Van sings about love. But love to him is something deeper than most singers express. He has a beautiful soul. He doesn't need to impress anyone with his talent or be like anyone else. His music makes the world a better place.
Van Morrison's "Crazy Love" is another of those beloved Van songs, with a sweet, soothing melody and heartfelt lyrics. Van has a way with lyrics, and his vocal talent is impressive. Thanks for playing more, Van Morrison. Great reaction, especially giving a shout-out to the backup singers. Thanks for all the diverse and wonderful music, guys; it's greatly appreciated.
Great reaction and commentary! Van Morrison is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of the last century. He has many songs that have been covered by other artists.
Brothers, they don't call him Van the man for nothing. He's the most soulful Irishman on the planet. You can hear the R&B, soul and gospel in many of his songs. He also throws in big horn sounds like James Brown.. You can't go wrong with Van Morrison. He's got a boat load of hits. If you want to hear a real upbeat track with big horns sound check out "Domino" it won't disappoint you!! Great selection, you guys are starting the day out with a few long home runs.
You gents are a gem on reactions, we all see your appreciation for music. Van is the man and I know that you might have reacted to a couple of songs from his Astral Weeks album but I recommend a full album through listen on that one.
The vocal lineage of that family is incredible: Cissy, Whitney, Cissy's cousin Leontyne Price (one of opera's greatest sopranos), and her nieces Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick.
Not a bad way to start a Friday…easing into it with the smooth sounds of Van Morrison. The man always knows how to set the mood and tone for his songs. His music always makes you feel better and eases your mind. Thanks La & Che.😊
This one and Tupelo Honey: what I always dreamed of having in a relationship....told my husband when we first got married, 25 years ago: this is the way I wish someone would think of me - and, HE DID....until I lost him December of last year. THANKS for bringing back the warm feelings, Guys!!! SUCH A GREAT TUNE!! Great Reaction!! HUGS, YA'LL!!
Sorry for the loss of your husband. I'm glad this song warmed your heart today. Happy that you had someone that treasured you for being sweet as tupelo honey
Van is a special soul, he aways heightens the emotion i feel when listen to his songs. The man is a true gentlemen and break him out when trying to get lucky. Thanks guys
How does an Irishman sound so soulful. Whitney's mum Emily is one of the backup singers on this record. Also Judy Clay and Jackie Verdell. Stellar job by those three ladies.
Van has a very deep catalog of music. Early rock innovator with the group Them. Many know his dozen or so popular songs, but his deep tracks are virtually all top notch!
A great start to the weekend. You are Che! Van has extensive catalog that is worth downloading. As always fellas thanks for an excellent reaction! Can not wait for more. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Hey La & Che, here's another artist that I think you might like checking out some of his solo work, if interested. This is John Fogerty the lead singer for "CCR" "John Fogerty - The Old Man Down The Road" (channel: John Fogerty) --This song was released in 1984 as the lead single from Fogerty's comeback album called "Centerfold." It became Fogerty's only Top 10 hit single as a solo artist, peaking at no. #10 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and spent 3 weeks in the no.# 1 spot. In otherwards gents a Banger. "Van the Man" did it again...man I love his vocals, simply beautiful stuff, bro.
This is from "Moondance", Van's follow-up to his first album "Astral Weeks" (discounting, as Van does, "Blowin' Your Mind!" on the Bang label). You could start with "Astral Weeks", then "Moondance", "His Band and the Street Choir", "Tupelo Honey", "Saint Dominic's Preview", etc. Don't skip his 1974 live album "It's Too Late to Stop Now" (the title being the last line from his song "Into the Mystic") which captured performances of his tour with the Caledonia Soul Orchestra. Go for the original release not the additional performances from the 2016 box set - there are some great performances on the box set, but the cuts on the original release were chosen for a reason.
A group I don't think you've hit yet but in my eyes shares a vibe with Van Morrison is Counting Crows. Just like Van, I've never heard Adam Duritz, lead singer for Counting Crows, do a song live the same way twice. "Mr. Jones" was their smash through hit and is a great song, but for the first dip I think "Round Here" is sure to make you come back for more. (Side note: in 2022 I had the great fortune of seeing Counting Crows and Van Morrison back-to-back nights at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis. That year also included Sarah McLachlan, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Death Cab for Cutie, Soul Asylum, Stone Temple Pilots, Indigo Girls, and Third Eye Blind, so it was definitely one of the best festivals I've been to)
I had the pleasure of seeing Van 3 times back in the early 70's. Van writes wonderful songs, but as a performer he is, and still to this day, an argumentative, surly, disagreeable person. Both onstage and, as reports say, off stage as well. Try him doing "Gypsy Queen", another soulful tune.
You're so right about the amazing voice Van Morrison has. But, for me, his 1st genius is songwriting. Van has released by my guesstimate about an album a year for the past 50+ years, and he does few covers. On the other hand, when he does cover someone else's music, he really does it right. If you want to get review a cover he does, check out "That's Life". I don't know who wrote it, but Frank Sinatra (going back yet another generation or two!) I really think you'd like it.
I can’t think of a VM popular song I don’t like. I need to go back to the B. McNight version just to compare. Most reactors are just useless head bobbers followed by inane comments. You guys are the BEST reactors on You Tube hands down! Cheers!
If you listen to his original band, Them, you will hear a much different voice than that on Moondance. Songs include "Baby Please Don't Go', "Gloria", "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue", etc.
Lovely stuff. Please please please check out one of his lengthier epics, 'Summertime in England' 'You Don't Pull No Punches and You Don't Push the River', 'Listen to the Lion'' or 'Independence Day'. For one of his wildest vocal performances you can't beat 'Cul De Sac'. If you ever do a whole album, 'Veedon Fleece' is the one that works best all the way through, in my admittedly not that humble opinion.
This is one of the few albums that should be listened to all the way through. Billy Joel's "The Stranger" is another Oh, and it goes without saying "let me rock your gypsy soul"
This album is one of my island records for SURE. Growing up listening to nothing but heavy stuff, now I'm my old age, (55)) I don't think there's any heavy records I'd take on an island. LOL. I'm still into it but there are so many other interesting flavor
Awesome work!More van indeed! Everyone has covered van tho guys ,.but know one can do his songs better .he is the generational talent ❤amazing top level musician of the highest order.40 plus albums ,I wonder how many songs most people could name of his off tops?btw …into the mystic is metaphorical, the soul and spirit are gypsies forever wandering this ol universe, not a boat 🛥 you will notice his spirituality as you go ,pretty much all his work is philosophical/spiritual/soul/funk.✌️
Van Morrison wrote a LOT of great music. In almost all of it, you hear the jazz influence. Check these out: "Cyprus Avenue" (ruclips.net/video/L8jPDdHd9y8/видео.html) from the "Astral Weeks" album--a classic. "And It Stoned Me" (ruclips.net/video/AYqJtqyeilE/видео.html) The "Jelly Roll" he refers to here is Jelly Roll Morton, a famous jazz musician. "Moonshine Whiskey" (ruclips.net/video/PpviWSapCmo/видео.html) from the "Tupelo Honey" album "Astral Weeks" (ruclips.net/video/4ech6pZoBJ4/видео.html) the title song from the "Astral Weeks" album
Only the top musicians in the world got the privelage to play with Jeff Beck. Check out some live songs with the girl Tal Wakenfield on Bass, sh is amazing!!!
With over 45 albums released in his career, how do you pick a song ? This is a great tune from his brilliant third album released in 1970. Don't know if you guys do requests ? but please scroll forward a few years to 1973 and check out the title track from his album " Hard Nose the Highway" . It's Van belting out some jazz inspired bluesy number , I think that's where his soul resides. Guarantee you wont be disappointed
@@AirplayBeats Thanks for the response guys, love and respect from here in London p.s. pump up the volume on this one, can't get enough of the keyboards and horn section !
La and Chi (hope it’s the right spelling) Happy Holidays to the both of you……..I sure would like to do some music with you two at some point…..I can already tell you’re great musicians, check out FOMO House of Love ( video available on RUclips as well as 30 something remixes. The song which I wrote features me, Chaka and bass playing brother Mark together. Fun song, beautiful reunion of the 3 of us❤❤❤❤ Have a good one,😍😍😍😍😍
thanks guys, I appreciate you. I sent you an email about a possible reaction that is out of the box for you, hence the email. I would love to get your feedback on the band but only if you are interested.
Channeling a gospel vibe with this. Yes, great producing, Van also produces his albums. Try much later Van with something off the Too Long In Exile album.... way more edgy.
One of the greatest songs of all time
I love how respectful you guys are for the music.
Van sings about love. But love to him is something deeper than most singers express. He has a beautiful soul. He doesn't need to impress anyone with his talent or be like anyone else. His music makes the world a better place.
Beautiful soul lol
Exactly you nailed Van! His voice is so expressive and emotive.
Melts me. This is what a true love song sounds like. Best era for music was the 60's and 70's. Nothing like it.
LOVE this man's voice, he has decades of great music.
Cissy Houston on backing vocals. Fitting for such a gorgeous blue-eyed soul song. The Moondance album is a 10/10.
CISSY could SURE SING!! SO GOOD!!! I agree: 10/10!!
Thx 😊
Irish soul🍀❤️

When I was a kid, he released "Domino". Song drove me crazy and still love it today.
Soulful and just easy to the ear!!!! Van the man🔥🔥🔥
Great reaction and commentary! Van Morrison is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of the last century. He has many songs that have been covered by other artists.

This song was in the movie Phenomenon. Played during a sensual haircut by Kyra Sedgewick of John Travolta. Good movie. Great song.

I can't believe you are doing Van Morrison! He's phenomenal and has a huge catalog of music to explore. ❤️
"When those dots connect...it's something else"...GREAT Comment!
One of the three female backup singers was Whitney Houston's mom, Cissy Houston.
The vocal lineage of that family is incredible: Cissy, Whitney, Cissy's cousin Leontyne Price (one of opera's greatest sopranos), and her nieces Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick.
You are so right. I met Dionne some 30-odd years ago. A sweetheart if there ever was one.@@randomtruths3400

Vans a freak can do anything sing or play any instrument
Such a beautiful song ❤ Thanks, guys.
My wife walked down the aisle to marry me as this song was playing. Absolutely beautiful song.
He's smooth as Tupelo honey!
Van Morrison recorded a live version of this with Ray Charles when he was inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
His singing puts a smile on my face, and joy in my heart.
I've said this elsewhere, but this album is a supremely self-confident work of art.
One of my all time favorite live performance
Tom Jones, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Long Time Gone. Just out of body greatness...
Je is in my top 5 song writers the man is an absolute legend 😮
Such a sweet song❤❤❤❤

This is an album you should just power through, like you did with The Dan.
One of the great duets ever is Van and Ray Charles doing this song together.
Van has a very deep catalog of music. Early rock innovator with the group Them. Many know his dozen or so popular songs, but his deep tracks are virtually all top notch!
I love it when you guys call out the covers and samples for some reason.
Another Van Morrison classic. For one of his songs that rocks out a little more, try Wavelength. Great pick me up and driving song.
Ahhh Mr Morrison!!! Yes!!!
Van the Man!
Yeah, this is the good ish. Thanks guys.
This is the album you put on to get your woman in the mood.
A great start to the weekend. You are Che! Van has extensive catalog that is worth downloading. As always fellas thanks for an excellent reaction! Can not wait for more. Appreciate you 🙏 ❤
Van is the real deal. 🙂
I actually didn't know Van wrote this song but I'm not surprised.
That's a bad man 2:33yeah that caravan is on it's way
Beautiful.
Van could sing the phonebook and make it sound good.
This whole album is essential listening.

Favorite from Van the Man, Wild Night!
I'm not a big fan of covers, but Brian McKnight did justice to this song. Good catch!

This album is like an old friend. With my core group of friends this whole album would be played at almost every gathering.
Van sings with truth. One of the greats. Rita Coolidge does a great version of this song too. Van''s a world treasure.
My lad (27) went to see Van M in concert last week. He has (not my son) a covers LP he's promoting. Still has a great voice (not my son) apparently.
I do listen to him on my boat. Capt.Bob
❤❤❤❤
Anything from Moondance is ❤
i was hoping you knew the Brian McKnight version.... amazing how many songs we grew up with not knowing they were covers
Check out his hit Moondance
They reacted to that one already.
Raise a Belfast boy on American R&B and that's what you get.
This dude. 'Nuff said.
One day you’re going to do ‘St. Dominick’s Preview’ and you will thank me. ❤❤❤
Yes, Brian McNight did a wonderful job on this song.
Both soooo full of soul.
The Moondance album is one of the best. Every song is great!

The A side of this record, And It Stoned Me, Moondance, this song, Caravan and Into the Mystic possibly the best single album side ever....
There's a ray Charles version featuring Van Morrison that's really awesome
Great shit is early Van. My favourite "Joe Harper Saturday Morning"
Ah right on....

"Sweet Thing" and "Who Drove the Red Sports Car" are favorites
I always thought Van Morrison sings about about a more mature love. That Kenda itself to smooth.
