    I am torn on this game. On the one hand i love the faster paced combat like Witcher and Jedi Survivor and the return of origins. On the other i don't like the lack of Dialogue choices so far and the lack of companion control. At the very least Minrathous looked amazing and the story seems interesting. Im willing to give the game a shot, but I suspect it's going to lose a lot of the rpg mechanics.

    • @CommanderFawkes
      @CommanderFawkes  Месяц назад +4

      Design wise it’s great and fast paced combat could be great if they make every class very unique. I’m ok with the dialogue wheel if it’s impactful to the character pc like how you could mold hawke to be passively sarcastic or aggressive and use that emotion to solve certain dialogue conflicts

    • @GeorgeGale-zs8id
      @GeorgeGale-zs8id Месяц назад +1

      @CommanderFawkes that's true, I hope it's similar to the old Witcher games where each school had a different fighting style for the classes. If rogues are very light and fast and warriors are heavy and tanks, then it could work. Also, the dialogue wheel could be good, like in DA2, but it feels like watching a movie rather than playing a game. It works in games like Jedi Survivor, but I liked the way Witcher 3 did dialogue.

    I had a mixed reaction, but the more I think about it, the more I realize this demo is terribly flawed. And I don't just mean the bug at 7:26 where the veil tear pops out of existence all of a sudden. I mean the severe lack of dialogue choices and player agency. Rook either says things on his own without player input, has three options that boil down to two, or two options that get contradicted anyway by a companion. Also the storyline is bad. Neve was supposed to meet us at the bar, instead she chooses to get captured so she can see who was targeting her. That prevents us from finding Solas faster and saving lives, and we have no dialogue option to call her out on it. And then aside from Solas' terrible carpentry skills, it also makes no sense for Varric to take eight years to find someone Solas doesn't know just to introduce the two of them a few hours later. Remember how your Inquisitor can say to Solas that he doesn't have to destroy this world and he or she will prove it to him? Well too bad. The Inquisitor gets no say in the matter and neither does our new protagonist. And no, it isn't Rook's fault the evanuris were released. The Inquisitor called this back in Trespasser that the false gods would be freed if Solas tore down the veil, and Solas claims he had plans for that. The evanuris being released was always going to happen, even if Solas' ritual went off without a hitch.
    I think a warrior will fit this game best. Just based on the first level, your companions are either two rogues, two rogues and a mage, or one rogue and a mage. Also the new gameplay and combat style seems to favor up-close battle. But I have to wonder, what happens if we try to play solo without any party companions?
    And on the presidents themselves, first let me say I'm proud of Joe for not calling Rook "spook" or "corn-pop" on accident. Also good on Trump for resisting the urge to make a joke about black people toppling historical statues. But I am disappointed in Obama for not admitting that if he had a son, he'd look like Rook, or complimenting him on his awesome domino skills.

    So I’m very hesitant with this game, the tone is just off for something I want from a DA game. I really don’t care for the character intro scenes. It doesn’t really like DA or a BioWare game, more like a hero shooter character trailer.
    But I guess my biggest issue with DA as franchise is it’s not really consistent, whether it’s the series art direction, game (both its dialogue or combat), the games tone. I just think the games change too much from title to title, it makes each entry in the series feel a little disconnected. And I get it’s set in tevinter, but it feels a lot more high fantasy than origins. I hope this little rambling makes sense, I just think Dragon age as a franchise has an identity crisis.
    I am excited for at least watching you play through it but I’m still on the fence on buying it myself. It is cool they’re bringing back origins for the main character. whether they’ll be good, we’ll have to see.
    I hope I wasn’t too much of a Debby downer but from what I saw this isn’t reassuring.

    • @CommanderFawkes
      @CommanderFawkes  Месяц назад +1

      Your takes are valid the gameplay and tone are worrying and Its why I had the boys clown it a little but their are good things shown in this reveal and Its hard to fully caste a official stance until the finished product. If they can bring some themes that made origins a top tier game that will make all the difference as to the future of this amazing series.

      @@CommanderFawkes, and I appreciate them clowning on it. I think it’s just not off to a good start because the art direction and tone is off for me. One the things that made DAO really appealing to me is it was a low dark fantasy. That starts with the art direction to really instill tone.
      I’m also worried that everyone will be using magic. I really like play non magic martial characters that have to overcome magic with their skill and wit. And to see the 1st level rouge using the emperor palpatine’s lighting bolts is kinda worrying. I don’t want my warrior to be jetting like a fragile mage or pounding his great sword in the enemy casting some magical AOE.

    Releasing an AI presidents video on this in a single day is crazy, bro is working overtime.
    Personally, I'm not too bothered by the gameplay changes as long as there are still cool interactions with powers and strategies. My biggest fear with this game was that we wouldn't be able to pause combat to look around and issue commands like in Andromeda. They seem to be scaling back some of the strategy elements, but as long as you have good control over party members (if not direct control) and that enables some cool power combos, I'll be happy. My biggest concern now is that it looks a little like you might only get 3 powers based on the way the UI looks. Massive L if that's the case, but I'll reserve judgement until the game releases and we know for sure.

    I will be honest i was harsh on the trailer. But it seems they kept at least the dark story as we see innocent people getting taken our but what i can only assume are rage demons. But in my opinion. I think the veilguard pride demon fight looked more flashy and a harder fight. But the inquisition pride demon fight shows us that the inquisitor would never truly be alone and would have backup supporting them with all the soldiers and mages being at that location. But having just fought sloth myself i suspect one of those figures and the look at solas’ face tells me that the demon gods are trying to breach the veil. Much like feared tried to do with the wardens. And i suspect the warden will have some words to say about what happened down south.

    What I find the most concerning about ANY new game coming from BioWare is the low expectations that are already set. Even if the new game is DECENT it will still underperform to what the actual audience for these games market to. Look at baldur’s gate, red dead redemption 2, potentially even the newest GTA release, they all have very in-depth gameplay, a cohesive design principles and immersive gameplay. That’s what the average gamer wants these days, just by on the sheer number of sales.
