It no longer matters what is on the headstock and on the price tag. It just has to sound good. And this guitar sounds good. But the most important thing is the player who plays it. The audience doesn't hear the difference anyway. Don't always look at the logo. The music should still be in the foreground. Great video!
omg thank you for this video... I'm thinking this is going to be my first guitar and my heart is falling in love with it!!! So excited to test it in person
You always do a great review Rich Bischoff, You made that guitar sound amazing, of course that comes with many years of playing and practicing. But also you have developed yourself and are a great guitar player, very melodic in general while improvising on your own and able to create some real cool loops. That is my goal, to try to achieve myself to your level of playing. My younger brother was very much like you in the style of music that you play, well he played at the Pro level on the road here in Canada for 23 years travelling around our country, I do not know if he ever played in the USA or not. But during his years of playing on the road, he did back up a few Canadian Bands like Street Heart and BTO [ Backman Turner Overdrive and a few others, but he never made it big in the music industry during his Career from the late 70's to the earl 2000's. But he does remind me of you a lot regard your style and level of playing guitar, he always improvised a lot creating his own solos that always sounded very good. Well enough talking about him, sorry about that. Great Review and Playing Improvising like you always do. Cheers and Rock ON! Robert from Alberta, Canada!
Brilliant... I am lucky to own top of the range Gibson, Fender and Gretch Guitars.. When I purchased them many years ago, there was a huge difference in quality. You demonstrate, this is no longer the case....that epiphone sounded fantastic..there is today so much choice.. Love your work..
There’s a difference in quality for certain. But that being said I play my SG Muse as much as my Gibson’s and Godin. And the Epi’s quality is just fine with nothing really to swap out or upgrade. Best SG before a Gibson because it’s got a mahogany neck and body and no veneers. And less than half the price!
If Epiphone Inc. has brains they'll hire Rich to demo their guitars. (Ok, he's no slinky young lass with long silky platinum hair, but we're here for the demo...). This is the only video which went beyond mere noise and shredding. Really highlights the SG's capabilities.
This is another one of those where the guitar is not really my thing, although it sounds great. But once again, Rich makes that thing sound like a $20,000 instrument! Great playing Rich -- as always. You are speaking from the heart with that thing.
Excellent playing as always Rich! That guitar looks and sounds amazing! Very impressive for this Epiphone and its price/cost. Looks like one worth getting.
Another great review, and excellent playing. Only one, ok two problems. One, I now have GAS for that SG , and two the OCD sounds killer - must not buy. Take care, and keep making the excellent videos.
Great job man.. I have this guitar on order. Just one thing, and I find a lot of demo guys forget this, what amp and or pedal settings are we using here...
Great playing demo.... so between this and the Gibson SG Special, what is the difference playability wise? I mean as good as you make that Epi sound, the Gibson pickups are better than the Epi, but play wise are they close? Do you feel one seems to play faster than the other?
But for the reality that I’ve already got too many solid body electric guitars, combined with being driven slightly crazy by Gibson vs. Epiphone (now that I’ve got one of each), this is one of the guitars you could so easily sell me, Rich.
I always say the SG looks like squidward, and when I saw this in the shop I was like “THERE IT IS, THE SQUIDWARD SG”. I would’ve bought it if it weren’t for the neckdive. But yeah, the SG looks like squidward to me, and now you won’t be able to Unsee it
I love how it sounds but Epiphone’s horrible and wildly inconsistent quality control scares me. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes they are fantastic instruments but too many times they have fatal flaws

Thanks for the lead idea at 1:30. I might have to buy one now.

That sounds so good Rich. The guitar and sound deserve to be far more expensive. Gladly they are not.
True, these are just great guitars. The color really isn't my thing but I really liked the guitar.
I hsve the smoked almond lp muse it is Awesome. Great playing and review keep up the excellent work.
Rich, damn! Awesome!!! Oh, nice guitar too!

Thanks Jonathan!
Epiphones 2020 range has some wonderful new colours and finishes, better than Gibsons IMO!
..."Inspired" playing,as always,my Brother!!!...Great-sounding Axe & "I" love the color!!!...Peace...
Thanks Randy!
Beautiful guitar
That is what I think of when I'm thinking "Damn, he can make that guitar talk!"
I would like to get the smoked almond sg and the lp for a matching set. Your playing is great as well.
Thanks, I almost reviewed the smoked almond.
Great guitar and marvelous playing !!

Will you be able to do the Gibson inspired epiphone firebird? And would you recommend it as a beginner electric guitar?
brother.. I just dig ur approach n improvisation..sweet style
cool guitar
Thanks!
Great job man.. I have this guitar on order. Just one thing, and I find a lot of demo guys forget this, what amp and or pedal settings are we using here...
Vox amp with a fulltone OCD pedal, some delay and verb.

The action might be a little better on the Gibson, but you could set the Epiphone up pretty close. Playability wise not much difference really.
For the money that guitar is absolutely fricking amazing and it looks like its got locking tuners!
But for the reality that I’ve already got too many solid body electric guitars, combined with being driven slightly crazy by Gibson vs. Epiphone (now that I’ve got one of each), this is one of the guitars you could so easily sell me, Rich.
I had one of these in red. Neck dive was horrible. I replaced with Harley Benton CST24T
That's an easy solve, just move the placement of the strap button so its higher on the body.
Can you get one in a different color?
Yes
You still have that?
Are those pickups good for lower tuning ?
Sounds awesome, Rich! Are you still based out of Utah?
Thanks. Yes still in Utah.
I always say the SG looks like squidward, and when I saw this in the shop I was like “THERE IT IS, THE SQUIDWARD SG”.
