Yes Paint horse is a breed. Pinto is a color. The pinto color can be combined with any breed. If the pinto colored Saddlebred ( for example), is bred to an Arabian, you have registered half Arabian, plus a National Show registration. If you breed a registered Paint horse to an Arabian, you,still have half Arab( registered). I never heard of a Paint abian registry. Correct me if I'm wrong about the existence of a Paintabian registration. But, there is a difference between Pintos and Paints.

The cross of Arabians and Appaloosa is a Hot Blood breed. The best horse i have ever worked with, they have beautiful colors, and the most intelligent horses. Also very loyal, and easy to train. My horse Smokey was a graying roan with 4 socks and a star. He was with me a short time, only 10 years he got sick and he passed in 1988. Those 10 short years were the best years of my life, and i miss him every day.
Rare but impressive--the Hackney/Draft cross they call Commercial in Ontario. It's a beautiful harness horse. QH + TB would have a high likelihood of navicular disease, which plagues both breeds.

go look up Marwaris again -- they've been "crossed" for a long long time -- they are considered a breed now, NOT a crossbred
