Hey Anthony, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. It's not always easy to stay calm when the adrenaline is pumping, but you don't want to stuff up all your hard work by rushing things at a crucial time. A few deep breathes always helps, but the more often you put yourself in that scenario, the better prepared you are for the next time.
@@RocketsFishingAdventures If only I was put in that situation more often! I'm also discovering the joy of microjigs - have caught a few jewfish on 20g jigs in 20-30m of water, great stuff!
@@RocketsFishingAdventures yeh its far more entertaining to watch and far more interesting and suspenseful, i see a lot of fishing channels that just brute force yank the fish around and fling it on board but its quite stressful and irritating to watch, they probably have money to throw around on lures n stuff, whereas you're style is a lot more soothing in a sense.
Hey Mikey, I just finished watching the raw footage. Will send you the still pics via email soon. Did you get some good ones on your mobiles too? Was great to see you stay calm, trust in your tackle, and work with your mates as a team to catch that cracking fish, well done! Glad I was there to share the experience.
Yeah mate got some great stills on my phone, will be uploading the pictures to instagram @mikeyridings tomorrow night most likely. I just received your email and am just replying now, thank you for the support on the catch.
Hello Mr Madkeen! I have had most success with the 20g Storm Koika, but have also caught fish on 7g Sailfin Micro Jig. It is worth noting that I am far from an expert and have just been experimenting.
Sorry, I don't share specific locations on social media. Happy to help with tips on technique and gear, but finding your own spots is part of the challenge.
@@qlik9216 and if I were to say on my videos or in the comments what river it is, then that spot on the river becomes a lot more easily recognizable. My original comment stands. A large part of the challenge of fishing is exploring your local systems, spending time and learning where the bait sits at what tides and when the predators feed. So spend time on the water to improve your fishing...or just laugh your ass off. Your call.

Hey Cal, thanks mate. That sounder is an old Humminbird PiranhaMAX 150. It was a pretty basic unit that had served me well for about 10 years but it has unfortunately since died and is about to be replaced.
Not sure what you mean by wire caps. Do you mean the connectors that you put on the end of the power cord to go to the battery? If so, yes I do. I bought some crimp on connectors from Altronics and a crimping tool.
I didn't drill any holes for this install. I used what is called a wet mount for the transducer and then mounted the head unit on a ram mount in the hobie mast fitting area. I am making a vid of the wet mount process for the new sounder at the moment and will publish it soon.
Great vid! Gotta be pretty happy with the variety of fish you caught to. So were you just searching for bait and dropping it down, or just where you saw bait and arches also? Thanks
Hi Geoff, thanks for watching mate. I was looking mainly for bait. My sounder is only a base model so I don't use it to pin point fish, more to locate likely areas. Seeing the odd arch does give me confidence to spend more time in the area though 😉
I'm please to confirm that the Jewfish was cleanly hooked in the corner of the mouth :) The other fishermen that I was talking to in the boat also hooked two flathead in the stomach that day. For some reason that were just laying on the lures instead of inhaling them.
Hello Hussain. That is a 1000 size reel, 2-4 kg rod, 5lb braid and 8lb leader. Not exactly the kind of gear that you could lock up the drag on and dictate terms to a fish of that size.
Great video, very calm under pressure

Well taken mate, easy and controlled
Thanks Adam. 😎
Love how calm you are fighting the fish!

nice fishing and nice place to fish
What size/brand micro jugs do you like for the river? I use them a lot off shore in the reefs and love them.

i wish my estuaries and canals were as good as that!
Most systems hold decent fish, but it can take a lot of time and effort to find them!
Nice one Rocket
