I honestly think pteras biggest problem isn't stam. It's night vision. Even with a full stix diet there are some areas that are so dark that you can't actually risk flying. You're just in the void waiting to crash into something. If you're anywhere inland during the night you're effectively geounded Edit: baby pteras should have climbing. They'd be able to play around and have fun while waiting to fly. Also imagine how fun it would be as a herra trying to chase them down. Like a linx chasing a squirrel
Ooh, that climbing idea. Come to think of it if a herrera comes across a ptera nest, then the babies are completely screwed. You can't scatter and hide on a tree branch or rock. But if they got the ability to glide when falling and climb back up then that would give them counterplay and something fun to do.
@@vashbain3136 Excuse you? You think the isle is trying to be in anyway accurate to the real animals? Are you fucking insane or is your only exposure to dinosaurs the Jurassic park movies? No, if they were trying to be accurate pteranodon would burry it's eggs underground and abandon them. Once they hatch the flapplings would be able to fly immediately, not stuck in a stick nest for half an hour. Half the roster as patch work abominations that are almost making fun of the real animals. Herra could not climb like in game, maggi wasn't poisonous or a speedster, Ptera had pycnofibers. Velo, utah, and a bunch of other dinosaurs should have feathers, all theropods should have lips, there spinosaurus is a joke. So yeah, if we have a fun suggestion we should probably mention it.
think this is why another sky predator is needed, pteras have no worries and thats kinda what makes the isle fun. having to be scared about what might kill you
I'd love it if we had something around ptera's size or slightly smaller with super fast stam regen and stam regen on clinging, but would use stam while gliding or lose altitude very fast when gliding. Something that requires more powered flight, but is more agile in forested environments to be a foil to ptera being a long distance glider.
Fun fact. Most pteradons swallow anything that can fit down their throat so something like quezt or hatz would be something like a predator to the pterodactyl
@@jjfajen climbing is such a nice ability with herrera but i still love those type of dinosaurs like the microraptor the ones that would climb and also glide from tree to tree with maybe a type of poison that depletes stam, that would make a perfect opponent to ptera, and eventually when the quetz comes out any type of out in the open flying will be dangerous as I hope the quetz is faster but maybe less agile so you get a sort of cat and mouse situation, not that hunting a ptera would even be worth it for a quetz considering how much stam it might use and not that the isle devs go off realism but recently the azhdarchids were revealed by researchers to be shorter distance fliers especially the hatzegopteryx which was a beefier but slightly shorter quetz that lived in island chains which required short distance island hopping, things like the quetz and hatz could very easily defend themselves against the herrera but their babies would be an easy meal for a herrera especially if it can escape with a body into a thick forest where a quetz or hatz would be insane to actually chase a herrera into
hopefull with the next update they will adjust the stam regen/usage and i think most of the vids are saying it is better and that the ptera's cling will be fixed as you cant use scent when clinging and hope that you can regen stam when clinging because it is mostly pointless unless you have most of your stam and want a certain angle to watch from to swoop down onto someone quietly. Please let ptera be able to climb a little as well
The stam system isn't horrid, but 4 minutes even 3 minutes is MUCH. I think the absolute biggest creatures, like brachi, should be 5 minutes shantung deino and rex 4 stego and allo 3 and just about everything else 1-2:30 mins depending on size. At the current rate it'll be ten minutes for brachi and they'll lose stam while walking
My gripe with ptera's stam is the realistic factor... I know it shouldn't matter in a videogame but putting the Pteranodon's wing build into consideration it was designed to go hours even days on the wing.. and only being about to effectively fly like a few minutes its kind of annoying
I have no issue with perfect diet as a Pteranodon. Spawn water access, fly straight to a turtle to the north (or follow the coast northwest if there isn't one on the main beach), go back to the dam for a quick rest. Then off the the swap for a frog as I only trust hunting frogs there from experience. There are turtle spawns east and west of the beaches either side of the swamp. And sometimes schooling fish are in the smaller ponds of the swamp, sometimes it's hard to see them at night though. Great tip with that slight incline holding W. That's gonna save me a load of stamina
I always go for three hexa as full grown, the 25% Stamreg ist the best u can get if u ask me, growing always two hexas and one lines, 30% grow and 15 reg, u wont need 50% as Ptera, never understand why full grown as any dinos are going for all three diets. Naturally it is something else when ur nesting. if u want them to grow fast the 50% seems nice, but just for the kids. Btw, u can attach to trees via airbreak and right click, eat fish and just spacebar off again without losing to much stam.
One thing they can do for take off stamina drain: take the hit but allow a regen if you don't beat for a few seconds, like that it would make a difeerence between emergency and regular take off.
My game must be bugged. I've been searching for fish for 2 hours now and haven't seen a single one, yet they're everywhere around you. Been surviving on frogs and lucky scavenges..
Just hold w and look up slightly. The shallower the angle of ascent, the more stam efficient it is. Space will make you go straight up and burn a lot of stam, only time it makes sense to use it is when you want to gain altitude while looking down or skimming
Hold w and look up ever so slightly. You'll know you're doing it when you start flapping a bit more frequently than just gliding. Occasionally tapping space can be good for maintaining altitude while skimming for fish but otherwise is worse stam wise.
Have you played after the update? No fish nowhere, its so difficult sometimes to finde food, no crabs no turtels or have they moved somwhere else, because they are not anymore on the little islands.. Fish is sometimes everywhere and than nowhere to finde, its realy become way more difficult, if this is not a bug.. Bevore it was chilling to Play as Ptera but now its realy verry hard to finde enough food sometimes..
AI spawns are wack rn, especially schooling fish. Which is really unfortunate considering ptera can now eat while latched, which is actually a huge buff considering it doesn't cost stamina to latch and unlatch.
I just picked up the isle because it looked cool, it barely functions, what a waste of time and money. 10 years old and in early access still? Yeah this is a scam. It's made in unreal, these assets look reused everywhere and the map has huge cavernous holes that kill players, or waterfalls that kill players with infinite looping holes, network is trash, game doesn't feature any prey to actually play a dinosaur that isn't giant or a crocodile, this is AFTER 10 years, what a steaming pile of shit.
Honestly I think you should do another ptera video with the current evrima version since nightvision is overall better/easier to see, especially with the way you conserve your stam I think ptera if played right might actually be in the perfect spot right now other than stamina regen when sitting. Stam regen when sitting is too slow for such a small creature imo but thats really the only big problem ptera has imo, played it yesterday and recorded some gameplay myself, hoping to have a ptera video out today or tonight hopefully if you wanna check it out maybe lol.
Love the new branch collision for landing on trees. No more trying to land on spyro palm trees and the center trunk of the big trees Sad about the new struggle of speeding into a forest then sounding like im falling down stairs every few seconds
I feel like stamina, hunger, and thirst could use a bit of a rework. Right now, you can sleep (log out) to skip the night and therefore not drain hunger. But logging out shouldn't be part of the gameplay loop, especially with nocturnal opurtunitistic hunters.
With the inclusion of the sky rats and them being on the ptera's diet, i dont see the problem of them "mixpacking" with other carnivores. its not like you can actively help in a fight or care who lives. what you are there for is taking out the sky rats and eating them and maybe getting some organs for a finders fee. Just pray they dont try to eat you
@@DomBogey94 Yeah after having so many bad pteras fly into me while im trying to kill raptors i just started killing pteras too, Only do it in mid air though.

stam doesn't take 5 minutes maybe get your facts in order before saying somthing, also you can glide and enjoy the map. there is no difference flying the map and gliding it. you can enjoy it either way
You can’t say that it’s not as bad as everybody says when you never even tried to hunt the other diet, which is rabbit, troodon goats once you hunt those that you need for your diet then judge a stamp because it is horrible. I think the people starving are lying around trying to find their full diet. They just can’t catch it because they have to sit and wait for stam to regain. It’s hunting and regaining stem is the issue not just soaring around from place to place.
@@pinkish_. hunted goat and hypsi troodon with no stam? Well love to see that. Not everyone is a pro and should not have to be to get diet that’s my opinion. Should be 🤩
Goat is doable, but ptera's awful turn radius makes it more of a hassle than it should be. Hypsi is pretty much impossible if they know you're there. Troodon and beipi are just death incarnate if they manage to land a hit on you. If ptera was more agile and able to move more precisely in the air I think that would solve the issues it has hunting things. A tighter turn radius or even the ability to gain altitude/reverse while airbraking would be a huge improvement.
Not to mention your only flying the river. No ups or down. Fly the map! Explore you have to go up and down hills over mountains. This is not a good show of stam if your just flying flat rivers. Raptors etc. are not punished for walking up hills
Some locations have official names given there are spawns in them. Northeast Plains, Highlands I sector, Water Access and RS I 12 for example are spawn locations so those areas got those names from the spawn screen. Other locations just have community names like biodome, waterfalls, volcano, etc. River delta (also called delta river by many for some reason) is, well, a river delta where the central river meets the sea. It's characterized by tall grass, lots of little distributary channels, and beaches closer to the ocean. River delta also has a migration for a few playables so the general area that that migration encompasses is usually considered to be part of river delta as well.
