Absolutely stunning video Derek, thank you for sharing. You have captured the beauty and magic of the work they do at lamberts beautifully and really strikes home how lucky we are here in the UK/Europe to still have some traditional ‘factories’ producing. And also reminds me how blessed I am to have been involved in this craft……

Wow! What an amazing insight into how glass is made. Fascinating and so much more manual work involved that I realised. You're right Derek, machines and Ai could never replicate this! So much skill and beautifully choreographed. I hope these skills are never lost!

captivating. uniquely skilled artisans. wonder about the process of becoming an artisan. do they have a well-developed apprenticeship program? how does an interested young person become involved? (I expect that the German apprenticeship programs are much more common than in other parts of the world.) as you say, it's the dance between artisans that is so impressive. how do you instill a sense of joy in the workplace that translates into a beautiful, prideful product. I expect that long hair and beards are discouraged. thank you for this. I imagine it was great fun for you.

Hi Tod, yes it was great fun to be there and a real privilege to see the glass melting master and glass blowers at work. I believe there is an apprenticeship program in place working in house. There are no plans to have a glass blowing school to teach others outside the factory however.
