Is this post punk? I am new to vapor wave, synthwave, post rock, post punk terms. Obviously, the genres listed are not the same and I am can here the differences - this songs on this playlist sound a lot like The Cure was an influence. Where would The Cure and bands inspired by them fall in a catagory? Alternative Rock seems like a very big umbrella term.
Post punk is in itself a broad genera. It ranges from guitar and drum to guitar and synth to pure electronic instruments. The genera describes punk influence with deeper and sometimes darker feel. The cure, the xx, she passed away, molchat doma, and even the cannons and metric fit into post punk. Being liberal, one could argue that elle goulging could fit into this genera. Even though her earlier works are better described as electronic folk.
Ok as someone who was a teen during the “ post punk” years a lot of bands are tagged as post punk that absolutely are not part of the genre, it’s become a catch all for anything that happened after punk. Which is sort of inaccurate . For example synth pop is not post punk.
