Been a good 20 years since my last fish tank, bought a few on sale black Friday:) You are one of my favorites now researching here on youtube, thank you so much for all the knowledge you teach:)
I didn’t get to watch this video right away but it was because I was at the Boston Aquarium!! 🤩 It was my first time going back as an adult and a fish keeper. They don’t have many freshwater setups but the ones they do have are fantastic!!!! They have two or three GIANT freshwater riparian enclosures!! They were all fantastic but I absolutely loved one with cardinal tetras, Adolfo corys, bleeding heart tetras, and discus 😍 I had fun spotting the odds and ends in that tank. There were a few schwartz corys, otos, pencil fish, bristlenoses, a pair of geophagus, AND A PYTHON!! It was soooo cool because the snake lived up in the land area with live plants and then there’s about 5’x5’x5’ of water, if I had to guess, and the corys were finishing off an old snake shed! How cool!!!! There was also a type of fish I didn’t recognize. It was like halfway between a goby and an SAE. They weren’t all labeled. Oh and there was a turtle in there too 😂 Huge, beauuuutiful set up. Very inspiring. I could type a novel about all the fish there but I’ll stop 😜
Those neons get me everytime. Agree about the greater number of a species vs the greater number of species. I cant wait to move to a place to get bigger tanks to get bigger numbers.
Great video and beautiful tanks. More videos of them would be fine. Watching the fish in an environment where they are happy and at ease is very relaxing for us to watch, isn't it? I find inner peace watching my fish. Keep up the good work Rachel.
This was a treat. My favorite tank, the hillstream, and my second favorite the 75g nano in one video...yay! I'd love you to do a deep dive into each tank and talk about the stock and why you chose each particular species in that tank. 👍💕👍
I look forward to getting results from the lab on the diseased shrimp. Let me know if you guys looking at these tanks close up and personal in the longer format! My goal and dream is to achieve the beauty and sublime ecosystems you so beautifully create Rachel. I am improving every year, thank you so much again for your inspiration, your teachings, and your transparency.
It's super cool seeing all these different types of loaches and gobies... some of which I've never seen before. I'd love to sit in front of a tank like that! Gobies are so cute, like that guy at 5:52 with the black by his eye. What were you blurring out? Some sort of plant or fish you're not ready to reveal yet!?
All your tanks are amazing!!! I love going through your videos!!! Gave me so much inspiration last summer. And have more plans this summer!!! Thank you for being you haha!!
Longer videos of fish? Who wouldnt want that. I would love to hear more about all that your working on. Don't forget about your monster fish, love seeing your bichirs
Wow Rachel thats great to hear from you! I like your video you made Intressting and fun and learnable Thank you for sharing your knowledge it's always Intressting and fun! Keep it up and take care Rachel from your friend Mikael! 😎👍
This tank is so beautiful! I can't wait to see your plans for after the holidays. Your Sera o-nip tab tip at 3:18 is a great recommendation, it is very important to get a good look at your fish's physical condition. Great work Rachel!
Always enjoy your videos and viewing your aquariums. Learn so much! On a side note, I've noticed you have a hatchet fish tattoo on your shoulder. I have five in my 36 gal bowflex. They are cool little critters! Really like them. So far none have taken wing and "flown" out of the tank, though I know they could. Thank you for all you share, you are appreciated!
I loved that pan up to the cory hanging out at the top with the pencil fish, just doing whatever it pleases without regard to where it's 'supposed' to be. :-)
You could try the neon green rasbora in the hillstream😀 (microdevario kubotai) you said that maybe you would put them in the 150 in their spotlight video. I would surely love those long format videos about each individual tank!
I just got my Apistos for my 150l tank. I've got some Bronze cory's in there as well (who just laid a ton of eggs on the rear glass in the tank), and some male Endler's to be the dither fish in the tank... although they seem to be annoying my LITTLE Apistos a bit. I've also my CRS start hatching their eggs over the last couple of days. I'm wish that I'd a camera out while feeding the fish this evening. One of my Pygmy Cory's was just sitting there minding it's own business and one of the baby shrimp landed on it's back and scared the shit out of it :D I was planning on draining most of the water out of the pygmy cory tank this weekend, but with the arrival of the baby shrimp, I might have to leave it for a couple of weeks now!
Wow! Both aquariums are so amazing ! I like this type of video ... the longer individual tank where you speak about each species and plant. Love love love both these tanks!
I absolutely love your 75 gal nano. I ended up doing the same thing, (never seen this before today). Mine has neon tetras as well, but your green neons are superior. I want some! I also have an apistogramma as well, double red. I have pencil fish as well but differ from yours. My pencils have a single vertical stripe. I had a bunch of crashed airplanes 😉 a.k.a. banjo catfish. I should upload a video.
Totally agree about automation in tank maintenance. It definitely has its place to be sure, but nothing can compare to regular personal inspection and interaction with your tanks. Btw, I'm always interested in stiphodon related videos. 👍
It was blurred out at the beginning of the video and its a very rocky scape. Possibly a high velocity hillstream or a return to the wonderful birthday tank that had a disastrous end. I think we may be in store for a Xmas surprise! ( please be nano Tanganyikans.... please be nano tanganyikans...)
I love your tanks! Ive been watching ever since joey got me to check you out. I love love love the gobies!!! I really want to get some...thank you for all your content!
My husband and I are setting up a 55 gal tank. We both love the small colorful fish. I would love to know how you determine how many of each type and the number of each school... I love seeing all of your tank, so an in depth look at each one would be amazing.... Thank you for sharing
I have always loved the Hillstream tank, it inspired us to set up a dirt planted 40 breeder we call Shrimp heaven a couple years ago. Densely planted with nano fish, Cherry shrimp , Blue Belly Gobies, Zebra loaches, and Bamboo shrimp just to name a few and it's our favorite. I like in depth videos on the individual tanks. Thank you for the inspiration and Happy Holidays !
I'm so in love with that hillstream tank, and the species in it, it's my goal to keep one when I have the room in a couple of years (keeping my fingers crossed). I'm curious how often you feed your tanks...? I see so many opinions about this on the interwebs. It seems anywhere from every 2-3 days to several times a day is advised, and I'm constantly wondering if I'm underfeeding or overfeeding. I would love to see videos that delve into the minutiae of each tank, that includes how many of each species you prefer to stock, and how you determine maximum capatibilty.
I hope you find a cure for that fungus on the shrimp! It looks quite nasty. I am totally going to do what you suggested with having fewer species in greater numbers. I have two 40gals (one is a long the other is a breeder) and I've been thinking of rescaping them since they've had pretty much the same set up for a year or so and with that I'm going to add to the species I already have rather than getting another species to try out. One tank will be what they call a jungle tank and the other I'm hoping to create a sandy/rocky stream or river type of vibe. Got crazy inspiration when I saw that tank under your hillstream tank. The one with all the rocks and the root like branches. That looked amazing! But I don't remember seeing it before. Would love a closer look at that one for sure!!
Rachel, you can feed grazers like Sewellia outside of the water, way easier and cleaner than feeding pills or the like and more reliant than waiting for algae (see two videos on my channel) I haven't tried this with Gastromyzons but i guess it should work with most grazers that aren't too shy. HTH
Hey Rachel!! Love the videos! I think more in-depth videos on all the tanks would help people wanting to replicate these masterpieces that we all love. I think a small species of darter (not the endangered ones) would be very beautiful in this aquarium!
Ok here goes ,, im in the process of waiting for my 55 gallon juwel lido cube that is planted and will be a loosly based black water tank , with penty of biomedia in the filter . I love your way and how you teach the hobby , im relearnig after 30 years away ,,, most thanks to you ,, who i belive stands above the rest here on you tube , yoour ethics are sound and make so much sense ,, i want to keep a shoal of Green neon 20 , Pygmy Corys 10 , Lampeye 12 . 3 otos ,,, male and female Appisto cockatoo . after my cycle is done , who would you introduce first ? . id love to hear more about your 75 south american community and your apistos ,,,,
i've just discovered you and your awesome fish. I love your videos ...sometimes though...i cannot quite understand the name of the fish you name off..and the automated closed captioning doesn't get it either. .....I'm got a notebook i'm keeping and taking notes on your tanks and what fish you keep together in one tank...what you feed them..etc. Your fascinating!
So, what am I up to...my Parosphromenus deissneri have settled in and have acclimated well...discovered that I actually have 7 not 6, ... My Mikrogeophagus ramirezi fry, two from the first clutch are growing the Parents layed another clutch last night well over 300 eggs last evening, and as of this morning decided not to eat them...Picked up some N. eques, last week and they are still shy but are feeding and doing well.......Love seeing your tanks... Thanks for the time and effort!
I always thought you had schistura loaches in the hillstream? Schistura baltea would be a great addition also the redtail schistura but I think there's definitely enough space and hiding spots to get away with a handful of different schistura species
Just bought two cobalt gobies. So fun to watch jumping into sponge filter bubble stream! Please can you tell me the crustacean thing you talked about. Or is it something they graze on like biofilm. Sounds like offwoks? Sorry couldn't pick it up. Thank you.
The new lighting on the 75 seemed a bit too white to me. Could just be the camera and may look better in person. I'm interested to see what you discover with changing the lights as I also have algae problems that arrived after I went to LED lights. Love the tanks like this one videos where you spotlight them in detail!
The " Nano tank" would just pop a little more with some glowlight tetras.... I think they would match the laser cory's and maybe keep your green neons out a little more because they aren't as shy..... I know they are so common but I think they would be perfect! 😁😁🎏🎏
Rachel O'Leary, I just found a new loach yesterday and I don't know what kind it is. I was wondering if you could help me identify it. It is shaped like a dojo but it is solid black except for it's barbels which are bright orange. Would you happen to know what kind it is? Could it possibly be a dojo or do they only come in the golden form?
Been a good 20 years since my last fish tank, bought a few on sale black Friday:) You are one of my favorites now researching here on youtube, thank you so much for all the knowledge you teach:)
Best of luck with the new tank!

Tanks all look great. I love that Dward Cichlid! Good advice as always, thanks.
I would love to see a deep dive into each of your tanks. Glad to know a university is researching that horrid disease.
Would love to see longer videos of each of your tanks. Your tanks look amazing and I'm really trying to figure out your secret.
I've had that fungus-thingy as well on my RCS, please do a follow up if the university find any cure!
absolutely!
i could just sit and watch that aquarium - love the diversity
Those neons get me everytime.
Agree about the greater number of a species vs the greater number of species. I cant wait to move to a place to get bigger tanks to get bigger numbers.
Great video and beautiful tanks. More videos of them would be fine. Watching the fish in an environment where they are happy and at ease is very relaxing for us to watch, isn't it? I find inner peace watching my fish. Keep up the good work Rachel.
1:36, bottom right tank. Can't wait for that video!!!!
The iridescence on that goby @ 2:37 is amazing!!!
I just love the 150 G tank, it's so full of life.
The 175 G nano tank is also a favorite, love the new lighting and that apistogramma xP
Yes, would love a longer format on individual aquariums. I've sorta got a liken your spiny loaches. And the apistos are beautiful! 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿✨🌿
I love to see your 150 gallon tank, it is so calming. Thank you!
Awe,poor babies ....I hope they can pinpoint the issues with the shrimp....water change day tomorrow for my tanks ....have a great day !! 🎄❄️⛄
Love this aquarium and your longer videos about one aquarium is a wonderful idea makes me feel like I am actually there.
This was a treat. My favorite tank, the hillstream, and my second favorite the 75g nano in one video...yay!
I'd love you to do a deep dive into each tank and talk about the stock and why you chose each particular species in that tank.
👍💕👍
Oh those Apisto really tempt me, your 75 Nano is perfect
Boy would i love to see a large school of Celestichthys choprae in the hillstream tank 😍
Its cool that you are sending shrimp off for science. Hope it helps the hobby.
You should add panda garras, saddleback loaches, desert gobies to your 150 hillstream tank
❤ I love this tank! Thanks for the update 👍
Love the 75g nano tank & would love to see an in-depth video on it. Really I'd watch one on any of your tanks. Love that gratuitous fish footage! 💜
I enjoy the maintenance as well. I've learned so much from your videos 🐌
I look forward to getting results from the lab on the diseased shrimp. Let me know if you guys looking at these tanks close up and personal in the longer format!

Love your tanks and your beautiful fish!
Nice to see changes working out so well! I need to get more green neons. Love them and the sparkling gourami in low light 😁
Thank You, I also fill that few types of fish in a tank is better as well as getting fish young and seeing them grow up is the best ever.
My goal and dream is to achieve the beauty and sublime ecosystems you so beautifully create Rachel. I am improving every year, thank you so much again for your inspiration, your teachings, and your transparency.
Yes, I would love a deeper dive into some of these aquariums. That hillstream tank never gets old.
Love the Apisto and the green neons really pop. I just added Apistos in my tank today.
It's super cool seeing all these different types of loaches and gobies... some of which I've never seen before. I'd love to sit in front of a tank like that! Gobies are so cute, like that guy at 5:52 with the black by his eye.

Good luck on your shrimp research. Your hill stream is my favorite. I love them all, but the hill stream is so cool.
I loved this video. I like the more focused types of videos like this as well as zeroing in on a fish or family.
Gosh those lovely Green Neons.
More Rainbow shiners! They are so pretty and active, I think they make a good contrast with the gobis.
Wow Rachel thats great to hear from you!
I like your video you made Intressting and fun and learnable Thank you for sharing your knowledge it's always Intressting and fun!
Keep it up and take care Rachel from your friend Mikael! 😎👍
those apistos are so cool!
your work is so inspiring!
Beautiful tanks! Such inspiration. I got green neons for my blackwater a couple months back and they are one of my favs 😍
This tank is so beautiful! I can't wait to see your plans for after the holidays. Your Sera o-nip tab tip at 3:18 is a great recommendation, it is very important to get a good look at your fish's physical condition. Great work Rachel!
that new tank below the hillstream looks amazing!
Thank you so much for your contribution Rachel.. Have a wonderful year 2020 you and your family...
💐💐💐

Love your tanks, and such a wide variety of types of fish, many I have never seen before. I greatly enjoy any vids you put out.
Thanks Rachel..🎄

Absolutely agree, less species - more numbers. For every style tank. Great video Rachel. That's my fav tank too.
I would love to see more in depth videos for your tanks.
I absolutely love your 75 gal nano. I ended up doing the same thing, (never seen this before today). Mine has neon tetras as well, but your green neons are superior. I want some! Rachel that tile cracked me up. Love your show.
Yes Rachel, this is what we want to see! Bring it on, I am loving it. Thanks!
Btw, what type of Apistogramma was that again?
Totally agree about automation in tank maintenance. It definitely has its place to be sure, but nothing can compare to regular personal inspection and interaction with your tanks. Btw, I'm always interested in stiphodon related videos. 👍
The empty tank on the bottom right with all that rock and driftwood looks really cool. Is that just for storage or a work in progress?
It was blurred out at the beginning of the video and its a very rocky scape. Possibly a high velocity hillstream or a return to the wonderful birthday tank that had a disastrous end.
I think we may be in store for a Xmas surprise! ( please be nano Tanganyikans.... please be nano tanganyikans...)
The new lighting on the 150 looks great.
Great video, as always 👍 75g nano is my favourite, but all aquariums are beautiful 😊
You can try Sicyopterus gobies, which do get a bit large but are pretty fun to keep. Also Glyptothorax catfish.
I love your tanks! Ive been watching ever since joey got me to check you out. I love love love the gobies!!! I really want to get some...thank you for all your content!
I think that is a great idea.

LOVE that hillstream community! :D

I would love to see videos that delve into the minutiae of each tank, that includes how many of each species you prefer to stock, and how you determine maximum capatibilty.
You need to add some Sewelia liniata to you hillstream tank. Awesome little flat fish
It has two species of sewellia, including lineolata :)
I hope you find a cure for that fungus on the shrimp! It looks quite nasty. I am totally going to do what you suggested with having fewer species in greater numbers. Love your tanks!!! Just got a 125G and can’t wait to set it up like one of the ones you showed :)
"Let me know if you would like to know more abou"....YES, PLEASE! ALL THE KNOWLEDGE!
Everything looks so good. Just curious, what was blurred out?
Nice tanks!
I mean, I'm good if you just do a hillstream tank video every time :) I love that tank, it's been a big inspiration to me.

Ok here goes ,, im in the process of waiting for my 55 gallon juwel lido cube that is planted and will be a loosly based black water tank , with penty of biomedia in the filter .
I love your way and how you teach the hobby , im relearnig after 30 years away ,,, most thanks to you ,, who i belive stands above the rest here on you tube , yoour ethics are sound and make so much sense ,,
i want to keep a shoal of Green neon 20 , Pygmy Corys 10 , Lampeye 12 .

What to say? As allways great job, Rachel.
Your 75 nano is one of my favorite! I intend to mimiick it as much as possible in my 60 tall.... it's this highest form of flattery right? LOL
100%. Very sincere! Holler if you need any insight
I always thought you had schistura loaches in the hillstream? Schistura baltea would be a great addition also the redtail schistura but I think there's definitely enough space and hiding spots to get away with a handful of different schistura species
Can't wait to find out the results of the shrimp analysis, I love stuff like that (don't love it for the animals but it fascinates me)
Inspiring tanks
Love Apisto's
have you thought about mottled sculpin the fresh water native sculpin ?
I like the little tubes on the floor of the 75g. What are they? They almost look like amphoras from an ancient Greek shipwreck or something.
Msjinnkzd, another quality vid! thank you. What are the black barred fish at the top of the second tank?
Barred pencilfish, nannostomus espei
@@RachelOLeary thank you !!
Just bought two cobalt gobies. So fun to watch jumping into sponge filter bubble stream! Please can you tell me the crustacean thing you talked about. Or is it something they graze on like biofilm. Sounds like offwoks? Sorry couldn't pick it up. Thank you.
Rainbow darters is a nice one lives with the shiners together i believe
The new lighting on the 75 seemed a bit too white to me. Could just be the camera and may look better in person. I'm interested to see what you discover with changing the lights as I also have algae problems that arrived after I went to LED lights. Love the tanks like this one videos where you spotlight them in detail!
Those apistos 😍
Please get some pseudogastromyzon laticeps---the purple fins are just crazy!
There are bamboo shrimp, keep watching ;) laticeps are an excellent suggestion
Fantastic ,,,,,
The " Nano tank" would just pop a little more with some glowlight tetras.... I think they would match the laser cory's and maybe keep your green neons out a little more because they aren't as shy..... I know they are so common but I think they would be perfect! 😁😁🎏🎏
May I know why you keep a egg crate under your gravel.
And by the way those apistos are great.
Big rocks and loaches which dig
Rachel, do you keep any rainbow fish?
How often do you give live food ? Or ever ?
Rachel O'Leary, I just found a new loach yesterday and I don't know what kind it is. I was wondering if you could help me identify it. It is shaped like a dojo but it is solid black except for it's barbels which are bright orange. Would you happen to know what kind it is? Could it possibly be a dojo or do they only come in the golden form?
