    That tractor is high tech! I worked a construction job once where they had two HD41's (a little larger than a D9) ripping sandstone. They had to change the tip on the shanks twice a day they'd wear out so fast. Had to wear thick gloves to change them because the metal was so hot.

    Use a ripper-roller, they have rollers (Drum rollers) behind the shanks to flatten it back out.

    I believe he should have done a 2nd ripper pass on the diagonal for maximum depth and hardpan disruption especially the never ripped ground. He would get even higher yields IMHO...

    In Ontario in some fields, that ripper would turn up too many stones which would need to be picked. I don't see that happening much were you are working.

    Merry Christmas Ron. Question…..does it make a difference in which direction or angle you rip a field? What are the benefits to going crossways?

    • @camupdike1798
      @camupdike1798 2 года назад +5

      It depending on the terrain/location of the field. We ripped a field but ripped it at an angle towards the river so the water would flow towards the river and not stay in the field so much.

    didn't think you wanted three point deep till on 4 wheel drive like that; thought dolly was preferred?

  • @peteparker7396
    @peteparker7396 2 года назад +2

    6 shanks 🤣🤣🤣 looks like you have a wide middle too by the way. 👍🏼 sounds also like you don’t have the draft set like it should be. It tickles me seeing you northern boys who usually don’t use three point struggle with it. It’s easy and simple. The only think we use tongue pull is field cultivator.

      We run both but I prefer pull type implements. They just seem easier to hook up and a like to look back instead of down when in the big tractor

      I like using my 1972 John Deere 4320 pulling a 7 shank 3 point V ripper on 20” centers at 17” deep. Our land has a lot of clay subsoil so I usually run in fourth gear at nearly 5 mph, and use about 7 gpa of fuel. I do run duals to get enough traction to accomplish about the same tillage effects.
