I sure miss laser engraving. My uncle owned a laser engraving shop in the 90s and closed up shop permanently in early 2000s. I worked there as a teen and I would take my baby to shop everyday. I sure miss my uncle. I dabble on variety of crafts, but really thinking about getting back into laser engraving.
I think it’s awesome that you’ve inspired your daughter to start her own business…what she will learn is priceless. I’m sure your support means the world to her. Just came across your channel…you do a great job. I have a very small laser but would love to get a larger one.
New patron and new to glowforge. I had an 80watt CO2 when we lived in our house but now that we travel full time I don’t have space for the big laser. I’m loving everything about the glowforge except the 20” limit on width. My biggest question before I order a ton of mdf from you guys is how does it hold up outside? Do you only paint with the chalk paint or do you clearcoat as well? Can’t wait to try my first pass through project and my first layered project. Thank you for sharing your tips and tricks and for going through a whole project when you film!! I’m one that needs to see start to finish!
Hi you two I love my glowforge and have cut 10mm oak on mine, just slowed the cutting down. Also I have to slow it down with 6mm MDF, so it cuts in one go. The customer service has been great, every time I’ve asked, they have come back with in a day. As I’ve said before we have a scroll saw and with the two machines, things are great. Love to you all. Pat
Thank you so much for helping me to make up my mind! Also that discount makes me want to cry, it helps so so much. I have been without solid work since Covid, this could make the difference in me getting back on my feet. Thank you!
That's a very helpful review, and you are a lovely couple. Thank you so much! Would it appear safe to keep the Glowforge in a woodshop where there's bound to be dust in the air, or rather not?
@@KimandGarrettmakeit Thank you. I purchased some 3D files i found on Etsy, have you tried the 3D ? i don't know anything about the system its self yet but I really hope the 3D files come out as they look.
I’ve just gone through some major medical and everything I thought I was going to do with my life has changed. I’ve had to look for options for a home based business. I keep coming back to this video. It would be a perfect new career starter for me. Thanks for putting the info out there. Hope to join the Glowforge tribe someday! Love your videos!
Thank you both for sharing your journey with us all. I can't believe it's been a year already. I'm in North Carolina and I love all of your amazing craft ideas. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store for your family. Thank you
Thanks for the review, what a nice laser. I have an Etsy shop and know that sales don't equal profit. I made over 120K in sales one year but my materials, overhead and cost of building my business was over half that so I only made around 55K profit that year. I'm looking into purchasing a laser but still unclear if it's worth it for my business. The cost of these lasers gets insane.
I LOVE your channel & used your code to get my own glowforge! It's a slow process, but it absolutely is worth it. Only been under a month, but I have already made some amazing sales! Thanx SO much for all you share & create!
Thank you for the review and sharing the income possibilities. I was going to get one without realizing the serious money that can be made. And thanks for the link!
I wanted to let you know today I got the discount and bought the Glowforge and you will get the money also, so look for it, I wanted you to beware of the money coming your way; Thank you!! I have look forward to more video from ya'll;)
I have not been here for your whole first year but from what I've seen about the glow forge I'm excited to get it down the road. I will use your coupon and help you guys out as well. Thanks for explaining your experience with this it helped me out so much. I appreciate all of your videos and especially this one. Congrats on 1 year Kim and Garrett good luck on many more years to come.
Ive been wanting to purchase a Glowforge for over a year. I’m new in the crafting world. You guys have inspired me to move forward with my crafting. I still haven’t purchased one, but hoping by the years end, I have one under the Christmas Tree!!!!
This was helpful. And right when I was going to ask you guys how you like it compared to your xcarve... you beat me to it. So... good to know that you prefer the laser. I already have an xcarve and I was curious if it was worth getting the laser or if I should just stick with the Cnc. But yeah... I have issues with detail. Don’t really engrave with it. And more times than I’d like to admit a design breaks or fails. I’ve used an epilogue laser and have knowledge with Corel draw to make designs and svg a. One thing I haven’t seen was someone saying that they don’t recommend that filter because the replacements are expensive. So... that’s good to know. I have a window available and I can save that money for material. Thanks for the review.

I absolutely love how well you both compliment each other's personalities!! I am trying to talk my hubby into buying the pro mode to set up a smaller side businessl!! Any advice? Love the video....SUBSCRIBING!!
I made the mistake of buying a boss laser, I bought the HP series because it will cut stainless. the biggest problem are the lenses and mirrors are garbage they make the laser light look like a galaxy reducing the cutting power, and I get the run around from boss they sound like they are helping but after almost 2 years of the same repeat questions and blaming me I bought a cheep knock off just to see if it was me or the laser, it was the laser. Burn on!!
Very informative. Are you able to cut acrylic?? Saw some colored material when you were showing the Gloforge materials. SUGGESTION: If you can cut acrylic, it would be awesome to cut the Christmas bulbs from your Christmas video where you used the tinted resin. Would be pretty cool to make some flowers too. Just a thought. When is your next live video?? Is it still going to be the ice cream ?? Good luck on the farmers market....hope you come home empty handed...SOLD OUT THAT IS♥️♥️♥️

@@KimandGarrettmakeit understandable, but it still doesn't even say it's a lazer cutter. As far as anyone knows it's a 3rd printer. Kinda weird on their advertisement side, but glowforge is still good

I just jumped in on this. And also own a glowforge. I don't have a Website, Etsy or eBay. What is your suggestion for selling stuff. Where and how do I do it? I've have zero success from making wooden jewelry to wooden signs, do wooden pins. As a graphic designer I usually make very custom and elaborate pieces, but no one buys. Why? Just would like some help. I'm not smart enough to do it on my own and am needing help.
Don't kid yourself dude and sell yourself short. You are undoubtedly smart enough to make intricate wooden boxes, so you're smart enough to do this. As far as selling items, it really depends on the clientele that you are focused on. I think you should be able to do alright focusing on the Boomer generation. I say that because, many of this generation still appreciate quality and craftsmanship from artists that take pride in their work. You know as well as the rest of us, just how rare it is to meet someone that rush their products to the clientele in record time and in usually in poor condition. A good craftsman takes their time and doesn't put forth a half assed finished product that can ruin their reputation. Anyone can glue or nail two boards together with little to no training. A craftsman will be the one who is never afraid to sign his name on every item he creates. For none is a more harsh critic of his skills and abilities than he himself. It also doesn't hurt to have a unique style or a particular trademark that distinguishes your work from others. Either way, if you have second thoughts about your creations, others will feel that doubt too. When you are content, humble, and proud of your creation, others will be proud of it too.
Hey Scott! We did get another laser, but we got a bigger cutting area laser from China. It's not nearly as easy to use as the Glowforge, there is a lot of trial and error. BUT it does cut bigger or more things at one time.
