4 cylinder engine is a big yes in exter. I drove i10 nios. I realised it is much better car than even the harrier. I have ditched Tata coz of engine noise which really gives headache in long route and now I'm buying Hyundai only coz its far silent inside. I have Tata Harrier and Now I'm buying exter as my second car.
Bought Punch for 5 star safety, better suspension, better music system, better claimed mileage, better ground clearance, better AC, larger overall size which to me are some of most important aspects from a driving experience point of view. Exter has some great features, superior engine, better gearing system and well-known realiability of Hyundai but some of its negetive points for me was the same old i10 interior, bouncy suspension as in other Hyundai cars, smaller tyres and I have some doubts about its high speed stability due to it soft steering setup whereas Tata cars are known for good handling at high speeds. Personal experience after researching both cars. Others may disagree but I expect them to also test both cars like me before airing their opinions on youtube. No doubt Exter has a better engine but that was already expected before its launch so I did not find it alone a good enough reason to buy the car. I don't worship any car company so I'm not hating on Exter, and tbh it was my first option. Coming from Hyundai, it's still a solid product. What disappointed me the most about Exter was that it was launched just to compete with the Punch but it failed at that one job.
Punch is a good car with more safety. Exter has good engine with smooth drive. Who ever like punch ... Buy it.. Those who like exter... Buy it.. Don't confuse others...
Absolutely right....the selection of car depends on the personal experiences and likes, NCAP rating and other safety measures might give us some confidence but no safety measures are quite good enough to guarantee anything. So lets look to driver better carefully and sensibly so that accidents are avoided...
6 air bag is very welcome move by Hyundai. In higher speed no car is safe. Punch is very capable car but need a suitable engine. If engine is noisy less reliable and lethargic then you loose 50% of your battle. Tata must provide a suitable engine gear box combo and a reliable service network.
Yeah all NCAP rating is based on under 70Kmh, if it moves beyond that, no cars are safer...not even the premium or luxury. I dont think the engine of Hyundai Exter is very high power or thrust, but quite enough for a good drive with speed up to 150 Kmh, I dont think we can go beyond this speed on consistent basis. Lets wait for NCAP rating of Exter.
I own tata punch, so many issues but service centre and tata motors have not addressed the. Exter is welcome to others who want an alternative to punch. Thanks Hyundai
Punch is actually outdated design element, especially on backside punch has choked design which doesnt feel good. Though it all depend on one's perspective. 6 Airbag or 2 Airbag its not something people will actually look more on to...I dont think hyundai will risk more on this new model, you are absolutely right that it is based on platform of Nios, but I dont think it might be the platform shape or design that is similar but they can stregthen the entire structure by used more quality steel elements in it.. with that the same platform could me more reliable and stronger. I dont fully agree with your views, lets wait for NCAP rating, why are you in hurry to judge a book with it cover. Punch is proved car, i do agree with that. I dont hyundai is not competing with maruti, instead it is actually competing with TATA and Mahindra both are good in better build quality vehicles, therefore i believe that hyundai is working to improve the build quality and from my person experience i feel the quality improved far from predecessor. You can actually feel when you close the door and hood.

Hi, I can't understand why Tata doesn't provide Hill Hold Assist in Tata Punch. It should be made compulsory for comfortable Hill driving. Also I have seen a few posts mentioning that Tata Punch has a weak parking brake which doesn't prevent it from rolling down on very steep inclines or declines. Is this True? Please reply.
More than hill assist, ESP is a must for an active safety feature.When Nexon can get ESP and traction control, what stops tata from offering it on the punch? 🤷
After seeing punch, exter, swift... I went with Swift ZXI plus. My driving is mostly City and not an aggressive driver. I loved the way Swift drives, cost of maintenance, resale value, comfortable and ease of driving, tried-tested-improved many times, in crowded Bangalore roads. I just listened to my heart.
Recently my had an accident with his tigor. Both passenger are okay with minor scratches due to seat belt. Police of that thana said them if ur car would have been maruti of hyundai or kia, u both would have been dead. For a life to lost one second is enough. Buy any car but dont by thinking that i drive sensively so safety is not a matter. Now my friedn is again planing to buy tata car only
Punch was selling only because it was the only modern micro suv and there was no competition. If safety/5* was the criteria then Maruti would have become extinct by now. Which is the number one car in terms of sales for the past year month by month and what is its safety rating? The media drive of the Exter is in progress and the global NCAP rating for the Exter is yet to be announced. Addition of 6 airbags is not a ploy by Hyundai but regulatory requirement for all cars begining October 2023. Ignis is a good car but outdated and I suspect that a replacement is in the pipe line and when that happens the competition will really hot up. When KIA and possibly Mahindra join the fray guess who will feel the heat.

Air bags are very dangerous when we face any collision....so I prefer tata punch due to high strength streel body structure with 5star GNCAP rating....Airbags doesn't matter😋😋
1) Door Lock design is Idiotic. The Tata engineers are not aware of real world problems due to this lock design. 2) Exter provides hill hold feature as standard. This is missing from Tata Punch. 3) Driver's left knee touches the dashboard during Driving. In case of accident, this may directly cause a Broken Knee. This design is Pathetic. 4) The Parking Brake is weak due to the high weight of the car. On steep inclines, it cannot prevent the car from rolling over. 5) The Panel gaps are so huge, that ants, cockroaches, lizards, and insects can easily crawl into the passenger cabin through them. 6) The engine is weak due to the high weight of the car and acceleration is not very good with 5 passengers and luggage. 7) The city mileage in bumper to bumper traffic is very low. 8) Dual Dash Cam should be made compulsory in every car. The number of accidents will reduce to a huge extent as people will know while driving that their every mistake is being recorded by someone. 9) Service although improving, is nowhere close to Hyundai, Maruti, and Toyota etc.
Agree to your all review. Genuine review about these cars. I have been using Punch since last 18 months and pretty happy with service from Tata and overall performance. I driven 24k km till now and feel safe when I drive.... Safety me no doubt about Punch.
Yes pickup me issue hai.... But 5+luggage bhi ho toh bhi sahi gear lagaoge to koi issue nahi hai. Overtaking me issue ata hai if you are enthusiastic driver
As per the new norms whatever required in car all is standard in exter , and if tata punch will be tested in with new norms then it could not be score more then 3 Star, reason being all cars should have ESC , air bag for all passengers , hil hold assist , three point pin for all passengers must be standard for all passengers , and TATA punch none of them

4 cylinder 4 inline valves with DOHC engine is must to compete with Hyundai, Suzuki.. but TATA can't afford to provide this engine with thier existing price range. Tata need to improve punch design. Interior of punch is average. Tata engine is < Hyundai engine. Main part is engine. In India safety is still considered at 2 priority. Otherwise Maruti why still No. 1

I think you are a TATA product liker. I personally wont agree with you. Im having Santro, Nios and now booked exter. Lot of difference are there between all these three. Except that front dashboard I dont feel about nios inside exter. Especially rear seat ride and cabin size is entirely feel to sit in a SUV. Raised and upright position in exter makes more sense. Bonnet view and daylight open (DLO) are extremely different than nios or i20 or santro. Cruising in 120kmpl feels more confident than nios. Ofcourse its a city car but engine is well tuned for highway drive.. now adays highway also has good number of vehicles and that we cant cruise more than 90 or 100 kmpl continuously. So for better and responsible drive I personally go with good engine and smooth hasslefree cars especially with 4 cylinder DOHC engine cars... and not 3 cylinder SOHC engine cars...

Exter has 6 airbags as from 1st Oct govt. has mandated 6 airbags in all cars, so Punch and Altroz will get it as well
So Hyundai tried to be the first movers & marketed Exter as the 1st car in the segment with 6 air bags...

I have bike 150 pulsar with 0 airbag and 0 safety rating but still in Good Condition. Because i am not a reckless driver, i ride safely.
Safety rating cones in picture when another vehicle hits you. If you are unlucky then you can get hit even standing at side of road.

4 cylinder 4 inline valves with DOHC engine is must to compete with Hyundai, Suzuki.. but TATA can't afford to provide this engine with thier existing price range.

City drive Exter best, for long drives and on highways Punch or Fronx better.But design wise Tata is the least preferred.They need to revamp the logo of Tata.
Tata need to improve punch design. Interior of punch is average. Tata engine is < Hyundai engine. Main part is engine. In India safety is still considered at 2 priority. Otherwise Maruti why still No. 1

Kia won't downgrade sonet to bring micro suv. They have Picanto in international market. They can use that platform only and not sonet.

I personally wont agree with you.
Im having Santro, Nios and now booked exter.
Lot of difference are there between all these three.
Except that front dashboard I dont feel about nios inside exter.
Especially rear seat ride and cabin size is entirely feel to sit in a SUV.
Raised and upright position in exter makes more sense.
Bonnet view and daylight open (DLO) are extremely different than nios or i20 or santro.
Cruising in 120kmpl feels more confident than nios.
Ofcourse its a city car but engine is well tuned for highway drive.. now adays highway also has good number of vehicles and that we cant cruise more than 90 or 100 kmpl continuously.
So for better and responsible drive I personally go with good engine and smooth hasslefree cars especially with 4 cylinder DOHC engine cars... and not 3 cylinder SOHC engine cars...
