CALISTHENICS LEG WORKOUT - Bodyweight Only Leg Day | Day One

  • Leg day trisets!!!
    Using only our bodyweight as resistance… these 40 minutes will demand so much from your quads, hamstrings, glutes and calves! This calisthenics workout is not easy…but it is fun! Focusing on muscular endurance, increasing strength and a chance to perfect your technique and deepen that range of motion! Leg day let’s do this!!
    For those who are even seasoned lifters and have been lifting for a long period, this bodyweight leg workout might appear easy… it’s not! You’ll love it!
    All you will need is your body well warmed up, your mat and a chair for Bulgarian lunges!
    This workout is packed with my favourite movements… Bulgarian lunges, kneeling to squat and rear step lunges!
    The timer will be on for 45 seconds each exercise, with 30 seconds rest between each triset! We will complete each triset for 2 sets!
    BULGARIAN LUNGE
    HOLD - PULSE - FULL RANGE!
    HEEL ELEVATED SQUATS
    1/2 REPS - HOLD- FULL RANGE!
    LUNGE TO RDL - KNEE TUCK - LUNGE!
    KNEEL TO SQUAT - SIDE STEP - STAG SQUAT
    ELEVATED LUNGE 1/2 REP - HOLD - REAR STEP LUNGE!
    CURTSEY LUNGE - HOLD - CURTSEY TO LUNGE!
    SQUAT ON TOES
    1/2 REPS - HOLD - FULL RANGE!
    The finisher was complete 🔥🔥🔥!! I hope you find this as challenging as I did!! Perform each rep the best that you can… largest range of motion, controlled, correct alignment and posture!

    I just finished and I currently want to cry. I am starting to find out that Caroline’s workouts often leave me feeling that way or even in the midst of it. You know, the type of “I can’t take this anymore” type of cry. Half way through I had to think about my life 😂. I didn’t think I could finish it…but I did. Praise God. Now I’m going to go lay on my bed and softly cry as I figure out how I’m going to make it through the rest of the day as it’s only 5:18am and I still have to work.

    Third time coming back to this video. Thought after I finished the Beastmode series I’d be so much more fit I’d knock this out easy. At 70% I saw god. At 80% the room began to spin and at 90% and 99% I thought I might legitimately pass out and crumple on the floor. 10/10 got be the most hardcore workout in the catalogue.

    I do this workout a couple times a month and it never gets easier. This is by far one of the most effective leg workouts ever

      @@istalkghosts497it’s definitely an effective workout, though it won’t help if you’re only doing it twice a month, I’d recommend 2-3 times a week

    This made me sweat, I had to take short breaks, and it hurt but in a good way lol! As one who lifts weights, this was a great reminder of how powerful our body weight can be.

      I hope you kept training! Motherhood is hard, as is fatherhood, weight gain in the furst few years for both parents is crazy, I speak from experience. I am a former bodybuilder, martail artist , father and husband.
      After having my kids , training became harder , as time wad tight and being home was more important. Then having easier foods to eat around the house for the kids, time lines between work , kids , cleaning and cooking got super insane, so snacking became my regular, sane with my wife, less and less time in the gym , less sleep, and quickly i lost my size and build, I didn't get fat, I got skinny and My wife got heavy.
      I did get back, which was much harder then I had told myself it would be. Drive wasn't the same, time wasn't the same , and energy just wasn't there , so it tool time , and I also bought home equipment to avoid driving and be abke to make my workouts closer and easier to get to.
      Bodyweight is tough, for awhile, but your still young and after 6 months to a year, you'll be training to keep what you have rather then gain anything. Despite popular belief, you won't become manly lol, in fact women be one much more curvy and built as a woman should be, muscke building is about hormones and eating, so if you don't take male hormones or eat to get big, you won't, you'll get stronger , and the muscke will build around your hips , legs , and glutes, where a man builds more around his chest and arms , and legs tighten and become muscked but lean, of course I'm speaking natural bodybuilding.
      The only reason I said something to you is because I watched my wife struggle even more then me. My goals were fat higher then hers , but just to return to base after years of not training and living the parent life, it was extremely hard for her to get back, so I always encourage young moms to jump to it while your still young and years don't pile up making your journey back so hard.
      Now I didn't care if my wife ever went back, she is akways beautiful to me, the mother of my babies , my anchor to the world, but I know SHE cared, and seeing her struggle made me understand how hard women can have it after sacrificing themselves to give life to the world, so I akways want to let women know they are more then abke to get back, and quite easy if they do it soon, and aren't looking to be bodybuilders , 20 minutes 3 times a week and you can look the same way you did at 20 forever!

      I know this is an old comment, but thank you for the motivation! I'd been doing her epic series videos every day for about 6months before I got pregnant, then the morning sickness kicked in and I've been a blob for 2 months. I got the courage up to try without weights so I hope I manage this series c:

    Amazing as usual. This one's my go-to for days when I'm a little stressed and/or can't physically complete some of the other workouts in Epic 3 but want to get a bit of a leg day in. It still gives a crazy burn and a challenge while helping me to connect with my body. I don't know what it is but something about this particular workout does it for me. I feel so strong afterward. I love how Caroline gives everyone options to help them listen to their individual bodies. If for some reason we can't complete the given exercises of the day, we have a multitude of other options to choose from due to her generosity and creativity. It's been a blessing. I love how everyone here is so positive and kind, too. What a great environment. We all come from different backgrounds/cultures/countries and have different bodies/life experiences/goals/stories but we can all inspire each other. Amazing! xoxo

    OMG, my legs were burning!!! I started doing this routine before going to sleep and I have to go to bed now. I did 25 minutes, but woman I won't give up. Tomorrow I'll come back and do the 40 minutes. And I discovered your calisthenic sessions today! Thank you very much, I'm sure they will be great. I'll make them this week. You're great!!!!

    I could only do 25 mins of this! My legs never felt this way throughout Epic 1 and half of Iron. They wouldn't budge anymore, what a workout! Hope to complete this some day 🦵

    Nah…. Girlfriend does NOT play around. I’m traveling for work, in a hotel room, groaning, moaning, cursing. Neighbors can think what they will but I’m doing these evil mini lunge/squats that were dreamed up when someone had a baaaaad day. No. Weights. Necessary.

    I really enjoyed doing the BeastMode series like many others...but now I’m so much looking forward to doing calisthenics! I love bodyweight moves...never to be underestimated!     I’m a 13 year old girl that was looking for healthy habits and I stumbled across Carolina. I only got through 14 minutes of the video without completely collapsing on the floor and this is my first time doing this! I’ve been looking for ways to build visible muscle and I think this just might work! I play archery, basketball, and soccer; if anyone would like to leave some helpful tips on this comment, I would be forever grateful!

    Im two weeks post c-section (feeling great and doing body weight for lower body, and 1/2 my usual for upper body, and also power walking) and rocked this workout! I modified the Bulgarian lunges and one or two other things, but otherwise- THANK YOU for keeping me in beast mode during my pregnancy, and now after my pregnancy as well ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ your videos have helped sooooooo much, thank you thank you thank you

    Soo here's a storytime nobody asked for:
    Back during EPIC II I used to do Caroline's leg workouts (45 to more than 50 minutes long sometimes) with 20kg dumbbells (not that much, but that's all I had at home).
    Recently I've moved abroad with my family and don't have access to any sort of equipment.
    But when I tell you this workout is KILLER I mean it. I don't rememebr my legs ever hurting so much. Some serious gains are coming!

    Wow! A killer body weight leg day for the ages!!!! Not that anyone should be surprised that body weight means double hard when it’s done by Caroline Girvan 😆 I thought the Bulgarian set was super tough, but then came the kneel to squats and then came the curtesy to lunges!     Okay so I circled back around to this one. This time I came more prepared and ate a good dinner before. Still around that 73% mark the strobe lights start coming on. Darkness starts to close in on my vision. I’m on the floor grasping for the pause button. No way around it. This is a damn hard workout. Thundering Jesus.

    I’ve been enjoying Caroline’s workouts and wanted to start off August in order with her Calesthenics series. My legs were trembling at the end and I so appreciate that she doesn’t edit out the parts where she’s human and shows her pausing.

    I am soffering of back pain since May... almost 6 month and this is my gold workout when is a worse day than usual....i do not feel back pain during the work out! Thank you so much Caroline!!!

      I was so excited and that workout didn't let me down! Wow, what a burner! My legs were on fire. For me the most demanding trisets were lunge to RDL, kneel to squat and the finisher- squats on toes! My legs were shaking. I really love the whole point Caroline wants to highlight this week- if you are doing quality reps with mind to muscle connection and you are really taking advantage of the depth, you will feel the burn and you will also be able to lift more when you pick up those dumbbells again.
      Finished with 20 min bulgarian workout which I absolutelly love and for me was the perfect way to finish.
      I know you will enjoy this week!

    This workout kills my legs EVERY single time. Absolutely love it, you would think bodyweight means easy, but not with this workout. One of my favourite workouts from Caroline! Music is bang on as well. I get excited every time I do this workout.

    I've been doing the Epic Heat program for the past 4 weeks and I've fallen in love with these workouts. I'm on vacation this week without access to weights so this calisthenics series came at the perfect time. It was as if Caroline anticipated my needs.     I wanted to quit at 46% because I slept 4 hours this night, and after a day at work, I was soooo tired but I saw funny exercices so I stayed and I did the whole workout. It was challenging and I needed THIS workout today.

    What a challenging workout! I have Lupus and have arthritis & nerve pain to go with it, so I look for low impact cardio. This is great! Cardio & sculpting at the same time. I did slow controlled movements and not as many reps. I will have to build up to this. The curtsey lunges are the hardest for me. Not sure why. I bailed on those after the first set but picked up afterward. My legs couldn't go anymore. Also, only got through the first part of the finisher. Feel like I ran a 5-mile race. Love her videos! They keep me changing! 💪 ❤

    I never ever underestimated bodyweight exercises because I know they really hurts.... A lot 🥵
    Edit: Done ✅, The bulgarian lunges sets killed me! I paused a lot, the finisher makes my legs shake I'm wheezing 😂😂😂 did the wall sit challenge too... My abs still sore from those beast mode hiit. I can't walk the next day I swear 😂🥵

      I tried this workout today. My weight set is not accessible at the moment. Shifting gears to bodyweight. I knew this session was the answer. It kicked my butt at 30% of completion. My quads were exploding. My knees gave up. End game. Tomorrow upper body and then back to this wild stallion! Like I said something gotta grow out of this beast routine…

    Did this one while on holiday (Caroline, your timing!!!) In the outside gym and whew let me tell you I was crying on the bulgarians instantly. Such a hard but rewarding workout followed by an hour long walk on the beach 👌🏻 amazing 🔥

      100% agree, Ria. What a brilliant week of training ahead! I am surprised that so many are underestimating the power of calisthenics. This workout was very hard, my legs were shaking and the burn was real. Different feeling than last two weeks with heavy weights. Absolutelly fantastic day, finished with 20 bulgarian split squat workout and my legs are done!

    Happy August All! My body is aching for a dumbbell rest and this week’s calisthenics series is perfect . I started with 30-minutes swim and found today’s leg day enjoyable. I held on to a pole to help with balance which allowed me to go deeper. Don’t be fooled body weight is a good workout. Wrapped up with a 15-minute lower back stretch. Thanks Caroline and enjoy the week everybody!

    if you wanna see Caroline struggling during almost every set, go for it. you won't regret it.
    highly recommended for lifters that haven't done calistenics for a while and need a break from weights. you'll love this one

    Went on vacation to Brazil and knew I wouldn’t have weights. Not only that, inhardly have any room to move around in this tiny room. But, I did what I could and got such a great workout out of this! Your workouts have helped me stay consistent & healthy even while on vacation!

      Hi Rebecca, pure 🔥. I finished about an hour ago as well and my quads are still burning!! Much of the movements I did isometrics because my knees are not the best so by lunge to RDL I was already dripping. Great session. I almost died when I realized the add on was wall sits but I pushed through. Amazing Caroline, just amazing!
