I don't live in the UK but our online stores default to UK stores. Steam prices are better for my region now and we are getting competitive prices. Region locks are another stupid rabbit hole altogether though. Anyway, with Ubisoft, EA and others, it is still a struggle. We are still being deferred to UK/EU stores and those prices are too much in comparison. 100€ is NOT equal to 100 $.

I don't often comment, but math doesn't sit right. If each person get £44, then that means lawyers get to pocket £40M from the £656M lawsuit, that assuming everyone gets £44, but let say half only gets £22, and it varies for other half up to £44, now lawyers get £194+ Million. So most likely they're hoping to earn upto £200M from lawsuit.
Also, the claims they make doesn't hold well due to the fact games on other stores are still £50/£60 even games that not even on Steam still £50/£60 so figure that out, how is Steam fault of any games pricing being set by publishers? Even if Steam lower sales cut, people still make up BS claims, so really this is clearly an ambulance chaser.

Steam lawsuit is just another copy of the frivolous suit brought on by Wolfire. It's based on the idea that Steam enforces a "most favored nation" clause, which they do not have. It's seems to be a misinterpretation of Steam's restrictions on STEAM KEYS specifically, in which they don't want devs selling Steam keys, which they get for free, for less than they sell on Steam for. They're pretty loose about this restriction though. Ironically, selling Steam keys outside of Steam is exactly how Humble Bundle, which Wolfire started, is even able to exist.

I find it weird that Valve is the one getting sued here, shouldn’t it be the publishers of the games that are getting charged for charging these outlandish prices for stuff that isn’t necessary (I.e the season pass and microtransactions in the new call of duty when you buy the deluxe edition.)

@@geeked5883 No, because Valve are saying to publishers, if you sell on Steam for £x, you can't sell on a rival platform for less than £y , the publishers are prevented by Valve from selling for less than £y on rival platforms, unless they don't want to also sell on Steam.

@@geeked5883 In documents from the firm representing the Wolfire case, Valve was picked because they're big enough to be likely able to afford to settle for a large amount, but not so big that they'll be likely to fight it, in theory at least. The goal isn't to win. It's to extract a large cash settlement out of them.
