpleasant sounds but if it is all you have it could work. Just don’t use your normal wooden floor it can damage the floor or even the taps. MOST IMPORTANTLY do not tap on CONCRETE it will ruin your taps.
Kara's beginner beginner classes are so good I'm ready for advanced beginner. Progress! Using the instruction from Artisan daily. Enjoying my first go at adv. beg. very much, it's helping me get up to speed for my live class. Thanks so much for posting.
Hi Molly -- I use "Charleston" by James P. Johnson, "Blues in Hoss's Flat" by Count Basie, and "Stompin and Jumping" also by Count Basie. These are my go to warm up songs. The combo is "Steam Heat" from Fosse!
This is for beginners?? I Guess i am pre-beginner
Same I did it in slow mo
This is NOT beginners class because I took tap for 10 years and this is what I was doing when I was like 9 or 10 and I started at 3 and I was good

Ok so as watching…you are explaining..I’m looking for a 20-30 minute tap workout..not actually learning to tap dance..
Where do i get a dance board like the one your tapping on? Thank you
Hi! Can anyone please recommend a portable board for my home use? Some of these are so expensive! I dont know what kind to get. Thank you!
Please please please do more exactly like this!!! You're the BEST teacher and the tap level is perfect for watching again and again.
Do you have a spotify playlist for tap class you could share?
You have me tap dancing again. Thank you!!!
Pls tell us what steps are coming next when it starts speeding up with some graphics. :)

Could you recommend a tap shoe. Thanks

Capezios are a classic go to, good quality. I got their Cadence ones (they fit the best for me)

Do I need to purchase a practice floor for tap dancing? We have tile flooring in our home? Can I just tap dance on that?
