This will work much better for Inside Out 3 when Riley reaches high school, this is a perfect scene of the awkward stage between being your middle school childish self and not really quite understanding yet what it takes to be taken seriously as a 'cool' teenager in high school. The transition between middle and high school is very jarring with so many varying age gaps between 9th-12th grade, so this scene should definitely be reworked into Inside Out 3!

I’m very glad that Self Loathing was canned as an emotion, and instead was used as a belief. I find these portrayals of emotions to be super important, as every one of them are well-meaning, and they all help Riley out. It helps dissuade the wrongful idea that it’s bad that you’re feeling these emotions, and that helps every emotion feel a little bit more acceptable. If you made an emotion that was a villain against Riley, instead of an antagonist to other emotions that still wanted to help Riley, like Anxiety, then the film would be perpetrating the idea that it’s bad to feel certain emotions.
An incredible way of putting it. It's why a lot of the conflict is really just miscommunication within the mind. Which is what emotional turmoil basically is anyways, lol.

Space it out 4years, they need to do a Toy Story 3. Inside Out 3 will be when she goes off to college to really perfectly time viewer's feels and experience.
@@Archimedes-v2o By the way, Self-Loathing doesn't appear in the scene. Despite the title of this video, this deleted scene is actually called "Pool Party". However, Anxiety is in this scene, and in this version of the movie, Anxiety later transformed into Self-Loathing.
Oooo I love the original idea of anxiety but I do agree that changing her to chaotic good was perfect I do hope we see some type of character like self loathing though or the pool party scene in a short or next movie, both are really good :)
I'm really glad all of this wasn't apart of the movie. The designs are so less familiar and shapely. The emotions also act a lot like how the first one was written which is a lil dated
Self loathing is such a great emotion for a much bigger Riley, like a college Riley? Also they did great with the Anxiety final design, it just makes more sense than the original design shown here
I feel like all the things they scrapped should be added to the 3rd movie, and the target should be shifted from kids to more pre-teens and teens kinda like Toy Story and show her insecurities aka self loathing on more on herself how SHE looks in the pool when she’s in Highschool like not having the body of more developed girls and kinda emphasize the insecurity teenage girls are feeling nowadays kinda like how they touched on that anxiety topic in the sequel it should’t be the main focus but a good little add on
Im not sure why but I kind of prefer this beta design to what we got in the movie. Don't get me wrong, I can go on and on about how good the official Anxiety design is. She's very adorkable and loveable and it's very refreshing to see anxiety depicted as just a silly messy little pencil topper instead of something scary and intimidating But something about this older design for Anxiety just feels right. Something about her screams "intern businesswoman" which makes her design a very fitting match for parts of the movie where Anxiety is seen constantly working. I would love to see how different scenes with Anxiety would play out with how she is expressed in her design.
Joy was right tho, it’s a pool party. I think jumping in the pool would be a little embarrassing but at the same time, it would make people want to do it too. It is Disney so they won’t show anyone drinking (whats the age demographic of the party anyway??) but that would make people want to jump in more. This was stupid to comment. I love seeing how much care they put into Inside Out. One of my favorite Disney movie franchises
As an anxious wreck, I think it wants to keep you safe, it’s just very over protective. Like a parent that cares SO obsessively that it looms you in your room so you don’t get hurt. It comes from a place of love, but it still ends up hurting you.

i suppose but that implies that self loathing is an emotion to be ashamed of
What's interesting is that "self loathing" IS a cardboard villain. Like hurting yourself like that is a one dimensional hatred
the storyboard artstyle is so cute 😭‼️ feels so familiar
and this scene is so unbelievably relatable
It reminds me of Gravity Falls a little bit
