- My dad bought this car for $25 when he was 15 years old and kept it ever since. We restored it in the late-90s and she still looks really good. Come along for a drive with me and learn about it's rich family history.

What a wonderful legacy ❤️
Thank you Laura. Much appreciated.
Great story and I’m sure your Dad would be proud that you’ve carried on enjoying the Buick as he did!
^We have a 1927 Buick 27/27 Standard we rescued 4 years ago after the prev owner passed and the car sat in his garage untouched for 30+ years.
We love it.
Thank you! Much appreciated. We had a 27 too. Great car. It needed everything when we got it. We ultimately traded it for an E-Type Jag that helped my Dad retire early. Wish I had them both now. Thanks for the feedback!
@@SmithClassicCars that’s awesome, I am looking for someone to do the interior of our ‘27 as the car is far too nice to have the original worn (not torn) mohair interior. I’d like to have the entire interior done at some point but finding someone who is trustworthy and capable is the hard part!

Top car❤
Thank you Peter! Appreciate ya. Thanks for checking out my videos.
That's a beautiful story and what a magnificent car you have there, gorgeously restored with superb colours. A lucky man to drive this car and think of your dad. A true honor between father and son as it should be. I have a 1954 picture of my dad working on a 1929 Chrysler or Dodge sedan with myself (as a three and a half year old) and my sister sitting on the running board, a picture that I treasure.
Thank you! It's a true honor to be the caretaker and I greatly appreciate your comments.
I love the video dad
Thank you my dear daughter. That makes me feel so proud. Perhaps some day you will take me for a drive...
The Buick was the next step down from the Cadillac as GM introduced the tiered levels of luxury and options directed at producing an automobile offering for every budget. Though I absolutely love the Cadillac, the Buick is on my bucket list, mostly because of the fender mounted spare tire. It has that Duesenberg look to it. Absolutely lovely car. I currently have the Bonnie and Clyde 34 Ford Sedan updated and modified to modern standards but not over done with power assist everything. I have a modern drive train and disc brakes, but still crank the windows up and wrestle the steering wheel. I drive it everywhere. Thanks for sharing your life with us Mr. Smith,
So very much appreciated. Your '34 Ford sounds great. Enjoy it! And thank you so much for your comments and for visiting my channel.
Beautiful three-color paint job on a classic elegant car.
Thanks Gabe! Much appreciated.
James do you remember the lady who lived next door ,I'll call her T .I met you guys when I was hanging out at her house .I used to help Joe ,and your dad with all kinds of stuff in the back yard .Chris ring a bell .James I found this in amazement ,and I was not looking for your dad's Buick But when I did a search to show a friend what a 31 Buick is .I saw your video .Man I cried at the end I used to visit your dad and hang with him .Funny the TAKA bottle I used to go get that for him sometimes .Man I wish I knew he passed sooner .I have my own lathe cause you ike man taught me how to use one .....Wonderful legacy you've built . Your dad was a hell of a man ,his story's ,his presence I'm saddened that I had to wait until now to find he passed I won't lie I cried cause his impact in life was enormous .Nice collection ,I'm pleased to know that Buick is in the family still You dad took me out a few times in that car .Rides and time I'll never forget .
Chris, Thanks for taking the time to write. I really appreciate you sharing your stories and the kind words about my dad. Thanks!
WOW! AMAZING STORY ; AMAZING VEHICLE ; I COULD NOT HAVE DONE THAT !!!
Thank you! I really appreciate it.
Great cars, I myself own a 1931 90 Series.
Nice! Is it a sedan or....?
@@SmithClassicCars yes, it's a sedan, 132" wheel base.
This is my dream car I love it
Thank you very much. Appreciate ya!
Dad had a good eye for the future
For sure and he knew what he liked. Grandpa told him he'd do better with a Chevy 6 or a Ford, but he liked the Buick. It's been a great car. Thanks for reaching out.
BEAUTIFUL !
Thank you so much. It's a very special one to me.
The blue on the lower body and hood, is that called Everglades Blue? A Buick color I believe was available in 1931?
It's Boatswain Blue. The car was originally black, with Oxblood reveals and red pinstriping, but my dad saw this on a bigger series roadster and really liked it. It changes depending on the lighting and my dad thought the black a tad boring.
@@SmithClassicCars I'm usually cynical of many restorations I see, things non-original stick out like a sore thumb, but my hat off to you and your father, the Buick looks wonderful, a very, very nicely done restoration. Your video a pleasure to see.
@@captnemo8069 Thank you!
I have a photo of my dads good friend and coworker at the Oregon coast with that very vehicles. It was regestered first in my dads name and then when he was deployed in the Navy in 1942, it was registered in my mothers name ( V. McFadden) I wonder what happened to it?. They were Portlanders, and when it went out of the family I can only guess.
Thanks for reaching out. The car was originally black and my Dad picked it up in Van Nuys in '55. The registered owner at the time was Carl Hanson.
Hi, Beautiful car. How much bigger is this car than a ford model A of same year? Like height, width and length. I know it's about 1000lbs heavier. Thank you
Thank you! A Model A sedan has about a 15" smaller wheelbase, height and front and rear track are about the same. The Buick feels a lot bigger though, is more refined and certainly cost more new.
A lovely car.
Thank you John! Appreciate ya!
