  • This is the video on metabolism of two aromatic AA which are
    1. Phenylalanine (Essential AA)
    2. Tyrosine (Non essential AA)
    If there is any defect in enzymes associated with the metabolism of phenylalanine and tyrosine that it leads to various disorders like
    1. Phenylketonuria
    2. Alkaptonuria

    Good Day Si! A very helpful video, indeed. Just a query. I want to know whether is there a book for biochemistry which is thorough and self explanatory , without forcing students to mug up reactions? for example, like Guyton and Hall( which is of physiology, but is good for building concepts). Please also consider I am student of 1st year MBBS. Thank you in advance sir :)

      Hey aditaya. Hope you are doing well. Biochemistry is a beautiful subject. If you understand the concepts very well then it will be very useful to you in pharmacology as well as in medicine. For the better understanding of metabolic reactions I will ask you to do thorough reading of enzymes and vitamins (for the coenzymes). If that part is done then you have won the half battle.
      Now coming to the book part in biochemistry not a single book is complete but to clear the concepts I will suggest you to read the Lehninger's principles of biochemistry. Very good book. Make a handwritten notes from it so you can easily do the revision during exams. Other topics which are not given in lehninger that you can read from pankaja naik or from Vasudevan. Hope it helps. If you have any other doubt then I am here to help. Stay Home and stay safe.

    Doctor i have question about alkaptonuria why alkaptonuria cause kidney stone can y send answer thanksss

    • @Biochemistrybasics
      @Biochemistrybasics  Год назад +1

      The accumulation of homogentisic acid in the kidneys can contribute to the formation of renal stones. Homogentisic acid can undergo precipitation and crystal formation in the urine, leading to the development of kidney stones. These stones can vary in size and composition, but they often contain calcium oxalate crystals.
