Coming from Coorg and having had akki roti very often , I can definitely say this is not the traditional recipe . The original recipe includes cooked rice , rice powder , salt which is then kneaded using hot water. This looks like a modified akki roti 😆

Well explained ! Unfortunately, our apartment here in France has a ceramic oven. Nothing beats a gas hob and we would have to consider going back to gas. But then, things tasted better on wood fired stoves, charcoal fired ovens ... the "aattukallu" and "ami" were infinitely better than the grinder and mixie... Nope, I am not getting nostalgic - the labour savings that women of my mother's generation has had compared to my grandmother's generation overrides any marginal improvements in taste. There is no proof that it's dangerous. LPG and propain ovens & grills are very common in the west. No harm what so ever.
