Thank you SW / MG! With this apparent "What is..." series, am I the only one that thinks of *-Forky-** Mitch Asks A Question*
I hear that strong NY accent in my head. Yes, there is something wrong with me - cheers!
PS I have encountered, more than once, ceiling fans cause feedback. Due to limited stage space, I could not relocate the mics; therefore, the only recourse was to turn off the fans. An unpopular solution on a hot summer night.
At another club, lifting the ground (to reduce that 60 cycle hum from FoH) caused the provided PA to generate feedback. That still has me head scratchin'. As it was a multi-band festival of sorts, I did not have any time (nor was it my gear) to troubleshoot further. No choice but deal with the hum. I always wondered if the electrical wiring was amiss. Fortunately, no one was hurt and the show was fun for all. I subsequently purchased an outlet tester which I always use before hooking up my gear. I find unpleasant situations often have a positive side if you learn from their lessons (now cue the "More you know..." star)

Great video. We seem to fight feedback every Sunday at church. We have to run the vocals hot because people won’t belt it out. Thanks for the tips.

... and then they sing even less and hold the mic even farther away, which leads to more gain applied to the mic... Rinse and repeat. Good mic technique does not come naturally. I always feel for the sound guy who's just trying to make everybody heard.

Nice video but I didn't quite understand the concept of feedback in guitar. like how can soundwaves from the amp cause the strings to vibrate ?I didn't get how this is physically possible?

Can you explain why it always resonates in the same note no matter what speaker system we use? The feedback loop is always the same note

Why would you want to fix it? How about understanding and using it instead of treating it as a bad thing?
