Good job mate. I've long been a fan of the UK bushcrafting channels and some of the North American guys. It is good to see the Aussies represented. And it is different. For example I was always fascinated to see the UK blokes' elaborate fire starting methods which while interesting was something we rarely worry about with our tinderbox bushland. So keep it up and I look forward to the channel developing.
Mate! You are a breath of fresh air! I honestly got sick of not finding many quality Aussie vids, consider me subbed, bell on and telling all I know about you!
Yes please! Been watching a lot of bushcraft videos of American and Canadians so it’s a welcome sight to see a fellow Aussie representing! Aus is such a different landscape and the climate is completely different. Thanks Scotty, you’ve inspired me to get out there when it cools down a bit more and the snakes go into hibernation! Onya mate!
Great work, love your vids, you showcase the Aussie bush but also low impact camping and great skills. Nice to see young people still enjoying simple pleasures and nature.
I recently stumbled on your channel. All I can say is that I'm enjoying it very much. Even my wife love it and we've been casting a few videos of yours to the TV instead of watch TV of an evening. I recognise many of the places I've seen in your videos from my young days back in the 1980s and 1990s (yes, I'm that old). The south coast of NSW and the area in behind Ulladulla and Nowra is just beautiful. I have even picked up a few camp cooking ideas however, fire bans in Queensland National Parks makes cooking over a fire difficult. Kudos for your beer selections too. Keep up the great work showing off this beautiful country to the world. Big thumbs up from me. Cheers
been a sub from the start, I too watch a lot of the OS bush crafters and was wanting to see Aussie content, because, like you said, we have such different terrain and materials here.....loving your videos...thanks Scotty, ...it is so good to see the subscribers increasing ..
Have been a long time watcher and fan of the Canadians Joe Robinet, Shawn from My Self Reliance and Dougie from Doug Outside; and a couple of the UK Lads, including Carlisle195 and TA Outdoors, oh and must NOT forget Survival Lily! But I've often wondered why we don't have more Aussie bushcrafters and campers on RUclips. Discovered your channel a few days ago and am slowly working my way through em. Love the content, and the laid back Aussie style (Byron Bay/Brisbane/Gold Coast lad myself ;)) haha. Keep the vids comin bro, lov'n the channel!
Living in the UK and Aus I have been into survival and camping, bushcraft for 35+ years it's great to see you doing it on channel in Aus as you say heaps of UK and American guys. Keep up the good work hope to catch you out bush cheers 🇦🇺🤘
Thanks for taking us with you. I carved myself a nice wooden spatula to stir in the pan to avoid using metal things scratching. I store this spatula in the same Vanquest pouch that I also have. Quite difficult to get here in Germany though.
GREAT Video, this where I want to stay......up the Bush, Ive been camping lately in Gippsland. Beautiful part of the world. Ive been getting my stuff from Survival Supplies Australia, they have a lot of great camping gear, food, accessories. I have spent camping for weeks at a time but I really would love to spend a lot more time in the Aussie bush. Ive been around the world and there is no place like the Aussie bush. Enjoy your videos, great inspiration, thank you
Great solo hike and camp in the bush. A lot different than camping in New Hampshire ! That swim looked refreshing too. Gin and Tonic- THE BEST ! You are the Man ! Best to you Scotty-and I subscribed now !
Completely agree with you mate, youtube has definitely been lacking is aussie bushcraft channels. I'll be sure to subscribe and watch what you do mate, keep it up!
Cheers, should be out today but I will continue to follow your channel, I usually camp with my 4x4 and I pack everything including the kitchen sink, I would like to have a go at minimalist hiking and make use of more bushcraft skills rather than equipment. So thanks for the inspiration
I just found your channel very happy to have different trees to see, i mostly have cactus, i would have to go up into the mountains to see nice trees. Thank you for posting god bless.
You really make very enjoyable videos. Great editing and amazing views. I’ve already watched some of the videos twice just for the stunning scenery. Can’t wait for more
Good to see more and more Aussies bushcraft channels, enjoy most overseas videos but nothing beats it in our own backyard. I'm over WA and unfortunately most of my trips never get filmed due to group numbers or my own inefficiency. Put me down as another subscriber. Awesome vid mate
Hey mate, thanks a lot. Great to see you enjoyed it. Yeah I full understand the dilemma of trying to film your adventures. Especially when other people are camping with you, or just being bothered to put in the effort to film it all. Sometimes it's nice not to worry about it and just enjoy it.
Just found ya mate! I'm a keen bushy from NSW, We need more blokes like you over here as you say, barely anyone does it and we've got so much to share! Keep it up Scotty!
Jake Craft Hey mate, yeah I agree. It’s a big and beautiful country with a lot to offer! Hopefully my vids show a little slice of it to the rest of the world. Thanks for watching mate!
Years ago I learnt to protect trees from rope by putting thumb thickness fallen twigs in between the bark and the rope. It's important to look after what we have. In the old days some trees got so over used they got ring barked. Was really sad. I used to go hiking with my family as a child in a similar area. Hope that fire was outside of fire danger season. I love that you are getting into camping. Sawyer squirt water filters are great, highly recommended. I'd encourage you to carry less if you can. Shelter starts with clothing, loose, shoulder covering natural fibres. Your in the Aussie bush...basically the entire thing is "tinder" ;) Have you thought about volunteering with your local CFS? Great way to meet outdoors folk. Also might find its easier to source good quality second hand camping gear and tools from older folk, looking to mentor.
Greetings from Canada brother. So nice to see an Aussie getting into the game. it's so refreshing to see another type of climate and wilderness. Spiders and snakes? F that, I prefer dealing with bears and wolves. Good on ya, mate. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks a lot mate! Really appreciate it. Haha yeah we're pretty lucky with not having to deal with big predators, it's just the poisonous little buggers that creep up on ya. It just so happens while out hiking yesterday I was about 2 feet away from stepping on a Eastern Brown snake, easily one of the most deadly snakes in the world. Luckily he kept his distance. Thanks for watching mate.
Awsome job man, the Australian bush is one that us Americans can appreciate. Scary as hell in most parts haha. I'm in Texas so I can understand not wanting to sleep out on the ground. Great work and I hope I can share this put and get you some more subs. Goodluck
Haha thanks a lot mate! Always appreciate the feedback. I can imagine the landscape in Texas must be hugely different from ours. Would love to get over there and check it out sometime. Glad I can show you a glimpse into the Aussie landscape.
Great channel. Nature that's totally unknown to me, so it's gratifying to make these videos. Thanks, mate. I am fascinated by plants and other crops.. , could you show/talk about some useful plants and some not so good. - Hope ur keep on channel growing.
I’ve just read every single comment on your channel. The world loves what and how you showing from our beautiful country. I think you are onto something...
Great ideal for a channel. The different environment will be interesting to watch. I'm viewing from Tokyo, so the nature scenes are a welcome reprieve. lol
Oh, a heads up for newbies in the bush. Do NOT camp on or within about 10 feet of a rock outcrop it is the snakes go at night to stay warm and if are silly enough to, you may end up with a bed companion you really don't want. Scotty was in a good position were he camped, the only thing I would pick him for was the shorts but for an Aussie, we tend to pay attention where we put our feet when in the bush. Good job lad keep it up. subbed
Hey Gavin, thanks for the feedback mate. Completely agree about the snakes, though in my area there's not a whole lot of flat ground free from rocks to camp. So far I've been lucky. Definitely not keen to shack up with a brown or red belly haha. As for the shorts, it's just too bloody hot to wear pants this time of year. But I am always very cautious of where I put my feet. Thanks for the sub.
She's cool mate, you have a good eye and the composition of your videos is very good so keep going, it might take some time but I think you could get some were doing this. I was up your neck of woods about 10 years ago, I spent 4 weeks in the mountains on horseback with 3 pack horses, best holiday I've ever had, will have to come back one day.
Great video Scott, thanks for putting in the time. Funny you mention the rain, cause when you set up your hammock, i thought, "why no tarp cover?" :) keep em coming and wishing you the best.
Love roo steak as well👍, best chucked on the coals. If you haven't tried emu steak yet as well highly recommend it, yum👌, dare say even better. Great seeing some Aussie content after a lot of searching, love all the other 'crafters as well but there's nothing quite like seeing someone else start a fire with paperbark as well for a change. Didn't notice the cicadas until I read someone else's comment, ha
Hey mate, glad to hear you're enjoying the vids! Nah I've never tried emu before. I would love to but I wouldn't even know where to buy some from. I'll have to ask around at the local butchers. Thanks mate
Thankyou for the videos. Good to see an australian bushcraft. Im curious how you transported the roo steak in that heat though. What method did you use?
I'm so bloody well stoked upon Scotty and his picture on the world...too right I reckon....one of my four all times ☺️😉🤨🤨🤣🤣😂🍻🍻 And I religious watch all his vids😊😊😊😊❣️🍵🍝🤠🤠🦜🦜🌟👌
Very good mate. I found you by searching "Australian bush survival" cos as you said there's not many Aussies doing bush survival. I loved it mate. You got a new subscriber here. Cheers. Nick from the Murray. 🇦🇺👌👍💚
Hi Scott, Greetings from Scotland, i have just sat and watched all your videos mate, and they are great, its a nice change as you say, from the UK, North American, Bushcraft RUclips perspective. I have never been to Australia, but i am always keen to learn about the fascinating Natural world. I liked watching Ray Mears going walkabout in his program's, also not forgetting old Les Hiddins, another great Bushman! Some of the locations in your videos are stunning, as a keen sea angler myself, some of the areas you are filming are just screaming to be fished,(Yeah, i also used to watched Rex Hunt!). Anyway i digress, so thanks for the videos and keep them coming. Atb. Cheers Stuart. (subbed)
Hey mate, thanks a lot for the feedback. Glad you enjoyed my videos and happy to hear you enjoy checking out the Aussie landscape. Very different to other parts of the world. As for the fishing, I'm not much of a fisherman haha. I try my best but never end up catching too much. Something I plan on getting more into, because like you said, some of the spots I go, it would be great to catch my own dinner. Thanks again mate.
Greetings from Alberta, Canada! Just discovered your channel and subbed right away. Looking forward to new vids cuz your terrain is so different from ours. Keep up the good work!
Mate just stumbled across your channel after having a few cracks at bushcraft/ bush camping last month and following a lot of Americans. I always thought I wonder how they'd handle snakes, spiders and everything else the Aussie bush throws at you. Look forward to watching all your videos... Cheers mate. P.s - try roasting the lemons on the grill and having them with the gin (personal favourite of mine)
Greetings from the NT, never really considered kangaroo even though its readily available. I'm going to look at eating it a bit more. Enjoyed the video, well done.
I enjoyed the video but personally I feel like foraging and fishing your meals is always more rewarding than eating stuff bought from a shop. Personally I'd bring a fishing line or yabby trap and make the experience more complete but on a one day trip most of your time is spent just getting there and setting up so I understand why bringing your food with you is more practical.
Hi how's it going, I just came here from Alexis Outdoors... Nice Channel unbelievable amount of views in 3 weeks good job. What if you are amazing and I just joined your community. Looking forward to your future videos. Keep up the good work looking forward to hearing from you Ken
Thanks for this. Giving me some ideas. I used to camp more and now I want to get back into it. How long did the kangaroo take? Also, do you know some good spots in NSW for beginners?
Good work man, listening to your chat in the hammock I think you do this for the same reasons I do. I appreciate your honesty and editing skills too. That looks like good country down there, NSW? If you think its hot there you should come up to the top end and film in 100% humidity haha. Keep up the good work and most importantly enjoy doing it.
Thanks a lot mate for the feedback. Yeah NSW, just south of Sydney. It sure is some beautiful country. Haha I can't even imagine the humidity in the top end. I don't know how you do it. I'm planning on making a trip out there this year hopefully so I'm sure to find out.
@@ScottysGoneWalkabout I pegged it for NSW too, down here in VIC a hot day is 40's but in that same day it can get down to 12, typical Melbourne weather. Love your video's, keep 'em coming. Really good to see an Aussie get on the tube and post about our country, gives me more understanding what to expect and how to relate with the northern hemisphere videos especially about the hardwoods we have down here and how you have the same trouble finding a straight stick for building shelters.
Nice video...camped all over my favs are still Oz and Norway. The last resorts where you can roam around. Bought a raincoat 25 years ago from Mountain Designs and still goes with me on expeditions etc..And its still going strong. Dont have a profile here but you can look on Fb: kayak Cobber. Just walked up and down to the northCape...almost eleven months and 9000+ Ks but the weather is more Sunny in Australia i can tell you!!!! Used a tarp and bivy all the time..works wonders!
Good to see an Aussie doing it. Exactly as you say there aren't many Aussie channels. I just found your channel.
Thanks a lot mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
I imagine they all got bit by the poisonous wildlife no?
Patrick Bateman actually the bites are quite rare. If someone dies it’s on the news
I found your channel a few days ago and started watching to see more of Australia! Great minds think a like.
you're breaking new ground in more ways than one! Its good to see an australian camping channel.
yeah, talking about his pack for an hour really helps everyone... not

Mate! You are a breath of fresh air!
I honestly got sick of not finding many quality Aussie vids, consider me subbed, bell on and telling all I know about you!
"Bush tele." Easily the best description of a fire I've heard. Its so true to camping lol.

Thanks a lot mate. Just checked out your trip on Facebook. Looks like an epic adventure.
Cool fella. You seem a good geezer too 🖒. I spent some time over there about 26 years ago up North and along the East coast. I've subbed 🖒🔥
Thanks a lot mate. Really appreciate it.
Great video ! Can you link the backpack in the description or send it to me thanks
