- In recent times, Boeing has faced a series of difficulties with their latest generation of aircraft, the 737 MAX. From groundings to certification delays to plug doors blowing out, the 737 MAX line-up has had more than its fair share of troubles and is losing popularity with each passing day. But what if Boeing already has an answer to its MAX troubles in the form of another plane?
The New Midsize Airplane AKA the Boeing 797 is a concept that Boeing had been developing but halted to focus on the 737 MAX. But with the MAX now facing all sorts of issues and severely harming Boeing’s reputation, this New Midsize Airplane could be the last hope for Boeing. And here’s why.

The software errors that led to the two 737 crashes could have been fixed with additional programming that would have taken 200 to 300 hours of extra work, including testing. But Boeing took a shortcut.
Meanwhile Airbus sells lots of 321 xlr and is in the comfortable position to being able to develop a bigger successor because it has the a220 range to cover the smaller sizes.
The Ultra fan from RR is so far in the test stage and the current engine is sized to fit the A350/777(x).
And there are no available modern engines from the other manufacturers either. This is probably Boeing’s biggest problem, they must have an engine that fits the aircraft 100% or else it can’t compete due to inefficiency.
It costs billions of usd to develop a new engine and it takes time, 5++ years. No engine manufacturers would do this if they can sell a certain number of engines.
There is not many 757/767 still flying today and the A321 is there already as a good replacement on certain 757 routes.
For about 15 years. Boeing made wrong choices. And the Max chaos led to 40 billions of debt. So I'm afraid Boeing is not able to even think about a new plane before 5 years....what a disaster....
Short time profit before lang time security
A new airplane ✈️ like the 797 may be the only possibility for Boeing to survive as a big company on the long run, meaning from 2030 onwards in order to compete with Airbus
@@smcitconsultinggmbh991 maybe you are right but for my analysis it's not possible before 10 years since the debt is so huge.....only the federal authorities can save Boeing....
Dispite numerous delay with the type, hey should really just continue with the Dreamliner! If they could get their act together an stop dreaming 737s varients All the time!!
I could feasibly see a middle of the marker varient of the Dreamliner flying by 2040 or little 5 years longer!..😊
A clean sweep of management and move towards engineering dominance could reestablish the reputation of Boeing.
Look at how incapable they are of getting the MAX7 and MAX10 and the new 777X variants into service. Unless they were intending to use the 737's ancient cable bell crank era control system then what did the MAX have to do with a new aircraft? They should be taking the FBW from the 777 and 787, but they contract that out too. Boeing blew $34 billion on the 787 and there's no sign that they have learned their lessons from that debacle.
Don’t hold your breath for Boeing to be saved.
Boeng needs to stop maximizing profits by cutting corners, and begin maximizing safety and build good airplanes instead!
The plural fot “aircraft” is… “aircraft”.
If Boeing doesn't start answering some NTSB questions pretty quick, Boing is going to get their teeth kicked in. Just saying.
Boeing wile be fine, its their trial by fire from the FAA & AIRBUS & Its own failures with the EMBRAER Merger!
Focus more on the Dreamliner, they need do! Soo many amazing varients they could milk from the Dreamliner blueprint & The experience they've gainedfrom constructing it...
The plural of aircraft is aircraft.
There is no such thing as “Aircrafts”
Nope. Boeing, after the 37, 87, lawsuits wasted all available resources
If Boeing would have, a decade ago, pursued a new generation... Yeah
All new design of 737 if they develop earlier things would be very different like 787 design a small version with 215/230 pax version it would be totally different picture
Sadly, the name Boeing means possible danger, and the very last thing anyone boarding a plane needs to think about is, possible danger.
The 797 was cancelled years ago. What was suppose to be a 757/767 replacement went to the bin when Max's started crashing. The CEO of Boeing at the beginning of the 2020's said ...No new aircraft until the mid 2030s or later. He cited a lack of innovation in the up coming products. He said Boeing would be back when the could offer a meaningful 30-35% increase in efficiency. A dream. Boeing needs to concentrate on doing things right. Because another major crash will change the companies future. Not in a good way.
But it does not help: The B-737 is an old dragon. The cockpit section is still from the 707. It is hard to make profit with this old stuff. A-320 is much younger, and Airbus is thinking about its successor with newer technology.
@@gottfriedheumesser1994 Boeing has needed a clean sheet design for about 25 years now. As long as they can throw a few updates on an old design and lobby congress to bypass safety systems required on all other aircraft, it wont happen. Profit Over People is Boeings new moto.
The plans at that time were cancelled, in order to concentrate on the crisis. The need for a new aircraft remains, even though the details of the plan may have changed.
AircraftS? 😂😂😂. It’s 1 aircraft, 2 aircraft, 3 aircraft…..
yes 797 to replace 757 and 737 max. This could be a gamechanger. That said Boeing shouldn't rush it because it did that withother models like 737 max and look where all those shortcuts got them
The 737 MAX won't be replaced as long as there is a backlog of orders.
Boeing is in no position to launch a new plane. They need all their eggs focused on getting the max 7 and 10 into service and delivery numbers recovering. I dont see a new plane launch coming
Your nuts if you think any regular flyers who lived anywhere near Seattle would fly on a Max. The company is sick, rot from the inside. Without a new plane, they're done.
@@longhorndb They already have a new plane, the 777x. It's years behind schedule. Their max deliveries are halted, United is threatening to cancel its order. Boeing has a desperate need to clear its backlog. A clean sheet, new from scratch plane at this point of time is really not advisable. You said it yourself, rotting from the top down. The max will be replaced when the next revolution in engine technology is financially viable, being the open fan engine.
It doesn't matter if Boeing fixes or improves the 737Max if regular people refuse to fly on it! I will never fly on one ever, and everyone I know also has vowed never to fly on a 737Max. Boeing needs to face the reality of their bad decisions, and clean sheet build anything else starting right now.
@@angelarch5352 you can feel that way, thats fine. But as I type this and you read it, there's a max taking off or landing successfully with no issues. It's not an inherently bad plane, the issue is toxic management and quality control. They have serious egg on their face and I'm certainly not proud of them as an American company. But Boeing desperately needs the max to succeed, it's their cash cow. Right now, theyre too short on cash to fund the development of a clean sheet aircraft
WHERE IS LOCKHEED????
THEY NEED TO COME BACK AND DESIGN NEW COMMERCIAL PLANES AGAIN!!
About time the Boeing board fires the management team and bring confidence back
It takes too long to develop new airplannes. It seems that each airplane platform is unique. Airline development has no economy of scale.
Boeing should first get their act together and return to their tried and true business model of the past - the best possible planes they can build, not the "maximum possible profits by any means necessary" of today before they even THINK about developing a new plane. And they should forget about composites- fibreglass by any other name - for now.
You need tons of cash to develop a new plane.
Dave Calhoun is the best CEO Airbus ever had
It’s a pointer for the whole US economy.
It would be more realistic / quicker & cost-effective and sensible for boeing to bite bullet and make a 797 version out of the already proven Dream liner blue print,
just sensibly modifying the smallest member of the Dreamliner into a realistic middle of the market option rather the go headlong into an extreamly costly time consuming clean sheet design that would really would take years apon years to develop & and certify....
Boeing's big hope is its Dreamliner model, they could realistically modify it into soo many amazing varients & Configurations!! Their other hope too is their 777 offerings..
The SONIC CRUISER!!!!!!
Even AKASA of India would by this aircraft
I love me a good two-eye-sell airplane.
Would 797 have the Truss wing that NASA is experimenting with that has the low trusses? This could be a fresh start for them.
They don't need the Truss. They need to regain the Trust! They don't have the means to develop the new plane, they neither have the engineers, nor the money to do so.
Boeing doesn't have the finances... Only focus is the market share dividends to stock holders
And where are they going to put the fuel? The thin wings can't hold it, so that means putting it in the fuselage. That means that the wing structure has to be stronger because of the bending moment from all that extra weight in the body. Fuel in the wings is carried where the lift is generated.
Fake. 737 Max 8 was at issue and the Max 9 with the door plug is the other. The 737-8 has been fixed.
The door plug is not due to the design of the 737 Max, it is due to production speed-ups. You can only work so fast. This faster faster faster mindset needs to go away.
OK ...the A321 XLRs are much HEAVIER SET than the MAXs'. Because it will take 10-15 Billion for a new complete designed aircraft by BOEING, I say the MAX 10 be added with EXTRA FUEL TANKS to at least break into the 8,000 KM RANGE. This way, because it's much lighter than the A321XLR, will ensure it becomes more Fuel Proficient & Efficient than the European Aircraft & could STIR UP A STORM in the 188-220 market bracket. The MAXs will become GOOD & PROFICIENT aircrafts through these stringent SCRUTINY in Avionics, Engineering Designs & Production Issues. So, all it takes is for the MAX 10 to hit 8K Kiliometers & WALLA ...A321s have a proficient competition on hand !
Yeah, yeah. The last hope. Then, Airbus strikes back. Later, the return of the 757.
Boeing will be just fine
Yep no matter what the taxpayers will bail them out of and the CEO’s will continue to get their mega salaries at everyone else’s expense.
A new plane will not save them.... as of yesterday I...( an AMERICAN )...... will boycott them...until the horrible management is GONE!!!!!!!!
Not going to happen.
Boeing is falling and fast. It is on its last leg.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just concerntrate on the B777-300ER and 787. Bring Back the Original Ever Successful B737.......We enjoy flying the B777.
For Shorter Long Haul Routes, use the B777-200 ER
Boeing leader in design and new innovation
since when
The Dreamliner is modern and ahead of A330, but since then not much happened.
@@steelbiker70 The A330 was developed in 1987-1992. The A350 is more of a peer for the 787. For some routes the 787 is more economical, but the A350 is trustworthy on longer routes and is somewhat larger. The A350 has also never been grounded, unlike the 787. They've also never had to stop production, unlike the 787. So what do you mean by better exactly? The last time Boeing did a good job of aircraft development was the 777, which was in development at the same time as the A330 and came out just a couple of years later.
YAAAWWWNNN.!!
