@@yk.1343 I think for the model 3 they are, but on the Y the cheaper flaps don't touch the paint so either way you're good

Awesome thank you for the video just got finished. Most important tool is the flexible or 45 degree driver.
Those are probably the best made mud flaps. I’ve had those $30-40 Amazon mudflaps and they always detach where it latches onto the fender; also it’s rigid so over speed bumps it tends to chip and crack.
I also have the flat style and they've performed well!

Curious since I use. Car wash that uses soft cloth spines to wash my car and the previous flaps popped off in the front from the tire shine application.
Man I like these. I got the Amazon special ones 2 years ago before these were available. Going to cost me $600 in paintwork when I take them off. Great
I was able to just use Tesla's paint repair kit and from a normal viewing distance it looked fine.
The reason that the rear flaps are sometimes not used is that the dirt thrown up by the rear tire just hits the underside of the plastic bumper cover. If the Model Y has plastic rocker panel covers from front to back, even front flaps may not be needed to protect the paint.
That front-to-back plastic rocker panel is something I am really missing on my Model 3 !!!

I would be worried about the clips and screws rusting with all the road salt we use. Maybe switch to stainless steel screws and aluminum clips. I have found screws to be bad for mud flaps if you ever try to remove them over some time.
It maybe better that the backing is plastic instead of rusting welding into some clip or nut that is steel.
I agree it should be flat black, not gloss.
But if we keep mine and yours dirty we should be fine :) .

FYI: The mud flap kit purchased in 2022 for a post-2017 Model 3 is much different from the kit used here. The principal difference is that the new kit uses metal mounting brackets all the way around instead of clips.

I have the 2022 Model X and it kicks up a lot of mud. Unfortunately I cannot find anyone that sells mud flaps for the 2022 Model X. Does anyone have a solution?

You can install an adhesive Mylar. That will protect the pain.

BTW you can get those pop rivets (at 3:53) online for dirt cheap like the ones here www.amazon.com/KUFUNG-Retainer-Fasteners-Popular-Chrysler/dp/B08FMGTRH3/ or they also look like the same ones Toyota/Lexus makes. They sell the individually cheap in store but it's way less expensive to buy them in bulk if you need more than 1.
Huge spider on the wall around 3:00 is kinda nightmare fuel. The FSD computer in my head is great at tagging spiders. Thanks for the review!

I totally agree I was all set to get a set, but 165 for what likely would cost 30 dollars in material is way too much for my taste.

Wouldn’t I just be able to use the Tesla oem clips instead of the screw, washer and expansion anchor? The screw can rust and fall out causing a flat tire. Or would I be able to insert the white anchors given by Rally Armor and then the Tesla oem clips behind those ?
It's pretty common to use screws for mud flaps. Still running these at 30k miles with no problems
@@DirtyTesla Do you think I can use the black OEM clips from Tesla? The ones that came with the vehicle? I have a MYP. Also, have your flaps permanently bent out of shape or do they still look new. I’m in WI wheee we get huge snow and ice.

Yes this will be coming but I have one more Beta 9 video coming, then I 9.1 will be out... but this is in the plans and I will have my wife's thoughts as well.

It seems like the mud flap is of decent quality (I know a lot of folks getting rally armor for Subarus, too) but how has it faired for you going over high speed bumps, etc.? Curious if the long mud flap would hit the ground and damage the bumper, too.
I still have them on to this day (I'm 36.5k miles) and I'd say they're perfect!

I got just under 4 inches for the front clearance, and just over 5 inches for the rear clearance

Ohh they look exactly like the EV mudflaps from Canada , this one looks much easier to install

I was following along until you did the clips. It's hard to see what's going on with them.
Sorry about that! You just push the clip onto the flap and plastic of the car so that is gripping them both, once you get the kit in hand it's pretty straight forward.
I hope it gets dirty quickly because I’m not digging into that gloss.

Nice mud flaps but a terrible install system. Either that or they didn’t update it for recent changes to the plastic edging in the wheel well. The bottom clip will NOT go on because if you around the back you can feel something blocking it. The white screw anchors are terrible and spin. Not impressed.
Maybe something changed on the Model Y but I didn't have a problem and 2+ years and over 50k miles later mine are still on and doing great
