  • In this episode of Tea60 茶話, we return to the front tea bar at West China Tea with Montsho (@slowhandtea on insta) pouring. Bernie kicks off the conversation with some discussion about "past lives" or "other lives" and quantum timelines, and this leads the group into a longer discussion about layers of social intimacy. How does each person in the group conceptualize their social circles? How many Deep Homies does each participant have and how do they determine who to let into that inner circle? What defines the circles? Later, the group touches on the Chinese Chan (Zen) Buddhist concept of 一次一會 (yī cì yī huǐ, "one time, one meeting"), which illustrates the idea that no two experiences are exactly alike, people and contexts are different with each meeting.

Hey really cool idea but I was thinking that wouldn't it be better if the vr cam was on one of the positions of the customers. That way you can almost think you're having a section together. Then the only thing that remains is finding a way to set and drink tea while using vr goggles...

We've gotten this comment a few times now. Gonna try it out on the next one we film, which I think will be the 6th or 7th one that comes out.

Love the format and just being able to hang with y’all. We don’t have anything like this in Dallas. Makes me miss Austin.

Not in love with this format, and I really prefer spending hours talking about tea, than personal spiritual beliefs.

Appreciate the feedback! Conversations will be different each time and mostly what we're hoping to do is present what conversations at the teahouse are like as an experience. Will certainly still be making the strictly educational content though!

Joining the conversation with some _Zǐ Juān Chá_ (紫娟茶, Purple Grace/Beauty Tea).
10:40~ I've also experienced hypnotherapy before. I'll write down two past lives I've recalled (very long paragraphs below):
In one past life, I was a young proto-man in Africa about 1 million years ago. I hunted down a goat for my tribe, but lost my friend(who is also my friend now), because he was killed by the goat. I brought the kill back, but had to tell the news of my friend's death to his girlfriend(my mother in this current life).
After that, I went completely mad, and went on a journey to deny the fact that a goat took my friend's life. However, the journey availed me little, and I was eaten by a saber-toothed tiger in the end.
In the other past life, I was a Greek man in my 40s, and for some reason, was in ancient Persia (current Middle-East). I was wrongly arrested/accused for robbery and was thrown in jail, for I came across a ravaged safe earlier, and the locals were positive that I was the culprit, judging by my race.
I made three attempts to escape prison and return home; all of which failed, and I was sentenced to death via scaphism, or "the boats". I was forced to drink a mixture of milk and honey, was slathered in said mixture, and was left in a boat near a lake to be eaten alive by insect larvae, vermin, worms, etc.
