Thank you for making the video, I am sick to use a PoEuncrasher just not to lock up my Pc, the game still crashes like every 1 h or so DirectX12 error, It's the issue with nVidia they spoke about on the podcasts, but I didn't try the latest beta driver so don't know if it's true what nvidia said that shouldn't happen anymore, also it's that the game has issues definitely, I have another system with Intel and AMD GPU and there are graphical errors! My main rig is 9800x3d and 4090. I know that my system is 100% stable before some makes any comments about memory, I did the same tests as Bildzoid dose and for 24 h.
@Kat_Kuvers turning off processors, details, etc.. even if that would be a fix... shouldn't be a thing ... as a customer, the only thing you should do is use the product no matter what the product is... if anyone is seeing this differently, they need to stop and get some help
@@CyrusBlack404 That sounds nice and dandy and all but with the ever expanding in both directions (new and old) PC hardware and operating systems this is quite literally impossible for a developer to get 100% right. There will be hiccups and certain setups that just will perform worse. If you want this utopian world where every single gamer can just install and play with zero issues then console gaming is your destination. Playing on PC is a double edged sword that every gamer has to be aware of. Some games will just not perform well on certain systems. PoE 1 for the longest time had horrible frame rates for me on my mid-end PC but then I tried it a year later and it ran mostly great. If you are frustrated by having to tinker with settings in games don't play PC. That's literally the advantage of playing on PC. Being able to tune up or down settings based on your needs and your system's strengths.
Add my anecdotal experience to the mix- I had multiple crash to desktop shortly after launch. At first it seemed to be DX12, had no crashes with Vulkan for the longest time but it reappeared. Ultimately I ended up upgrading CPU cooler and haven't had a single crash since: i7-13700k on a Noctua NH-D15s- upgraded from NH-U12Redux
i have the Win 24H2 issue as well. Using Geforce 4080 win 11. I always have to enable disable multithreading when switching between map and hideout. This is super annoying but hopefully gets fixed over time.. cant sit back cuz ive got builds to share to the community as well
i did a full win11 clean reinstall and the issue seems gone now, it was an hourly freeze for me, and had to go back to win10 to play for the past few weeks, but i tried and seems good now. gpu scheduling and variable refresh rate seem to play a part to the crashing. suspect with variable on then switch task, is doing something /shrug. im sure some ppl have issues, but also, the amount of awful settings i see ppl have when they ask me to help them with their pc tells me there is alot more to do with user on this then ppl want to admit. also the crashes were for any high cpu task not just poe1 or 2 though they were the easiet to hit the peak breaking point on.
@@xypha85 the problem with win10 is that the downloadable version only has the latest 24H2 of win 10.. you'd be lucky if you already have the previous good old version
@ Windows 10's last major update was in 2022, hence the name of the update - 22h2. So yes, thats correct, the update was and still is 22h2. They wont be releasing any more major updates.
Weirdly enough, I've only crashed a handful of times in the almost 500 hours I've put into PoE2. Almost always it's when I nuke a particularly dense breach that I get some sort of sprite error or something of that nature, I can't remember the actual wording. The issue I have is FPS - my CPU and GPU are above and beyond recommended hardware and I can't get more than 30-50 FPS at most points. Everything is up to date, but I can't figure out what's causing it.
I just played first time yesterday 20 hours on PS5. Only one crash. 77% at 1440p 60fps looks amazing on OLED tv. It was after patch. Consoles have advantages
I feel bad for the people who have had serious PC issues from games. PoE 2 for me hasn't had any issues at all. From launch to today I have not had 1 single crash or buggy framerates, nothing. Only frame rate dips I've had were due to my PC being not the greatest but I also chalk some of that up to GGG's work as PoE 1 was like this for the longest time until they made big improvements but PoE 1 still has issues with performance when doing deep end game content juiced up maps.
Idk im running an old intel i5 9600kf cpu 16 gig ram and an old nvidia geoforce gtx 1650 and I'm only ever soft crashing to desktop very rarely and I mean almost never ..the one thing I did along time ago was I manually enabled uac virtualization and dedicated 8 gigs to a soft overflow dump while prioritizing virtual memory over multithreading I did this when I was having crash outs when trying to run star citizen
I have a EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ultra in my main rig with a AMD Ryzen 7900X and I did tend to get crashes every once in awhile when I had it on DirectX mode and ever since changing it to Vulcan I've gotten like maybe one crash in a whole week. But from what they were saying in the podcast talk with a few of the players they said Nvidia mentioned the next driver update seems to fix it but they're still not sure what was causing it.
I had this happen when i decided to try Win 11. I used Lasso, did some stuff (power saving mode, etc), Vulcan Rendering, nothing really helped. It would be stable for X hours and then crash out of nowhere. Some of those things helped a bit, but none of them really helped fix the issue. It was still crashing and some of the times my PC was still freezing. I said "f it" and went back to Win 10. All issues gone. I know a few people that had the same issue and went back to Win 10 and they dont have it anymore. I have not seen any proof that the issue is caused by anything but Win 24h2 update. Also just to add, the game still crashes from time to time. Not as much as before, but it still crashes like once a day. It never crashes my PC though.
My question is what are you doing differently than all of us? Are you playing with mouse and keyboard? Are you playing with the game pad? Are you using both?

My brother with intel 13 something and amd 7900xtx on Win 10 cannot even reach login screen anymore to change something or try something. He plays on his daughter's laptop. I have crashes on win 11 with nvidia 4090 and 7900x3d, but i still can play with at least 1 crash a day....
I personally think it's a coding issue with GGG and the game itself, just like how some people still have the same issue that was in PoE1 where they would have the setting for Fullscreen, and randomly would get a Windowed version when logging into the game at times.
What exactly has everyone tried without success? From the sound of these crashes, they definitely sound like an OS problem. Have the crashes only happened on Windows 11? Have they occurred on Windows 10? Have they occurred on Debian? Have they occurred only while using DirectX? Presumably Intel and AMD CPUs are both affected in addition to AMD and NVIDIA GPUs?
I have Win11 23H2 with 13th gen i7 - 3.4GHz, GeForce 4080, 32 GB RAM and poe2 crashes randomly too. not very often and randomly - sometimes I can play without crashes for hours and sometimes once every hour or so. what bothers me more is long loading time and occasional audio stutters despite the 350 mbps optical fiber internet and low ping. I tried a lot of different settings but still have these issues. other games work fine. switching to Vulkan doesn't work for me. While playing I always press F1 to monitor the fps and etc and noticed occasional, but huge spikes in latency. I think part of the issue is GGG servers plus game is not fully optimized yet.
The issue is with 24H2, not 23H2 and the issue is not just crashing. The game freezes and starts utilizing every possible core of your CPU resulting in Windows Explorer freezing as well. If you limit your CPU usage to the game, you might be able to go to the Task Manager and terminate PoE's process. Otherwise the only other way to fix that is to power off/restart.

Although being able to play every other game fine besides poe2 points to it being the main culprit. I played POE2 until 09 januari without issues on my 7 year old intel processor and win10 + 4070ti (about hunderd hours). Upgraded to amd and win 11 and since then lock ups. I played since the upgrade hours on games like Stalker 2, Ashes of creation, Baldurs gate 3, Warhammer 40k and D4 without an issue. And yes i know all the workarounds, but not gonna make changes for 1 game that has this issue.
I never crash on a 3060ti and intel i5 cpu, it might be multiple different reasons people crash. I would try and do a clean install of windows 11, a complete wipe. If that's not possible for whatever reason next thing I would try is uninstall video drivers with DDU. Then reinstall the latest drivers. In my experience, reinstalling the game almost never fixes anything. It sounds dumb, but sometimes, certain hardware like printers or anything else connected via USB might cause issues. Basically anything with drivers. Any overlay software might be causing crashes. Lastly I would mention any overclocking to your PC might cause instability. Try underclocking your graphics card and if possible, your CPU.
There's a big button on forums to only filter posts by GGG staff, only in front of threads they have posted in. Multithreading crashes are also listed in the stickied Known Issues thread as the second of the High Priority issues. And yeah, if you follow PoE1 forums a bit, and/or don't have a recent gaming desktop, you would know that GGG is pretty bad at optimization, and these issues only got worse over the years, even relative to current hardware ! (On release in 2012, reading the discussions, looks like you actually *could* (mostly) play PoE1 on the promised "everyday laptop with 2 Go of RAM and a (recent) integrated graphic card" !) The worst part is that there's nothing you can turn down when limited by CPU, and for some unfathomable reason PoE2 is quite CPU-demanding... (WTF is going on in that Act 3 Drowned City to make the CPU to work so hard without enemies on screen - physics simulation of flopping fish ?!)
I've hard crashed 3 times before I started taking cpu 0 and 1 out... the game hasn't crashed since. Windows 10 22H2 10850K Nvidia 4070ti Super super clean system (I've been in IT for over 25 years). Only game that crashes that I play, even Stalker 2 runs fine with no issues.
Yeah PoE1 had nvidia issues for 10 years already with different CPU's and GPU's, my only real fix was using AMD GPU. Been crash free for 2 years now with 7900XTX. But those crashes were more like non error CTD's on Nvidia, as the PC has never actually hard crashed like that. In worst cases I just lost an important map if nothing else, which was mildly infurating. AMD CPU Crashers probably have that Win 24H2 issue in PoE2 though. Those are 2 isolated issues that many people can have, since Nvidia GPU's and now AMD CPU's are really popular combination. Do intel + radeon reports still also appear in there? I've had 0 issues 7800X3D because I haven't upgraded to 24H2, as I'm still using 23H2. Stopped thinking about upgrading when people reported the issue. Actually postponed the update since the latest update had many issues in other stuff too, so this PoE2 incompatibility is just the cherry on top of that crap update.
I had my system BSOD once with PoE2 running in the background and while watching a youtube video. Thankfully it didnt brick my computer so i kind of shrugged it off and considered it as a one-off. I just stopped watching youtube altogether while the game is running just like when i am typing this comment to avoid repeating the same thing again if ever the one i experienced is actually causing the issue. I also had some crashes if the game stays on idle for a while even if it is not running in the background, probably around 3 times or so. I am using AMD CPU + AMD GPU with the game running on custom settings, mostly low-mid for high fps, except textures, also running 30fps when PoE2 is running on the background so that it wont use alot of cpu power.
I had BSODs after 2-3 minutes of play. Constantly. Like 4-5 times in a row. It was completely unplayable. It is "new" system and it had stability issue. Could crash once or twice a day randomly. It could easily pass 30 min AIDA stress test and then BSOD on idle. POE 2 just "highlighted" the issue. I digged in and figured out a solution. The issue is exactly with CPU and its load/power management. Now the game runs fine.
You are misunderstanding the meaning of Early Access. It does not mean you get to access the game earlier than everyone and enjoy a benefit or w/e you wanna call it. You get access to the game earlier but you are also a tester. The game is available to certain amount of people who may or may not have paid for it. The purpose is to test the game while development goes.

There's a few things I want to know. How often are these people crashing, and what is the hardware each person is using. Because it's possible a bulk of these reports are people like me who crash like once a day and it just gets on peoples nerves enough they're loud as if it's a bigger issue, and people who are trying to run the game on too low end hardware or their heatsink is clogged and the CPU heavy POE2 is causing the game to crash. Just because some people are running high end hardware and crashing doesn't inherently mean there's a ton of people dealing with the same issue. How many of those people ARE running the new W11 update? How many are on W10? These are things that each and every single person reporting the issue needs to make clear so GGG doesn't think what I'm thinking. We get it, some people are on W10, with high end hardware and crashing countless times a day, but is that really just like 0.00001% of the playerbase and some freak occurrences with their GGG account or something? Or maybe their internet(which isn't changing) is spiking to 8k ms ping randomly several times a day and booting them from the game. What is REALLY going on here, that needs to be made clear as crystal.
90% of those people are crashing because the game is unstable and has bugs still. The 10% are the ones that are actually crashing and freezing due to win 11 24h2, at least in my opinion.
Ye - It's just a 500 dollar game. 5000 dollar game for Elon Musk and his RMT... But still. This is a product that should be refundable if the game developer is not able to provide support for it to work. It's true that POE1 had this issue. I never had it - but this happens on ALL 3 of my setups in POE 2. It's PCU related and has nothing to do with video cards. Why GGG isn't responding to all this forum feedback? Cause it's not a priority for them to have players actually playing their game. F2P games are very happy to see 10%, 20% - even 50% of the playerbase have issues as long as they are making money out of it. Everyone pretty much knows this is the game engine causing the issue but hey... you paid GGG 30-500 dollars so they don't care any more than other F2P games. And THAT is why they do not respond to the issue.
I'm surprised that GGG isn't nerfing the builds that are putting excess stress on the servers. If I was a developer, and players were exploiting skills that put massive load on the server, I would hot fix or pull the item/skill until a fix was ready. This is Early Access, I don't know why GGG isn't reflexively rolling out changes.
Some people haven't even done their citadels yet. Also, they would rather let people play their broken builds then to play whackamole. They need to finish the game and fine tune it. They can play whackamole before a new economy. At this point the damage has beeb done. Also, only one playing those builds that crash your games are no life streamers farming their viewers.

On ps5, My game crashes every time I fight the act 3 main boss. Also crashed during my 3rd ascendancy trial. Room before boss.

Switching from DirectX to Vulkan fixed everything for me.

I got to 89 and 88, and now I can't sign in and play at all... my maps crash out if I can even get to my hideout, the fuck

Its a DX12 + Windows issues i think (at least it was for me)
I fixed that by going Vulcan and getting my Ram Clocked correctly

(On release in 2012, reading the discussions, looks like you actually *could* (mostly) play PoE1 on the promised "everyday laptop with 2 Go of RAM and a (recent) integrated graphic card" !)
The worst part is that there's nothing you can turn down when limited by CPU, and for some unfathomable reason PoE2 is quite CPU-demanding... (WTF is going on in that Act 3 Drowned City to make the CPU to work so hard without enemies on screen - physics simulation of flopping fish ?!)

Just build new PC couple month ago: 7800X3D 4070S. Crashing every hour or every second map. Have no issues at all in other games.
I've hard crashed 3 times before I started taking cpu 0 and 1 out... the game hasn't crashed since. Windows 10 22H2 10850K Nvidia 4070ti Super super clean system (I've been in IT for over 25 years). Only game that crashes that I play, even Stalker 2 runs fine with no issues.
You being in IT doesnt mean you are a hardware geek :D I've worked with some QAs that can barely operate their system.
Yeah PoE1 had nvidia issues for 10 years already with different CPU's and GPU's, my only real fix was using AMD GPU. Been crash free for 2 years now with 7900XTX.
But those crashes were more like non error CTD's on Nvidia, as the PC has never actually hard crashed like that. In worst cases I just lost an important map if nothing else, which was mildly infurating. AMD CPU Crashers probably have that Win 24H2 issue in PoE2 though. Those are 2 isolated issues that many people can have, since Nvidia GPU's and now AMD CPU's are really popular combination. Do intel + radeon reports still also appear in there?
I've had 0 issues 7800X3D because I haven't upgraded to 24H2, as I'm still using 23H2. Stopped thinking about upgrading when people reported the issue. Actually postponed the update since the latest update had many issues in other stuff too, so this PoE2 incompatibility is just the cherry on top of that crap update.

I had my system BSOD once with PoE2 running in the background and while watching a youtube video. Thankfully it didnt brick my computer so i kind of shrugged it off and considered it as a one-off. I just stopped watching youtube altogether while the game is running just like when i am typing this comment to avoid repeating the same thing again if ever the one i experienced is actually causing the issue.
I also had some crashes if the game stays on idle for a while even if it is not running in the background, probably around 3 times or so.
I am using AMD CPU + AMD GPU with the game running on custom settings, mostly low-mid for high fps, except textures, also running 30fps when PoE2 is running on the background so that it wont use alot of cpu power.
I had BSODs after 2-3 minutes of play. Constantly. Like 4-5 times in a row. It was completely unplayable. It is "new" system and it had stability issue. Could crash once or twice a day randomly. It could easily pass 30 min AIDA stress test and then BSOD on idle. POE 2 just "highlighted" the issue. I digged in and figured out a solution. The issue is exactly with CPU and its load/power management. Now the game runs fine.
I paid for EARLY access. There is no point in telling me to just wait until it is fixed. The EARLY part will be gone. :/
You are misunderstanding the meaning of Early Access. It does not mean you get to access the game earlier than everyone and enjoy a benefit or w/e you wanna call it. You get access to the game earlier but you are also a tester. The game is available to certain amount of people who may or may not have paid for it. The purpose is to test the game while development goes.

There's a few things I want to know. How often are these people crashing, and what is the hardware each person is using. Because it's possible a bulk of these reports are people like me who crash like once a day and it just gets on peoples nerves enough they're loud as if it's a bigger issue, and people who are trying to run the game on too low end hardware or their heatsink is clogged and the CPU heavy POE2 is causing the game to crash.
Just because some people are running high end hardware and crashing doesn't inherently mean there's a ton of people dealing with the same issue. How many of those people ARE running the new W11 update? How many are on W10? These are things that each and every single person reporting the issue needs to make clear so GGG doesn't think what I'm thinking.
We get it, some people are on W10, with high end hardware and crashing countless times a day, but is that really just like 0.00001% of the playerbase and some freak occurrences with their GGG account or something? Or maybe their internet(which isn't changing) is spiking to 8k ms ping randomly several times a day and booting them from the game. What is REALLY going on here, that needs to be made clear as crystal.
90% of those people are crashing because the game is unstable and has bugs still. The 10% are the ones that are actually crashing and freezing due to win 11 24h2, at least in my opinion.
Ye - It's just a 500 dollar game. 5000 dollar game for Elon Musk and his RMT... But still. This is a product that should be refundable if the game developer is not able to provide support for it to work. It's true that POE1 had this issue. I never had it - but this happens on ALL 3 of my setups in POE 2. It's PCU related and has nothing to do with video cards.
Why GGG isn't responding to all this forum feedback? Cause it's not a priority for them to have players actually playing their game. F2P games are very happy to see 10%, 20% - even 50% of the playerbase have issues as long as they are making money out of it.
Everyone pretty much knows this is the game engine causing the issue but hey... you paid GGG 30-500 dollars so they don't care any more than other F2P games. And THAT is why they do not respond to the issue.
I'm surprised that GGG isn't nerfing the builds that are putting excess stress on the servers. If I was a developer, and players were exploiting skills that put massive load on the server, I would hot fix or pull the item/skill until a fix was ready.
This is Early Access, I don't know why GGG isn't reflexively rolling out changes.
Some people haven't even done their citadels yet. Also, they would rather let people play their broken builds then to play whackamole. They need to finish the game and fine tune it. They can play whackamole before a new economy. At this point the damage has beeb done. Also, only one playing those builds that crash your games are no life streamers farming their viewers.

This is such a moronic take. If they think it's the Nvidia drivers causing the issue of course they're going to work with Nvidia. IF it's not the AMD driver that's causing crashes on those systems of course they will not work with AMD to fix a problem that doesn't exists. How is that hard to understand?
