- At least once a year I like to do a big clean up and purge of my collection of plants that no longer bring me joy and rearrange the plants in my plant room and I thought I'd take you guys along with me because last time I chopped off a ton of leaves and plants I got in trouble for not filming it 🫥

RIND RECIPE!!
sorry i don't know exact measurements, it really just depends on how much rind you're using and how pickled you want it! here are some very GUESSTIMATED measurements, but if you plan to make it, i say start with less than what i wrote and add more as you wish!
for one medium watermelon:
- remove the pink part of watermelon + skin of watermelon only leaving the white rind
- cut into thin pieces (i prefer mine is about 2x2" pieces)
- in a large bowl mix 3 cups rice vinegar, 1/2 cup salt, 1 cup sweet chili sauce, sriracha if you'd like it spicy
- put rind + mixture into a large tupperware, and add water until the rind is completely saturated
- leave in fridge overnight

I love that you and Charmaine have done decluttering videos lately. It's so important that people realise it's okay to get rid of plants and that their mental health comes first, so thank your for normalising that. People should not feel shame for getting rid of plants. After a recent double pest outbreak (thrips and flatmites, ugh) I ended up throwing a few plants away, and although I was upset at the thought, when I did it I was surprised to feel nothing but relief. Which started me on a major plant downscale, which is ongoing at this moment. Some left completely, and some I am restarting from cuttings because they got too big for my house. Now, when I look around, I see plants I adore and I just feel happy. I am going to be super intentional about what I bring into my collection from now on.

I just did a purge of plants about a month ago of my plants that weren’t doing it for me anymore. I took quite a few to work and gave them to coworkers….now they are asking for more props. 😂 I’m glad I did because my collection is so much more manageable and I’ve showcased some of my favorites. Now the routine pest checking is easier.

I cannot tell you how much I needed this video! I am not in love with crawling varieties of plants. They take up so much room and just... actually aren't that pretty to me. I feel better that they are someone's jam and I can give them to someone who will love them more.

Honestly, this inspired me to finally downsize my collection. FOMO prevents me from plants that I like the idea of vs. plants that I truly enjoy.
Like syngonoums.. why do I have any? What do they do other than attract thrips and get leggy 😩
I'm also on a purging spree, have a living room corner gathering all my plants to purge, but I haven't had the energy to actually purge them. At this point, they may end up as compost as well. 😅
I have a really beautiful Glorious growing in a front corner of my tent, perfect leaves and sizing up, but all the other glorious I have also have the same issue with EFNs and looking ugly. I assume they have spider mite issues, and I got rid of all my glorious other than the beautiful one in my tent.
I have been waiting to do a purge for so long but I’ve been so stressed out about work which leaves me very tired and unmotivated. Just keeping the plants alive has been my goal. Also I think chopping your plants to suit your aesthetic or space makes a lot of sense so please don’t pay attention to the negative comments.

It seems to be the time to Purge! I fell out of love with a lot of plants and realized the ones I like to grow. I use the Dr doom thrips killer and that has been amazing. 😊

@@lilmissbeats haha that’s valid! I think I like my leaves either very narrow, arrow shaped, or heart shaped like pallidiflorum, melanochrysum, or gloriosum, and billies are somewhere in between so they just don’t do it for me lol

Im also purging. I do t have a number. Maybe 10 or 15. I’ve just collected them every one I could find and afford. But too many of them bring me no joy. And things are too crowded. You can’t see the plants individually just as one big mess. I’m hoping to get room for my Christmas tree next year.

Like I said in another comment I don’t see this as negative and entirely positive for everyone. I get chopping content, you keep your mental health and new plants are being created. People need to change their mindset 🤷♀️
I’ve never understood the need to have multiples of the exact same plant.
Sell it as is. Some people like big plants. Immediate satisfaction.
Hard to watch some of the chopping of what looked like to be healthy plants. Had to stop watching. May return when I am better prepared.
