My interpretation of a minimalist interior besides clean lines, form following function etc etc is to have just enough decor to keep it from looking empty and sterile. Well designed minimalist interiors never look “empty” and lacking in visual interest. I would say it’s harder to pull off a successful minimalist design without looking sterile than a tastefully designed interior that’s pleasingly curated.
The only thing I don’t quite agree with is having a rug. IMHO … in most cases… having a rug is a definite plus. It grounds what ever furniture it’s under. Without it …furniture “floating” all over the place may be visually noisy. Well unless one is a true minimalist at heart and live the lifestyle…then perhaps an empty room with a table and chair would make more sense.

A minimalist living room does NOT need: 1. multiple blankets, 2. multiple throw pillows, 3. rugs, 4. too much art, 5. wallpaper.
