    It looks blizzard just tossed in these characters into the horde campaign because they forgot that they existed.

    I just love the line that tauren Centurion says in her quest log in Stormsong.
    "Humans can be a cruel bunch from what I've heard, but these ones seem to take pleasure in slaying the fallen."
    She is talking about people defending their homeland that belonged to them for 2000 years! She is the one invading!
    God, I was always neutral. Always liked both Horde and Alliance but at this point I cannot understand how anyone could rationallize what the Horde is doing now.

      Blizzard writing. Because they need the Horde to be the bad guys and the Human Alliance the good guys. Thanks to gameplay (Berserk buff) though, there are more Horde players than alliance to the point it's causing lots of problems in Servers. Horde always gets the last laugh.

    I can understand Rexxar working for the Horde, he helped found it. But his reasoning, that Jaina is somehow evil and must be stopped, seems like a weird rationalization. She hasn't even been around for the last two expansions, and if you're looking at who is going "too far" well... he's working for her. Garona I wonder if she's still not working against Sylvannas in secret, if she's just suddenly king killer 2.0 and happy about it I will be disappointed.
    Lillian makes even less sense then those two. Went from hating being undead to actively and happily killing and raising others into undead.

    • @TheAssirra
      @TheAssirra 6 лет назад +8

      Actually Lillian makes a ton of sense. She does hate what she has become but slowly accepted it. Remember she was raised all the way back in Cataclysm, she got years of brooding behind her back. Also the reason she does help she actually saids herself, it is to ease the new forsaken in their new situation so they don't have to suffer like she did. Sylvanas was going to raise new forsaken no matter what so Lillian does what she can. Not to mention she hates the Alliance after they numerous times tried to kill her while she was still new, not to mention the stuff the Scarlet Crusade did if you play the MoP version of SM.

      @@eraldidisho4325 to be fair is her trying to flood and drown orgrimmar common knowledge? The only people present on Fray Island at the time was herself, Kalec, and Thrall. Thrall who had no ties to the horde at the time since he was leading the earthen ring and being a father had no actual time to address with a leader who wouldnt listen to him about how close they were from all dying. Kalec who has never set foot in orgrimmar who talked his lover down a ledge, tried to let the past be the past and let her heal. No one SHOULD know of the focusing iris incident on that island, especially since it would be random as hell to casually drop in conversation when Jaina has been off the grid for two expansions "yeah she was thiiis close from flooding orgrimmar because Garrosh dropped a bomb on everything she loved."
      Jaina doesnt have an actual horde kill count to match everyone elses. Garonas motives are left field since she never really was a die hard horde supporter to repeat the same thing she has spent decades painfully regretting. These alterations to characters to fit motives that are as weak as a wet paper bag in a windstorm is bad writing.

    What baffles me the most about Garona and Lilian in BfA is the Horde already has rogues they could have used instead of completely changing existing characters offscreen. If Kiryn was in Lilian's place, nothing would be different and it would make more sense.

    So Garona who hated the way she killed Llane Wrynn is now willing to kill Anduin. Rexxar believes Jaina has killed too many while the warchief of the Horde has literally killed thousands. Lilian who hates being undead is now helping Sylvanas raise new Forsaken. I guess they all have reasons to fight for the Horde just like the Horde players, but Blizzard could have come up with better reasons than these. I hope a future patch will shed some light.

    While I do comprehend rexxar motives and the hate he may bear towards the kul tirans, I really can't get over Garona working with the horde... that is not how her charachter was built since warcraft 1! She was always a friend of the stormwind crown! She was saved countless times by great alliance heroes, from Lothar, to kadghar etc... she always was oit of the faction rivalry as a third party charachter, that is why we all loved her in the uncrowned. Hell she didn't received anything but Rejection from the horde and now She thinks is a good idea to work for sylvanas' horde? That is completely utterly disappointing... that is blizzard throwing around charachters for the sake of cool, while the story and the narratives would tell a conpletely different story...

      She is somehow forced into this, that's what she says. "When extremists question your loyalty, you just do what you are ordered" or something like that. She only says that during the beginning of the war campaign. Also, her voicelines when you click her, change half-way through the campaign, she sounds a bit more cheerful, I guess.

      Well when it's horde vs Alliance and she IS the one that backstabbed one of the previous kings, even if it was under mind control i don't think the Alliance will think very nicely of her. And since Khadgar wants absolutely no deal with this she either places her fate with the horde or gets hunted like an animal.

      Rexxar working for Sylvanas and doing nothing during the rebellion against Garrosh is still a massive inconsistency in his character, and he should have not been involved in the Horde campaign. And Lillian Voss suddenly deciding that being undead is okay just feels wrong too. I was hoping this campaign would explain 1. Why the horde seem to dominate the Kul’tiran countryside and possess such strong bases that are way more powerful than anything the Alliance gets on Zandalar 2. Why the alliance even has to go in and help the horde get rid of their old god blood troll problem when it would be far better if we just stayed out of that siht and 3. Why characters that have (lore-wise) never outright declared for the horde/ promised to help the alliance (since the alliance helped them) are now the hordes biggest agents and why the alliance gets no equivalent
    Hopefully the next installment will shed some light on this but so far the alliance seems very short handed in this conflict as it seems the Alliance will receive no clear victories b fore he faction conflict shifts out of focus and we go back to magically putting all the hate aside and fighting some old gods again.
    Also, how tf is goblin tech suddenly so good (alliance perspective)? What ever happened to the whole gnome vs goblin arms race? I’ve yet to see any gnome make an entrance on a sub-orbital missile while the dwarfs are the only ones pulling their weight with their mole machines. Besides the campaigns involving your gnome operative it seems blizzard is intent in shafting gnome and Draenei tech this expansion

    • @SamuraiMorshu
      @SamuraiMorshu 6 лет назад +5

      If Blizzard portrayed the Horde as strong as it should be after their disastrous wars at the hands of Garrosh's two Hordes, followed by the subsequent Legion invasion thinning them more, Alliance armies (with actual cities, agricultural means of production to supply their numbers) would be able to walk over the Horde. The Zandalari should be the 'bigger' threat to the Alliance than the rest of the Horde.
      But for the sake of the game and the narrative, they're trying to make it equal by giving the Horde any sort of advantage they can think of while making the Alliance have the worst judgement and ignoring any of their pre-existing advantages. If they wanted to make this even, have the Horde be the underdog faction in this scenario. Make them fight smarter, not bigger and bombastic. Hit and run, pick their fights. War on the move, don't meet the Alliance head on. Those instances the Alliance then do catch the Horde forces it becomes a gauntlet of just waves upon waves of Stormwind infantry and Dwarven support.
      It's a wasted opportunity that would have worked better in an RTS game than an MMO.

    • @eraldidisho4325
      @eraldidisho4325 6 лет назад +2

      SamuraiMorshu Not really mate. You don't take in consideration the Forsaken, who be themselves could probably steamroll the Alliance, given a capable general. I mean, they are unfair, pretty hard to kill, bio weapons, no need for food, no fatigue... you could march an army of undead day and night with no rest required, that's fucking unfair.
      Gobbos have stupidly strong weapons, shit, the only goblin tech that seems to work fine is shit that goes boom.
      I agree with your second point though, but it isn't as one-sided as you say. The Horde also has air superiority by a long shot, since Zeppelins are incredibly good, and waves of Alliance blue bois vs waves of horde dead bois would not get far.

    • @checkmate1860
      @checkmate1860 6 лет назад +2

      Actually in terms of practical damages i think the alliance came up on top in this first chapter of the war campaign. Sure the horde got some incredibly useful intel and a great artifact with which they destroyed the home fleet of kul tiras (what remained before jaina brought it back the real deal). But think of the damage the alliance caused: many high ranking officers killed with little to no casualties, almost got a member of the horde leadership, a good chunk of the zandalari fleet destroyed, again with 0 casualties, as well as an entire battleship of the forsaken sunk by a group of 10 flying dwarfs. Massive disruption of goblin azerite mining operation in zuldazar. A strategic well defended outpost in vol dun that grant the alliance a great starting point, while the horde in stormsong valley got stopped by a half corrupted militia and farmers...
      Once again the bois in blue are specialists, while the red guys act without strategy and most importantly without valuing the life of their operatives. In definitive halford wyrmbane has done an incredible job with the limited amount of resources he had. Now we wait for a major morally grey victory of the alliance.

She may have wanted to slaughter innocents among the Horde at certain points, but she's never gone through with it. She's really only killed a fair amount of the Sunreavers that fought back after the divine bell incident. I'd like to point out something from real life that I noticed while playing this expac
    The Zandalaris and their culture is based off the ancient Meso-American civilizations(Aztecs, Mayans and Incas)
    The Kul'Tarians and their culture is based off the Colonial Naval powers of Europe mainly The Spanish and The Portuguese.
    Now This is where it gets really interesting, if WOW is planning to use real life history between these two Cultures to further the story then I feel sorry for the horde because Zandalaris are about to get recked by the Kul'Tarians the same way Aztecs and Mayans got destroyed by the Spanish and Portuguese Conquistadors.
    And if you still don't believe me then just look at the Zandalari and Kul'Tarian Storylines, where at the end of it the Zandalaris are in a huge mess while the Kul'Tarians have united and solidified their power, the same situation that the Aztecs and Mayans were in when the Spanish and Portuguese arrived to the new world, and we all know how that story went.

    As many have already stated and argumented before (and better than I could), I'm in utter disbelief at how bad the classical Blizzard writing problem of "Too many cool characters, not enough space to do them justice" has got.
    I'll never believe Garona saying "Well, I killed a king, maybe I can do it again". THAT EVENT TRAUMATIZED HER! She HATED that moment of her life with all her being! "When extremists question your loyalty, you just do what you are ordered"? Nope! You're Garona, you slit their throats, run into the night, reach Dalaran, talk to Khadgar and litterally DISAPPEAR from the face of tha planet.
    I'm NOT OK with the reason given by Rexxar. I could have been if he just said "Them fuckers made it personal" and "joined" by reflex and not thinking it through. He's half Orc (hot headed) half Ogre (bull headed), I can buy a personal reason for vengeance. But he was there at Theramore looking Jaina in the face when she choose to betray her own father and KNEW that she was suffering for that decision, and respected her for the strenght needed to take it.
    Fuck this faction war and all it has brought; it has been 14 years of WoW and a grand total of TWENTY FOUR YEARS since the First Warcraft rts for us and who knows how many decades of on and off war in-universe. It's old, it's pointless, it brought out the worse of ... mainly the Horde, because the Alliance it's too "Lawful Good" to be capable of pushing the story forward if there's not the Horde stirring shit up.

    To get the achievement Azeroth at War: Kalimdor on Fire, both horde and alliance have to send their followers out to complete a certain number of missions involving the continuing conflict there. All of these missions, as brutal as they might be, have legitimate military objectives. Except one. The Horde quest Teldrassil Evacuation has no military value. We know that the only elves left on Teldrassil at the time of the attack were innocents. These innocents are now being evacuated to Azuremyst Isle, AWAY from Horde forces. You are sending your troops to murder a PRIESTESS who is helping traumatized evacuees. the rationale for the mission is to 'sow chaos in their ranks.' Do they mean the ranks of refugees? To what end? There is military value in targeting enemy children to keep them from growing up to become soldiers who might appose you. Or raping nuns to show the level of depravity you will sink to agains all those who oppose you. But what do we think of a country that adopts this thinking? At this moment, in this war, it is not just Sylvanas who has come off the rails. Right now, in my opinion, it is pretty clear that the Horde are in fact the bad guys. btw: I have lots of Horde toons. I have had a lot of sympathy the the plight of several of their races. So this isn't a 'For the Alliance' thing. This is about what's right and what's just plain wrong. Lore wise there is no contest here, Jaina would trounce Rexxar in a 1v1, and you should get this from the game as well.
      In the Jailbreak scenario at the start of BFA you have a group consisting of Talissra, Zul, Talanji, Nathanos, Rokhan and a horde champion, and Zul the one that sees the future acknowledges that if this group battled Jaina they would probably loose, so they had to distract her by setting Stormwind on fire ....
      In lore Jaina is one of the most powerful mortal mages at the moment somewhere just bellow of Kadgar ... In lore Rexxar would get his ass whipped.

    Maybe if they'd go with Sylvanas actually being morally grey (and not just evil for the sake of evil), then we'd not have a few inconsistencies with characters explicitly siding with Sylvanas despite their own storyline so far. it would actually be having to choose between loyalty and honor. Instead, we get Lilian Voss sudennly going 180, Garona having one line of dialogue to "explain" her serving Sylvanas, Eitrigg acting like Horde is honorable despite his warchief being the opposite of that (Mag'Har intro questline) and Rexxar serving a Garrosh 2.0 despite him hating what Garrosh did.

    I don’t understand why people saying Garona should work for Stormwind and the Alliance. Uh, guys do you realize she killed their king? She has no home left but the Horde now. She was friend with Llane, not his Grandson. As for Rexxar, he fought Kul Tirans and they were the ones who attacked the New Horde at Durotar as far as I remember. Eitrigg, Rexxar and others are fighting for the Horde, not just Sylvanas because Vol’jin choosed her, they are probably respecting Vol’jin’s decision of making Sylvanas Warchief. As for Lilian, she is also a Forsaken, she has no one but the Horde now. Horde is a place where bunch of Races are trying to survive, a family, while Alliance is more diplomatic, trading Faction. Eitrigg, Garona, Lilian and Rexxar are fighting for the Horde, you guys should accept the facts and move on.

      Always angry Imagine killing a King and try to live on their city. The new King may forgive you, but what would the people think about you? Even if King ordered civilians to be kind over to her, she would be always disgusted by someone because she is a Kingslayer. Jaime Lannister wasn’t a bad person while killing Aegon Targaryen, he did this for the greater good but always hated by Ned Stark for this act.

    • @Tony-ik3uz
      @Tony-ik3uz 6 лет назад +3

      Ok.. Lemme see if i can get my head around your reasoning..
      Horde members torment me my whole life growing up, eventually even use mindcontrol to make me do something i REALY REALY REALY didn't want to do towards my friends. So now i might aswell just join them to kill the whole faction of my friends?... And Garona calling the Horde her Home after this is just absurd. Both by the way they have treated her in the past and also the fact that she's half dranei with makes Horde 50% her home at absolute best.
      And comparing it to GoT isn't valid imo since King Lane wasn't a mad King planning to kill the whole City. He was defending it and it's innocent citizens from an Alien aggressor wanting nothing but bloodshed and conquest. Another difference is that noone knows the truth about why Jamie did what he did. Jamie acted out of honor and a wish to save the people.. OBVIOUSLY Garona didn't. It's a completely different situation.
      Also Rexxar being all in because of Jaina going "To far" makes no sence.. What has she done besides helping in the assault of Lordaeron... After the Horde (Even if garrosh was in control he wasn't alone in the act) Destroyed Theramore and now Sylvanas burns down Teldrassil.. He was portraid as a man of so much honor that he couldn't stand by the horde and left for the wilds but now the honor is on the horde side after 2 sneakattacks whose goal was more or less just to main and kill..
      Jaina has only acted in response to being betrayed and/or being assaulted first.. Alliance is not the honorless one here, You can even ask Saurfang about that.
      I get you wanna fanboy for your faction but atleast use sensible arguments.

    The alliance bias is real. Such black&white storytelling of the horde now being the "bad guys" and everyone great/knowable on the horde is just being made into completely different characters to fit the mold of the (awful) story :(

    The more I read into the warcraft lore, the more shitty it gets. How the fuck is that even possible?
