The "grill" square, and the "blank" square go at the bottom.
First the 'blank' about 1" off the ground for embers and ashes to fall on.
Then the 'grill' goes just above it, making the bottom of the box and allowing air to flow in from the bottom.
The side with the large hole to put the wood in.
Then the 2 'braces' on top which hold and stablize the the entire thing.
Now that it's all put together you sit a pot on top to either make coffee, or cook some stew.

This is the worst "review" I've ever seen. A 5-year-old could have put that together better.
