    Hey thanks for all your slab leak videos, that's how I found you. For me it started when my water bill jumped by a ridiculous amount. My plumber and I noticed that there was water constantly flowing into the septic tank, even though no one was at home using the toilets. Put in new exposed piping to bypass everything and the bill went back down to the normal amount. Thanks, your video helped me understand what was going on.

    I've used my old geophones since the 80's, if you add air to the test line you can find it within inches usually pretty quickly.

    I do a lot of slab leak detections! More on the fresh water side. But loving it! Been looking for different equipment to help me pinpoint my leaks better. Have been using the Gen-ear setup. Which has done great! But been looking at others and can’t figure out which way I should go.?? Seem some do things others don’t and vise versa. What do you like to use?

    I have been doing leak detection in Oregon for a number of years now. On water lines that are non-metallic and have no tracer wire I prefer to go old school and use my divining rods to locate the water lines outside. We are in the desert part of Oregon and Winters here get cold, water lines are deep three to eight feet. How deep are the water lines that you are dealing with in Texas?

    We believe a pipe has broken under the slab in our primary closet. The carpet had a huge round wet spot. We pulled up the carpet and the slab was wet. We do not have a crawl space and we are on our own well water and septic system. There is a faucet right outside on that side of the wall.

    I have a house with an old stone foundation, and the basement is constantly wet. There are times where i can actually the water pouring in through the crack between the wall and the floor. The foundation obviously needs to be sealed back up, but you can't patch any cracks until it's not wet down there. We've had the water shut off to the house for several months, and water still comes into the basement so it's not municipal water.
    Anyways, to the point, we believe a field tile/ french drain/ drain tile was broken through when we had to have new pipes run from the city into the house (as that's when it started). I don't believe this method would help in this situation, but is there anything else you can recommend to locate where water is coming in and how to stop it? I live in a very rural area, and there are no professionals in my area, just handymen, so having a professional come out just to look would cost alot of money. I want to make sure I'm getting the correctly qualified person to come out, so I don't have to pay several companies to come out and then be left without money to actually pay to fix the problem.

    Would leak detection also involve the plumber going into the attic? A plumber told me he would also need to go up there. I never heard of plumbing lines going into the attic.

    When I get a slab leak, I isolate the house from the yard. If they have a slab leak I tell the costumer to do a reroute. I've only done one slab leak repair. It's too costly to jack hammer the floor, make the repair of a small section of pipe and then pour concrete back.
    I want to learn leak detection. It's something I've always sub contracted out.

    Hey roger do you think it would be possible for me to become a plumber with a felony ? 🙏🏻 ive been wanting to do it for a long time but I’m just scared of wasting my time . Hope you can respond

    • @edwardmarshall2035
      @edwardmarshall2035 3 года назад

      Depends on the company and what you wanna do. Also the felony. If you're ok with working in the elements, you could build houses but alot of employers are going to be apprehensive about sending you into people's houses at least to start. Filling out applications isn't gonna hurt you.
