What a brilliant idea; I would never have thought to make my own inks... and using old pens is just amazing. Now I can make a real red one which is hard to find. Thank you for showing us 🫶
Thank you so so much, Darling. If you thay inspired me about a make and thought, i would do tomorrow with them. Hehe.. Yeah, the pens are different types, but let's see if my version works... haha.. thank you as always for supporting and inspiring me ❤️
Yeh i just didn't because 1 I don't like green and 2 when I put the blue and yellow down that's going to make green anyway but others who make them can mix the colours together to make a green. I also didn't know how these were going to be in resin, so I can't advise people to do stuff if I don't know the reaction with resin.
I could have also mixed the powder in the pots with the alcohol but I didn't have enough pots, haha.. I never thought to stick my tool down. I'll give that a try if I ever make some again. Thanks for the tip!
Thanks for this tutorial Dee, I have seen a handful of videos of making your own alcohol inks and yours has been the most informative!! I will give this a try in the future❤ Hugs and Love - Beverly
Thank you so so much Beverly that's means a lot, and yes, definitely do. I can't wait to test them out.. Hehe, thanks as always for supporting and inspiring me, plus also being such an amazing friend 🧡
Beautiful colors! Hey I saw a video from Tim Holz/Ranger talking about making inks and he said if we’re going to make them to add a few mls of Blending Solution to each bottle. Something about the Blending Solution contains a resin in it that binds the inks to the paper or whatever we use it on so it doesn’t wipe off after the alcohol absorbs. I had made a big set of inks from a bunch of micas a long time ago that I hadn’t used for over a year.. when I came back to use them the alcohol was gone and powder was all that was left. So I made a batch with the Blending Solution after watching that video and it worked much better in the long run. It also didn’t come off on my fingers when I wiped at it like the plain alcohol versions did. I’d imagine spraying the artwork with Kamar varnish or similar would seal the inks too. For me I would rather skip the varnish and do it at the start bc I don’t always remember it 😂 Anyway.. love your channel and ty for sharing 🌹🌹🌹
Yes, i heard about this. It's a binder. White singer needs a binder. Daniel Cooper did an experiment, and he found that a little spray of hairspray into his homemade white silker made his sinker white work and binder better in the resin. Thank you. It's always great information to have as at least your stuff hasn't gone to waste. Thank you for sharing that, and thank you for watching and commenting... ❤️
Absolutely awesome tutorial Dee… that’s the simplest, easiest to follow lesson I’ve seen on DIY alcohol inks!! Thanks so much for sharing… I truly appreciate you!! Nat. ♥️♥️🇦🇺
You will find out later lol, hehe. But it will be good if it does work. There may be something I need to add to bind the paint and even the mica powders to the resin.. I'll test it later. Thanks, Kathryn, as always ❤️

You could also mix the blue and the yellow to make a green if you have leftovers. ❤

Fun stuff here
Thanks Tim
So informative 😊 thank you 💚
Thanks ❤️
very informative
Thanks 😃
If you use your thin ended tool to poke the powder in it is much easier❤❤

Thank you so so much, Nat, as always. I'm pleased you found it simple, hehe 😜
Now, to test them tomorrow
❤️
@ I am very much looking forward to it!! ♥️♥️🇦🇺
@mattersofthehartbynat8815 Thanks, darling ❤️
Could you have used the blue and yellow to make green?
I hate green lol that's why didn't make any amd when I use them tomorrow for a project I'll get green anyway regardless.
Brilliant idea, love how helpful your tutorials are, can’t wait to try this 🥰
Thank you so so much, Sasha. I'm pleased people are finding them useful ❤️ 💙
Fantastic idea, I’ll have to try this when I’ve got pen’s running out, but I’ve got mica powder I can use. Thank you Donna x❤
Yeh it a good idea to try and see if it works will save some pennies hehe. Much pleasure Lesley and thank you as always ❤️
Interested to see how well the paint works. I have a bunch of paint in small tubes to try.
You will find out later lol, hehe. But it will be good if it does work. There may be something I need to add to bind the paint and even the mica powders to the resin.. I'll test it later. Thanks, Kathryn, as always ❤️
I will be trying it.
Thank you Rebecca 😊
