I just can't get enough of hearing Kaufmann!
Truly a great singer/actor.
Wow! What a wonderful performance. He sings with tremendous ease and despite the unusual assortment of roles he performs the voice never sounded better. Bravo!!
Thank you!
Such a great artist! BRAVO!! I'm still recovering from his Parsifal HD broadcast.
How lucky you were to attend that concert! And thanks for sharing this! Loooove this tenor!!!
I was there that night, Jonas was remarkable and this literally gave me goosebumps. Truly amazing performer. Thanks so much for posting this clip. :)
Who cares if it was a hand held camera. This video captures the overall sound of singer and orchestra beautifully. One of the best of him on the tube. I listen to this video over and over again all the time. Thank you Adina for being considerate enough to capture it on film and share it with us.
Bravissimo!!!
UGH BREATH TAKING!
I was here!!! It was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G... This was his 2nd or 3rd en core!!
Did someone else noticed BIG SPIT that came from his mouth at 0:30 when he said ''seti tu FORSE un uom'' :D :D :D ... BTW J.Kaufmann is one of the best tenors in nowadays and this is in my oppinion the best interpretation of VESTI LA GIUBBA!
I'll say this: I have not heard him in a live setting and I am always impressed with his sensitivity and passion. I cannot understand the disdain of people regarding this Tenor, his technique here is flawless (save for one sloppy scoop on "Ridi"). I will continue to be a believer until he proves otherwise. Thank you for posting this!
That was extremely smart! Thank you for taking the time to do that.
bravo!
Breath taking. I was there and I can still feel the atmosphere in the Hall. Superb.
@SHICOFF1 Very good comment my friend! In Strauss leider he sounds very much like James King--whom he studied with--and unlike Vickers whom I admired a great deal in every role he sang Kaufmann has an outstanding upper register that doesn't seem to be affected by the dark coloration of his voice. His breath control is fabulous and he phrases the aria in the classic manner.
Großartig....einmalig...
Dam straight kahlica! People don't realize that even with natural talent how many years of training and it takes to reach that level.
I repeat with increasing madgeson's comment. He told the meaning of those words to the point that it made me......*sigh*.....thank God for passion!
Who was holding this camera? It looks like the person was a music stand next to the conductor. Magnificent singing
omg..the best ever.
I LOVE YOU JONAS KAUFMANN!!!!....AND FOR YOU I LOVE THE OPERA!!!
Thank you for this video.
@hightenor123
it was only a photo camera, some have a really great zoom and record in HD, sound was not so good, I replaced it with another recording
Don't know what to make of his voice. Sounds like a baritone sometimes... Or may be it's my ear for tenor voice?
@stepneymiss1 Oh lucky you ! I saw him perform in Munich recently - Don Carlos - it was electrifying.
A musicological point: the first Canio Fiorello Giraud was also a famous Wagnerian who sang Walther, Lohengrin and Siegfried.
Does anyone need me to tell them that this is great singing?
Are you kidding with your stupid comments, the original sound was loud as hell, just the mono photo camera sound. I wouldn't comment on a singer which I didn't hear live. I have heard Jonas Kaufmann at opera houses like the Met and Chicago and I heard him from any place. I'm sick of comments from people who don't have an idea what they are talking about. In future I will deactivate the comments.
This man has no shame... He always slobbers all over the place hahaha My favorite Vesti. All the drama :D
try Mario del Monaco's rendition..
he try make dark sound, but he is a tenor ... sorry mi english ...
in this aria, for the best interpretation is
Mario del monaco
Other than Pavarotti, I think he does the best Vesti la Giubba I've head on RUclips. Although he has an extremely dramatic and dark voice, he doesn't seem to express the emotional side of the ending (at your broken love! Laugh at the grief that poisons your heart). Seems like a very technical performer, if that makes since. Seems like he's got God given talent along with allot of training I'm sure. I love the sound of the orchestra at the climax in this one.
@betylu18
Welcome in a club! have the same!
Herr Villazon ist noch mehr künstlich als Kaufmann..ich bin einverstanden mit ihrer Meinung! Sincerely.vb
He is a dramatic tenor, he doesn't "try" to make deep sounds, he sings them beautifully!
mehr schrei als gesang!
This dramatical piece fits his artificial voice!
ive seen it but i dont like it, in the best part he speeds up alot
Natürlich,Domingo ist viel besser, but in vergleich mit Caruso ist sehr klein..Sincerely
I agree with your opinion,of 10 meter wird man nichts hören, weil die stimme kann nicht fliegen..singt ohne diaphragma! sincerely vb
He has too much pressure close to the end... It feels like there's something wrong with the engine...
Kaufmann is good but the best Canio is a Placido Domingo!
