I’ve owned a Harley Benton SC550II for several years, SS Frets, weight relieved, installed PAF p/u’s, vintage wiring. Great guitar! At a fraction of the cost of an Epi or Gibson. It works!
It seems LP players do have choices available! For me, feel is so important- neck profile and weight. The electronics can be dealt with later, but the core is feel. Nice job Rich
I bought a cira Les Paul style guitar with Maxon humbuckers in it by factory. Sun burst ,triple bindings everywhere, gold hardware. Sounds, plays and looks like a million $ guitar to me.
The Epi modern sounds really good as did the rest but I was impressed by the Epi modern. Ive been a sunscriber for many years and its nice to see you still have your Mono Price LP!
A very incomplete way to judge a guitar. Heavy overdrive tends to make most humbucker loaded guitars sound very similar. Try the same sound at volume through a real amp and the differences appear.
Hate to say it, but the cheap guitars sounded great, even the Monoprice. Just proves that talent and a decent amp go a lot further than a big spend on the guitar. I have lots of expensive guitars and usually still sound like shit. Hats off to you Brother, playing was great. Dig letting the hair grow too. It suits you well.
I play three Les Pauls, including the Murphy Lab. If I were to buy a $1000 Les Paul model, it's definitely Tokai's current model, MIJ. I live in Tokyo. The Les Paul Studio is $2000.

I listened to this through my Tannoy Lancaster golds and there is a slight difference in the clarity of the pickups starting with the Epiphone 59. After that the difference is negligible. The custom shop sounds no better to my ears than the 59 Epi. Harley Benton is still the best value stock!
Well after 2 listen throughs, I like the sound of the Epiphone Modern the best. Of coarse can't speak to the playability or tuning aspects of any of them. Thanks for the demo.
So the Gibson 1959 Les Paul costs over 30 times more than the Harley Benton. Sorry Gibson It DOES NOT sound 30 or even 3 time better, Paying for the name on the headstock and possibly as an investment. Same goes for ALL "Name" guitars. If I bought a guitar for thousands of dollars I'd be worried all the time about snapping the neck etc, No thanks $750 tops for me.
Nice video and great playing. But sorry to see always the Gibson vs. Epi comparison. Missing for example guitarbrands that are underrated like the Hagstrom Swede or Super swede.
They sounded more the same than different. The real Gibson was notably fatter sounding. It stood out because of that. I would be very surprised if you did not get the same sound from an off the shelf Gibson LP Std 50's model if it had the same PU's. I know from talking to the guys old guys at NAMM in the early 80's that were part of 50's R&D there is only 1 chance in 40 that any guitar is exceptional sounding. Even the custom shop has no magic formula for picking out an exceptional guitar. The worst playing ugliest LP could be that 1 in 40. The custom shop can nail the fit and finish all the cosmetics but no more.
I was disappointed with the fact that you did a different track for the Gibson. the Video was good with the PM the Harley Benton and the Epiphones but the changing tracks for the Gibson showed me absolutely nothing.
I actually did do a video with the Gibson with that track but lost audio when editing. I was disappointed also, but I guarantee you, the difference was not much. But yeah.
Funny but the 99$ monoprice, didn't sound that much different from the rest ,might of even had a little more focused mid-range, what I'm more curious about is how the necks feel compared to the Gibson, I recently started getting chibsons because they feel the closest to the real deal in my hands, I've tried a lot of budget guitars, and the chibsons are the only guitars, that feel like your playing a higher end guitar, quality wise ,they blow other budget guitars away, Gibson makes their own fakes(slash LP) so that was my green light to start adding them to my arsenal, let's face it, that's the only reason we buy all these guitars is because we long for Gibson LPs, can't afford one,test drive a chibson, they are like my stunt double right.🤣👍
Kinda pointless when you have a tone of effects and a full mix. Literally can’t tell anything about any of them. Realistically we can make a broom with a pickup and a couple strings on it sound great in a mix.

Hi Rich. I think if I was in a studio and the only guitar that had all it's strings was the Monoprice I would happily use that and EQ it to suit.

Yes Friedman amp model in the Fractal FM3. Same settings.

Present Gibson, basically bought the name. They’re not the Original Gibson.
