  • Enjoy my Dasaita VIVID 10.2" Android Head Unit Receiver Review. You can buy this Android head unit and other VIVID models suitable for your vehicle from Dasaita directly → bit.ly/vivid10 or from sellers on AliExpress → s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AZ8tXf.
    In this video, I look at a fairly new Android head unit for the car from Dasaita. This video covers the right-hand drive VIVID 10 model for the Golf 7 line of vehicles from 2012 to 2019 (SKU: HA5667BH-Vivid-CP-HD). Left and drive models are also available along with a silver and black facia option.
    Dasaita also creates different screen size displays of the VIVID 10 and several facias for different car makes, from BMW, Kia and Ford, to Skoda, Volkswagen, Honda, and Toyota. If your vehicle isn't listed they do a few floating display sizes with 1-DIN and 2-DIN installs.
    Buying a VIVID 10 for your system makes sure you get all the necessary CANBUS, harnesses and cables suited for an easy install in your vehicle. I have been meaning to install this in my VW, but I just haven't found the right time to do it. So without delaying my review any further I bring this video to you with the system installed in my demo pod.
    The system runs Android 10, with a VIVID UI launcher reinstalled. Updates of the launcher can be downloaded to keep the UI bug free and new functionality and features can also be expected also. There are the usual Android 10 suite of Google apps available to you underneath. Once connecting the head unit to a Wi-Fi connection (either through a mobile hotspot, tethered phone or local Wi-Fi using a connected Mi-Fi device) you can head over to the Google Play store and download any available app you can imagine.
    Apps look gorgeous on the 10.2" IPS capacitive display. The display supports up to five touchpoints, so native Android apps have multi-touch ability that makes using navigation map tiles a breeze. Games will be supported too, but using CarPlay over its built-in Z-Link app will not carry this level of touch input, mostly because CarPlay doesn't support that.
    The Z-Link app allows both wired and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Carlife is also supported and there are some nice settings features to allow auto-connect when the system has booted up, along with HD enhancement mode, which sharpens the overall look of CarPlay and Android auto, so the visual stream isn't as pixelated on such a huge display.
    Connecting via a cable to an iPhone or Android launches their respective car platforms very quickly. Wireless is also just as quick to launch, with cold starts coming in at around 30 seconds. A little longer than my own Alpine system, but if you play with the boot options and go with a faster loading launcher, you might be able to shave off a few seconds.
    The Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms operate and look great on the VIVID 10 display. The 1280x720P display brings a rich and responsive experience that makes my poorly equipped Alpine look historically old.
    The built-in DSP with 30 Band EQ controls will certainly make the most out of any connected system, be it stock or bespoke. However, without being connected to my car I couldn't really review this area, but the demo pod pioneer speakers sounded great with loudness, phat and bass levels really doing their part in giving my two pod speakers an added oomph in the audio department...

    I installed a Dasaita 10.2-inch headunit in my 2018 QASHQAI the day after I took delivery with only 32kms on the odometer, and it was excellent. Integrated completely with the factory vehicle features (rear camera, steering controls, armrest USB, cluster clock and radio info). Boot times we’re good, and the functionality exceptional. Was even more impressive when I installed one in my wife’s top-spec QASHQAI, with the auto park and 360 degree cameras working just like with the rubbish factory navigation system unit.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing this video. i have an MK7 as well and the ability to get a larger screen but works with the CANBUS is SUPER hard to find if at all in the US. im really excited to see you install this in your GTI to see for sure it will pull the CANBUS over and what it looks like. im in the US and all i really want is a larger screen that works with the CANBUS and CarPlay. thank you again you give me hope that i can get a larger screen in my GTI without wasting my money.

      You’re welcome ☺️, I think it will look great in the GTI. I just recently tried the Nova launcher, replacing the VIVID launcher it can look really slick.
      So it is looking likely that I will give it a go soon, I just want to wait for it to get a little warmer before attempting the install. 🥶

      @@CarPlayLife im i correct that the CANBUS is the term we use for things like the mode settings for sport mode and custom drive modes or just the ability to have the radio use things like the steering wheel buttons and HVAC?

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  2 года назад +1

      @@bluefire025 I’m not too knowledgeable about all this but I think what you said is also what I think too. I assumed CANBUS does all the connection with the car system functions like controlling car interior lighting, wiper modes, displaying time until service, average mileage and fuel consumption data etc. i though HVAC was part of this too, but wheel controls was controlled differently, and requires different box to handle this, but I know this unit will work and control both.
      I just bought an OBDII unit for this system too, so I hope to bring that into my install video as well. 🤞🏻 the install is smooth.

    I hope you fit it in your Golf 7. It'll be interesting to see what the radio reception will be like, how the steering wheel controls work, back up camera etc. I'm assuming you'll loose access to the cars own hmi for its settings, e.g., tpms, date, time, and driving data.

    • @CarPlayLife
      @CarPlayLife  2 года назад

      Thanks, it is looking likely that I will give it a go. All those settings are still there. Just not presenting in a fancy way. More like a scrolling list with arrows or row buttons to toggle any settings. They were all dead in the demo pod as it isn’t hooked up so I thought I’d save all that in this video and cover it when it’s properly fitted.
      I just want to wait for it to get a little warmer before attempting the install.

    Great video going over the unit! If you have a bunch of videos in a folder on the USB drive, when each video is done does it play the next one automatically or stops each time?

    • @CarPlayLife

      I believe each one. But that also depends on the media player app. Which you can download many onto this system.

      The one that came was branded from Huawei. It works well and I have it running now in the car providing this headunit internet. I’ll be speaking about it on part 2 of my install video next week.
