    LOVE the way you handled the fish and didn't take him completely out of the water. Great video! Excellent stewardship. I Wish more fly fishing videos showed this level of love and respect for the fish.

    A beautiful classic! I love fishing pocket water when trout are taking those giant mayflies. And a lovely bamboo rod as well. Thanks for the video. I'll be in Utah at the end of this week for four days doing just this. I hope I'm up to the challenge as you were.

      Thanks Papi. Glad you enjoyed the video :) Just a small detail. This is actually not a bamboo rod, it's a glass rod. But that works as well :) Cheers

      Carpe Diem Oh wow! The shape fooled me. I'm taking an old Sabre 10' glass rod with me as well. I really like the slow action glass rods of yesterday!

    Beautifully done video. Goes to show that fly fishing isn't all about thrashing the water agressively in search of fish. Sometimes it's nice just to sit and ponder.

    At 1' you can see his line is wrapped around his rod. Great to see that such a goof-up, like we all do, can still result in such a beautiful fish.

    your videos are SPECTACULAR! i just started fly fishing, and i just bought my first rod. I think it's a medium- fast rod, a 5wt 9ft , 170-200 grains. Now i need a fly line, but finding the ideal one is really frustrating . Should i buy a 5wt line that weights about 12 grams/185 grains? so it's not a 5wt line anymore, by AFTMA standards, right?

    • @CarpeDiemFlyfishing
      @CarpeDiemFlyfishing  6 лет назад

      Thanks. Glad you like the video :) I usually go with a line with the same "wt" as the rod specifies even though there are differences on how they interpret the wt. Best thing would be if you can try a couple of lines with your particular rod. Many sellers provide this opportunity. If it feels good it probably is :) Cheers

    • @imraduin
      @imraduin 6 лет назад

      Jag har aldrig fiskat med ett. Vad är den största skillnaden? Eller är det bara känslan av att använda något handgjort i naturliga material? :)

    • @CarpeDiemFlyfishing
      @CarpeDiemFlyfishing  6 лет назад +1

      Bambuspön är vanligtvis lite mjukare än spön i andra material. Han som fiskar i den här filmen använder ofta glasfiberspön, som är lite mjukare än kolfiber, och då blir skillnaden lite mindre. Själv använder jag oftast kolfiberspön och då känns ett bambuspö väldigt mjukt, nästan lite "sladdrigt". Men efter lite tillvänjning så är det mycket behagligt med ett mjukt spö, speciellt i mindre vatten. Presentationerna med torrflugor blir mer följsamma och precisa. Och så är det förstås lite känsla med att det är handgjort och naturligt precis som du är inne på. Ha de gott :)

    • @imraduin
      @imraduin 6 лет назад

      Tack för förklaringen, ska se ifall jag kan få testat ett bambuspö till sommaren och ta med till Ätran/Renaälven.
