First off, thank you! TY for putting this channel together! Never holds knowledge back (maybe prime hunting grounds;) over the last year I truly I have ventured throughout the vast rabbit hole of meteoritics. I have so many ideas for video subjects + playlists, reoccurring series! Actually utilizing the information gathered via publicly available papers published by top ivy leagues, looked at thousands of pictures, :( limited time, opportunity rather, physically handling the whopping amount of meteorites I've had the pleasure to handle. I digress, my references are top notch and yet you can add on, expand upon, or completely introduce me to a new reason to be amazed w/ the vehicle what (likely) my primordial form would arrive. Molecules morphing and arranging into all Earth's organic matter... yesterdays video partly answered a very illucive question no book, person, not even Google couldn't answer, presumably because enough meteorwrongs are submitted often enough, I suspect it's some unspoken, unpublished for a reason video series, concepts, and topic requests below.
Secondly I was hoping you might get around to discuss various things (some opinion based. -a short series illuminating the variations every class contains: levels of shock, melt, and other variations of class and clades? -martain & lunar aside which class has nonmagmetic meteorites aren't magnetic, at least let Google know. -I would love to see a video of the meteorite with break all the rules or are the exception to the rule. -Perhaps meteorites that contain features which contradict I.D. shorthand six or so basic identifying markers to expedite any analysis in the field during the hunt. Afterthought: a video illustrating various different minerals, crystals, elements, and curious inclusions. -Oddities in the field of meteoritics(the meteorite found to have collided and consolidated into a single structure, others alike the unlikely events found to have occurred. -Meteorites used in: historical rituals, forged into tools, cutting (smashing) board, weapons, other historical records, other events in the entire meteoritic history which comes to your mind that fits the bill. -Detailing relic meteorites, how they were discovered & identified, physical characteristics. -Maybe the variety of color that is been found on all meteorites. -Also the colors of fireballs and the corresponding mineral which produces it -I would love to know what discovery you always mention at a party, maybe your favorite fun fact, or personal introduction to Meteorites. - A compilation of your favorite specimen of every class would also be most excellent & undoubtedly epic! -certainly research has led to at least one unanswered question. or curious inferences made by a study
This is seriously a great list of things to throw in some upcoming hangouts! Thanks for the feedback. With a wider range of people joining us, the subjects and knowledge increases weekly. I actually have "panspermia" as an upcoming topic. You should join us and listen in live or share. Stay tuned!!! Quick question: What was the question that was answered? @@TopherspinMeteorites brother man, you share my passion and so you'll have to forgive me for getting lost on a tangent. I was curious about Meteorites, other than the lunar and Martian basalts that aren't magnetic or only have a light attraction. Well, LL's was a partial answer and it gave me the idea to look up the free metal content of the Meteorite family tree. So once again, thanks friend! And I always listen in, can't wait for the panspermia episode.. my facinaton with how and why of life's started and got to this point is in part what sparked my curiosity! Lmfao I’m gonna send this video to a local college geologist that told me idk what it is but it’s not magnetic ( as she placed one of those almost glass smooth egg like magnets on one of my rocks and watched it slide off) lol yeah at that point I just said huh ok kool good to know and thank you and didn’t even bother to shower just how magnetic it actually was because I knew at that point she didn’t have a clue as to what I had brought her.. but then again I don’t either but I can say this it damn sure look like metal when you cut it and on the outside crust but I plan on sending it off for testing when I figure out how much it cost.. lol it’s funny a lot of those places don’t list a price for testing makes you wonder geeez how much is it lol
There are only a few places in the country that will test and classify a meteorite. It costs about $400 minimum and about 6 months to do. However most of the scientists and lab use experts like me to rule out 99.9% of all submissions as being not meteorites. If they tested every sample they were offered all they would be doing is testing Earth rocks all day long. Their time and machines are too expensive for that.
