It's kinda hard for him to get into the candidates this time, as his only remaining hope is the Grand Swiss, where it will be very difficult for him to reach the final as it is a Swiss tournament. He will have to face top players almost every round unlike here where he was really the underdog only against Nepo. Against everyone else he was a slight favourite on paper.

This is the World Cup, nobody here is some woodpusher that just likes to shuffle pieces on the board. And playing in his own backyard is an advantage as it probably keeping his spirits high to represent his country

Don't underestimate the requirements of playing at this level. An absolutely insignificant inaccuracy at my level is the end of the world for players at this level. It just doesn't take much for them to give the game away if the opponent plays accurately enough to take advantage of a small mistake. All of these guys in this are really really strong. I think all too often people look at these players and think, well this guy is just 2650, he's not all that strong. Just trust me, that's a really strong chess player and they're pretty good. Do not fall asleep on Lower rated players. They do know Bishops move on diagonals and Rooks go straight.

I really don't understand all of the hate for the London system. I even have your Chessable course on the anti London system. I have never played the London in my life, but it's just another opening and after you get through the theory it's time to play chess. You have to play chess against your opponent, I don't see what the big deal is. Either you are better or you are not. Get through the opening with an even position and give it your best shot. Vidit is still relatively young even if it seems like he's been here forever, I can see him getting into the candidates at some point in the future.
