I've tried lots of things for anxiety and found some benefits with Ashwagandha, pink salt, magnesium calm, possibly 5htp, and larger doses of Valerian Root. Valerian Root helps for sure. Just recently, I tried Lemon Balm 500mg the first time and it was like I was high all day. A little too much that first time. I have been sleeping so much better on it. I bought the Tincture as well now, so I can find the right dosage. Lemon Balm is the closest thing I have found to a cure thus far. I hope it continues to work for me.

This video is perfect timing for me. I've grown some lemon balm this year, so I'm off to make a cup of tea now! Thank you John.

I never knew of lemon balm's calming properties! I've always thought of it as a topical, anti-herpes medicine. And a fragrant insect repellent, which I hadn't thought to use as a car freshener! Ha! I love your shelves background and John explained the gentle effects of lemon balm very clearly. Thank you!

    Thanks for the info!
I have had many encounters with the benefits of lemon balm. The first time that I saw its miraculous results was about 15 years ago when my daughter was feeling really sick after eating ham that wasn't totally fresh and she was on her way to the hospital. I went to meet her and on my way I purchased a small bottle of water and a Melissa tea pouch at a cafe. I placed the pouch inside the water and brought it to my daughter... about fifteen minutes later when I arrived my daughter was pale and yellowish feeling the digestive discomfort typical of food poisoning, she started drinking the cold tea from the bottle and once she was finished she was feeling 100% better. Before my intervention she was headed for the hospital where she would have been left to wait until a doctor would attend to her and probably bombard her with all kinds of medication. I have used and abused of lemon balm since then as it grows in my property. Last night after having eaten way too many Star cookies which immediately made my stomach feel bloated, I went to bed feeling quite uncomfortable and soon after I had to get up feeling quite miserable which led me to the bathroom with chills. I picked some fresh Melissa threw it into a large cup of boiled water and started drinking it after letting it steep for 5 minutes. After half a cup of tea my total discomfort started to fade and several sips later I was back to my normal self! This is absolutely true, I recommend this plant to everyone. I usually chop up a few bits of the plant which I add to my salads! It's a godsend!

Ive been wondering what that wild plant was in my yard. I grow lemon balm that I purchased and it’s totally different than what you are showing? Are there two types of lemon balm plants? Thank you and great video. 💚💛💚💛

Hi Torrie, This is John's answer: "There is another species variety called lime balm but it has the same botanical name. As far as I know, it probably has the same medicinal properties but I am not familiar with lime balm, only lemon balm. I have observed that sometimes lemon balm can be dark green and other times blanched by the sun. Other than that I'm not sure that it looks different. It is said to smell more like lime than lemon. I hope that helps!"

Honestly, I usually prefer making a tea with the bulk herb. As far as a tincture, I don't have a brand, but I favor ones made with fresh plant material. Thanks

How long do the effects of a cup of lemon balm tea stay on for or what is the half life?
    Thanks

Herbs generally last a couple hours in the body. I know of no research on the half life of lemon balm.

      Hi Holly,
The flowers are pretty small. I encourage you to look this year, probably mid summer. Warmly, Elaine
