Cool video, I know absolutely nothing about falconry but between the interesting topic, your clear delivery, solid production and nice choice in music (fell in love with the piano piece "The Quiet Creek" at the beginning of the vid!) this has been really enjoyable to watch, good job!

Top tips mate, I can not see why people don't use hoods across the species it makes life for us easier and less stressful for the birds... simples

I’ve recently started training a bald eagle and I couldn’t even get him to stand on the glove without the hood, now he’s comfortable walking around and even jumping to the glove all because I started with a hood

Very informative, my HH is made to the hood, i have used it a few times and its saved the day , tractors, whilst others Falcons about, and one when a lost HH turned up whilst out hunting, not one of mine by the way, I quickly hooded mine and through some chicks to it , trying to see if it was possible to catch on another occasion, it was to wild , if I didn't have my hood then my hawk wood just go and eat the chicks.
    Great video.

Great video! Loved the thorough description leading up to it and an actual first time hooding so we can see a natural reaction. Im actually surprised you can even get it that close to her chest and face when first introduced. Is this because there is some level of trust? Also are you not afraid she will poke your eye out?

@@MercerFalconry thanx, there is so much advice out there that differs, I have various books on Harris hawks one swears by the hood the other says he never uses them with a Harris , some say make sure it has cast incase it chokes b4 fitting a hood , I think I will hood train mine as it seems a handy tool to have as well as a dark travel box and see how it goes , it may as well be hood trained even if you end up not needing it do you agree, great videos mate I love watching them 👍
