  • This is Beautiful Barbados, (Captial: Bridgetown) so just sit back and relax, enjoy a mini holiday and video tour set to the calming music of some of the island's successful artists! Hopefully this video gives you a little taste of what the island has to offer. If you enjoy the video, give me a like and a share, and feel free to leave a comment! See my channel for more videos on Barbados, and Barbados related playlists. Read down for more information on Barbados!
RUclips has incorrectly tagged the music. The first track is "Beautiful Barbados" by The Merry Men, a world famous Bajan Calypso band. The second track is called "In Barbados" by Square One, an internationally famous Bajan soca band, and the launching pad for Alison Hinds, one of the most famous female soca artistes in the world, sometimes referred to as the "Soca Queen".
Filmed on a trip I took in '09 with a Samsung NV24HD for most shots and a Panasonic Lumix FZ20 for the closeups.
Barbados is a lovely little island nation, 21 miles long by 14 miles wide at its widest point. It is politically stable and economically successful, and the quality of education in Barbados is among the highest in the world. These three things combine to make Barbados one of the safest if not the safest destination in the Caribbean, and it does this without having to be divided into tourist areas and local areas. Everyone can mix and mingle anywhere and at any time in Barbados. Barbados has been blessed with an excellent groundwater source, and unlike many other tropical destinations, you can drink the water straight from the tap. Crime in Barbados is low, and violent crime even lower. The same basic precautions should be taken in Barbados as would need to be taken in any other place.
The Barbadian landscape is relatively flat, though there are some hilly areas concentrated on the east side of the island. Vegetation is lush and tropical. Ecosystems that can be found in Barbados include forests, jungles, grasslands, a few wetlands, scrubland, and farmland. The West and south coasts are highly developed while the East Coast remains largely undeveloped except for a few small villages and the odd institution or residence. The beaches on the West and South-Western coasts face the Caribbean Sea and generally calm and great for swimming and bathing. The Beaches South Coast are generally windier, and rougher, making them popular with wind and kite surfers and the like. The east coast is more rugged, but there are still many beautiful sandy beaches facing the atlantic where the waters are rough and generally unfit for swimming, these beaches are great for picnics, relaxation and sunbathing without the crowds or people you might find on the west coast. Bottom Bay on the East coast is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados. It is secluded in a cove, lined with palm trees sprouting from sugary sand which is kissed by turquoise blue waters. Bathsheba on the east coast has breathtaking scenery, and is a world class surfing destination. While the waters at Bathsheba are too rough for swimming and Bathing on a good day, one may likely find a large tidepool to bathe in. All beaches in Barbados are public and can be accessed for free by anyone.
There is so much more to do in Barbados than lie on the beach though. There are caves to explore, reefs and wrecks to dive, restaurants galore for the foodies, rumshops, dancing, live shows and concerts, regional and international sporting events, world class festivals, bus trips, zip lining, museums, art villages, fish fries, horseback riding, hiking tours, wildlife reserves and botanical gardens, pirate ship and catamaran cruises, golfing, cricket, helicopter tours, historical buildings, watersports, off-road tours, shopping, and so much more.
Nightlife is another big attraction in Barbados. Barbados is home to the Caribbean's only true entertainment district. St. Lawrence Gap is a roughly 1km long stretch of bars, clubs, and restaurants by the ocean. There are other smaller entertainment areas in Bridgetown, and Holetown.
Barbados is as close as it gets in the region to being everything to everybody; seclusion and the beauty of nature on the east coast, and fun and entertainment on the west coast. I would not say Barbados is the ultimate in anything, but it has one of the highest repeat visitor rates in the region because it is a much richer, broader, more diverse experience.
If you have been to Barbados and would like to make some remarks, please do so. If you are thinking of going for your first time and have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
I strongly advise anyone that goes to Barbados to go on AT LEAST one Barbados national trust hike. These take place every weekend in a different location. For more information and to view past hikes, please refer to youtube user "stephenmendes1". These hikes are bar none, one of the best ways to see Barbados, and I guarantee you will break a sweat.

Went there over 25 years ago, mere babe of 23 loved this song at the time, performed in beachside hotel bar, still have it on CASSETTE lol. Will never forget the field of fire flies, bull sauntering down the street and a couple having a row in a tin hut in bathssheba whilst I waited under a plantain tree for a bus in the rain. I so hope it aint changed zillions x

+s Stott it has changed quite a bit! For better or for worse. A lot more branding, foreign ownership, etc. Still a beautiful island though.

Ah such a shame I remember sitting on a sun lounger on the beach at 4am chatting to a girl id met, not sure I'd do that anywhere now but it felt so safe.

+s Stott yeah, it's not really that kind of world anymore. Very few places in the world. It's all about the money, and when it's all about the money, people get desperate.

    Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!
My soul and senses experience so much joy in Barbados. My body is recalling scents and sounds just from this visual.
The children jumping over the waves. I can hear the rain dancing on the rooftop.
I smiled at the end because as a kid I would go in the veranda and just look up in the night sky, feel the breeze and listen to the crickets. You took me back there. Its the simple little things in Barbados that grounds you.
    Thank you TdotSoul for sharing!

I tried to monetize this video by using RUclips sponsored music. I found out right away that youtube music does not support monetization, so I tried to revert to the original version, but since the video appears to be so popular they will not let me cut off their revenue stream by modifying my own video. This is underhanded, and I hope that RUclips will resolve this problem before I am forced to delete this video.

I spent three weeks on Barbados in the late 1990's, and I've always wanted to go back as I loved it so much. Beautiful island and the people are so friendly. I was lucky to be with friends who have spent several weeks on the island every year for the past twenty years so they had plenty experience of what to see and do. Also they have local residents as friends which also helps! We went all over the island and saw all of the places in your video. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

The local name for that bird is rain bird , but I'm not sure what the actual specie is. It appears to be some kind of flycatcher.
