- A build of this lovely kit, (with awful instructions), from Takom. In part one we look at the Red Fox studios cockpit and then build and paint the rotor head assembly. If you would like to contribute to the channel.. please look here.. / nigelsmodellingbench
I love your honesty regarding the instructions. If it is correct and the assembly works, you informed us otherwise you tell us how it does work. Nigel great work
This is coming in very handy.started this build yesterday. I also bought caracal decals for it.watched every video you did . Before I started. Thank you!
Glad to help
I can't deny I've been looking forward to this.
If you have the kit, the video will be invaluable....
@@NigelsModellingBench Unfortunatly I live in a "pensioner pad" lol my next downgrade will be a pine box :) I don't have space for anything so big, lovin the CH 54 too btw. I dig watching yours come together and soak up your technique.
II have an Airfix Westland Scout vintage job, like me that I have been fettling for a while.
Thanks for the videos, muchly appreciated.
Nigel: "this will be a quick video."
Also Nigel: posts a 1h video
Just kidding XD, I love longer format videos, anyway, looking forward to this, I've got both the kit and the Red Fox set and very interested on how to use it properly.
I know I’m late to the party here. Watching parts one and two and I’ve already fft it up on my current build. I’m really hoping that swiveling bit on top of the rotor won’t matter down the track 😳because it’s glued rock solid. Building it only because Australia has the 64E on order with expected delivery 2025 (no decals to be applied until I see pics). You’re right, the instructions are atrocious 🙄. No more building until I watch all your Apache build, cause if anyone can figure it out it’s you 👍🏻.
Beware the kit decals, they are BAD!!! Also note the "Do not Grab" or "Grab here" decals are on the sheet but not in the instructions.
@@NigelsModellingBench Thanks mate will take note. Wish me luck.
just a quick suggestion for using the instructions "Use the Force Nigel, Use the Force" another great looking build
Nigel I feel your pain! I’m glad you made this video, at least I don’t feel so stupid being so confused by these instructions!
Great start Nige, coming together nicely despite the instructions
Thanks Phillip. It's a pretty nice kit hampered by terrible instructions and mold seam lines.
Dear Nigel,
I may very well go for the other manufacturer for the Apache you mentioned. The reason is that I can say I’ve done it “Kangnam style.”
(- gets coat and leaves quietly)…
Regards,
Z
following closely, thank you very much!
Hi Nigel, this going to be a great series worth watching, good luck with the build, I will not be getting this kit as I lack to display space, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia 👍👍👍👍
Hi Nigel I have this kit and am looking forward to this build , having built the Kitty Hawk MH 60 Seahawk this looks like a walk in the park the instructions were awful in fact it seems like the same person drew both sets of instructions, anyway enjoy the build.
I have the MH-60 and SH-60.. lovely kits.. but my oh my.. Kittyhawk instructions....
Been looking forward to this
Hi nige
The piece you mentioned that fits in the frame near the exhaust has another piece to fit later in the instructions . Also the rods on page 25 you mentioned don’t need to be fitted until the whole assembly is complete as they will just click in place
Nigel, You read my mind - I was about to ask if you had a video about dry-brushing. I've been hoping to see you show how you do this technique. Thanks.
Nice kit Nigel
It is a nice kit Colin, but the instructions and decals are dire!!
@@NigelsModellingBench Im tempeted to get on tbh, cheers for the heads up.
I would be tempted to wait for the Meng release?
@@NigelsModellingBench sound advice buddy, thank you.
Hello Nige. hope youre good, I'm building that T90/ Gaz 223014 Tiger in 1/48 you reviewed. I can attest its a real peach so far
Im so upset that they dont have instructions for the seatbelts included. They also missed a lot of the decal locations for the cockpit as well
Yeah, no decals for the fire extinguishers either!! For £150 retail, it's a bit poor.
Looking good Nigel. But, oh boy, those instructions are dire lol. Makes me think that I am glad that I couldn't afford to buy this kit.
What clear cote varnish would you use on enamel paints and lacquer paints
Quick question: 17:50 - part F42....in the instructions, it shows its a hydraulic strut. The actual part on the sprue looks like an A-frame. Is that an error in the instructions?
Well, the instructions in this area are awful, which is why I did this detailed view of it all going together. F42 is the A frame you see me fit at the front of the assembly @17.46
@@NigelsModellingBench yeah that whole thing has me scratching my head, thanks for the assist!
The instructions are awful, but nothing like as bad as the decals. Any more questions, ask away. I have tried to cover all the issues in my videos.
@@NigelsModellingBench got another one for you: 26:27 I am assuming this is the APU exhaust plumbing; instructions only mention the right side but theres also the left side that needs to be installed as well. Am I to assume you werent able to find anything regarding the left side? I cant find anything for that piece in the instructions or in the sprue.
Check out MRP 191 US non- Chromate epoxy primer.
Will do.
🖐️👍👍
Can you recommend a good gloss coat ? I used to use Alclad Aqua gloss but it's impossible to get now
I know, I just got four bottles from Hiroboy!! Not sure of an alternative... Tamiya X22 is very good, LP9 is also good but is very hot.
...этот апач сравним с музейным экспонатом,макетом-копией.....
I don’t think you were really sat there on Saturday 29th of may 2023 were you Nigel, not unless you’ve time travelled 😂😂
I have a Tardis Steven... and a time machine.
The 29th of may 😂 are you using a Time Machine
Losing my mind Harry lol.
