I always thought he was more of a skilled player 'mechanic wise' (of you want to use game terms) and not necessarily the most strategic. But I would like to think otherwise.
@@youniques1316i mean its kinda both. In soccer you have to be paying attention to the opposing teams movement so you know where to go, so you are always thinking ahead and working off of that. So there is an innate level of strategy because if you’re always playing reactively, you’ll always be a step behind (Like most sports). Not quite to the same degree as games, where you are thinking 15-30 seconds ahead (if not more). For sports it’s more like I 3-5 seconds ahead unless it’s a slower paced sport. But yes Messi, is more known for his technical skill (mechanics) than his overall ability to play the field.
