@@spvidz On the OG 404 doing the File --> Export routine is simple and you're not having to free up space on another bank. When you export you can select all the pads in your bank and they'll get backed up to the CF card pretty quickly, especially for small chops.
Yo dope tip, This shit was crazy when I read it on the fourms! Heres a couple things that may help. If your afraid of deleting your samples, Instead of copying all of your chops you can just do a backup so the samples will be back in the same place incase you mess up. Also Another tip, You notice how you can have the effects on while you do the delete trick? If you turn on the Delay and set the internal BPM to a lower amount (Press EXT SOURCE then BPM, or Pattern Sequencer and BPM.) Turn the delay setting to a lower number (T1,T2, ETC..), Turn feedback knob all the way up, And balance knob in the middle. You can then loop your chops while using the delete trick and then resample your delayed loop onto a pad. If that doesnt make sense check out this link by Ricky Tinez ruclips.net/video/0CpZhSiHcOA/видео.html
yea maaaan! prssing rec for being quicker than cancel,,, nice dude, love those pro tipps in between! thx a lot for the content once more - i´ll keep it up following :))
Dope hack, I do a similar work around with everything set to loop on my 303. Trigger one on then off while starting the next with another finger. Not as flexible as this @ 4:45 without resampling bits to another pad with loop off, though. Definitely looking forward to using this method
dude i love ur channel, i'm an sp404 user and iiiilooooveeeeitttt, much respectandlove 2 all userses in world :) I have a question thats is bugging me, i hope anybody has thoughts on it, and ids about the compression on the sp. U know, with fx limit on the middle knob is a release and fx off is an attack; I wonlder if any body uses this on drums, and if that so, please let me know uR oninion...I donkno if you have a video about this and i don't know if oher people have this same doubt, but i let you know my concern. :)))))))))))) Keep goin' spvidzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!
When I watch tutorials like this, I think, the need for a analog drum machine is gone. In Germany we pay more than 400€ for a SP4040, while I can buy a DAW for half the price. Almost everybody has a MAC or PC nowadays and you have a lot more creative possibilities with a DAW.
Different tools for different people - I prefer to stay as DAWless as possible. I love samplers and old beat making machines. DAWS have a lot less character and many people have moved back to analogue gear over the years because they want the warmth of the old gear. I say as long as you're making music it doesn't matter but the tools that you use are entirely up to the creator. Theres still a massive market for hardware - the SP404 is proof of that!
spvidz I understand your approach. Obviously it‘s like playing guitar. There will always be demand for an accoustic guitar, bc people like to play on a real instrument. They do it for the love for the instrument, with all its limits they are experiencing compared to a DAW.
3:08 how can record it un Ableton for example and then get it back to the SP in just one pad ? Should I do it first and then put de sdcard to My laptop and load it in Ableton?
Just hit deleted highlight the pad you want to delete and hit it again? If you are on the SD card that comes with the box you might need to format it. Have a look on my channel there is a video on how to do it :)
Preloaded samples are locked for some reason. Hold down the cancel button while turning your SP on and it will allow you delete/resample the preloaded stuff.
I'd copy things to a spare bank, because I know I'd delete samples by mistake every damned time. Nice trick, tho.
Oh damn yeah I meant to mention that in the video. Definitely a good idea 💡

I also like to use the delete button to quickly see if there are occupied pads in a bank, don't know if that's common or not.
I think rec does the same man yeah, either works :)
Dope hack fella, subscribed a couple videos back, keep it up
Awesome man. Thanks a lot for subbing!
How great would have been a bootleg software update with mute groups and pitch! maybe an EG
Yeah that would be nice! Of course Roland saved it for a new product instead haha
@@spvidz I know right!
I went for the SX for the sound mostly
and combined with my MPC 1000 it becomes a whole other beast

Record it into ableton then export that as a WAV and import it into your SP
Thats crazy lol
B.Young mad hack yeah. Thanks for watching man 💥
Ive been wondering is there any possible way to delete samples from pads or does that require a new sd card
