    Very Informative. I am travelling to Canada on ICT Work Permit and my wife will be 5 months pregnant by then. I have couple of questions. Really appreciate if you could answer.
    1) Are the hospitalization/child birth cost covered by insurance
    2) Child Benefits we get
    3) Do we need a car to travel/visit doctor
    4) Do we need to look for a place to stay near to the hospital

    • @candidcanucks
      @candidcanucks  2 года назад +6

      Answering to your 4 bullet points below:
      1) Everything is covered under the insurance. From prenatal clinics to doctor's visit to hospitalization & delivery cost. Infact post delivery as well.
      2) You will eligible for child benefits after the child's birth, it takes 3-4 weeks for the first payment to get processed once you apply. And dont worry no money is lost if you apply late. Also I think hospital will get you a form filled for child benefits (not sure though).
      3) All depends if you have a car then its always great & safe else call a taxi or take a public transport accordingly.
      4) I mean its your choice but location where you stay doesn't make a difference, If you have a car then nothing is far away. If you are coming to Saint John then look for accommodation in Milledgeville, it will solve your all angles.
      I hope I am able to answer your questions rightly. And wishing you all the very best!

      Hi Shobit,
      Generally in most of the provinces if you have a medicare card then medical is cashless with slight differences in the policies. I am not very sure about Quebec's policy for international students.
      But as per my knowledge -
      International students are eligible for free basic health coverage through the province's Medical Care Plan (MCP) provided that they are enrolled in full-time studies for a period of at least 12 months.

      Well we have not lived in British Columbia, so we are not very much familiar about the medical benefits over there. But as per our understanding and some reserach, MSP covers maternity benefits if you have a study permit or open work permit more than of 6 months validity. Refer the link below -

      There is nothing to stress about. Simply apply & get your health card asap. You will get your health card within 4-6 weeks but they will post you your health card number within a week or two which will allow you to visit a doctor or a hospital. After receiving the number, the first step would be to reach out a prenatal clinic located near you as they will gave you a first appointment within 9-11 weeks. Hope this helps out. Nice information. I have following questions to ask:-
    1. Is any female gynaecologist easily avaialble over there for delivery, as being a muslim we need female gynaecologist for this purpose. I have heard that patient cant demand female gynaecologist due to hospital policy.
    2. If me and wife live in canada and send my wife back to home country for delivery then my baby will be PR of Canada or not? If not then what i need to do for getting PR of my baby or else.
    3. What are the ways to get female gynaecologist for delivery.
    Thanks

    • @candidcanucks
      @candidcanucks  2 года назад

      Well honestly I am not very sure but to my understanding you can request for the female gynecologist as the hospital management do respect your religious values. But all depends on the availability of the female gynecologist in the hospital at the time of delivery. However, if you have C section planned then your request might be considered.
      And coming to your question of getting the baby delivered in other country then you need to follow the process of dependant visa and PR.
      Hope this helps!

    • @candidcanucks
      @candidcanucks  Год назад

      Well its not a worry as once you apply then government considers you enrolled, its like getting the healthcare card and number takes 7-8 weeks. Hospitals also give you some time frame (2-3 months) to pay the amount or present the healthcare card later. So once you are here get apply your Medicare immediately at Service New Brunswick and ask them to provide guidance as well.

      It all depends on the level of risk associated with the pregnancy. C-section is done in case of high risk or complications or unless the pregnant woman is willing for it.
      For benefits, you need to apply on canada.ca under Canada Child Benefit (CCB) section.
      It all depends on the family income that's how much you receive monthly.

    hey guys, i enjoy watching your vlogs, very informative and to the point. One concern is that, we've heard from numerous people that canada health care is not so good in terms of waiting hours. even people with fractures have to wait hours to see a doctor. to what extent is this true?

    • @candidcanucks
      @candidcanucks  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for your kind words.
      Too some extent your understanding is right as there is a shortage of doctors and nurses and hence a huge backlog of surgeries. As a result wait time is more. Also since the medical industry is not privatized as result they consider an individual as a case which they prioritize according to the urgency and need.
      I know someone who went in emergency at 8 pm complaining about stomach pain and ended up getting diagnosed with appendicitis at 11-30 pm and got operated at 3 am.
      But on the other if you have a normal cold flu then it might take couple of days to get doctors appointment as well.
      So all depends. Hope it helps.

      So one needs to be holding some status like work permit, PR or else study permit(study permit not for ontario or manitoba). Then only they are eligible for healthcare benefits or medicare. Else it will cost to somewhere between 10k - 16k depending upon the complexity of the delivery process.

      @@humakhan2529 To be honest I am not very familiar with BC provincial healthcare norms. In New Brunswick here we use to get services from the day we get our reference number or healthcare number because printed Medicare card comes in 4-6 weeks. So once you land here after PR and apply for Medicare at Service NB you get the healthcare number in a week or two and then you are insured. So just visit Service BC to clarify with them.
