As a Roman Catholic, I liked this story, and I understand suffering and this is a perfect example. I find that God takes you in a particular manner in order to save your soul. If he sees that person will improve, God will give him time to live. But if God sees that he will become worse, he will take him in order to save his soul.
I had lost someone this I understand.😞
It is precisely this understanding and state of mind, which will help us endure through the horrors and sufferings of life. Let us trust His love and immeasurable goodness for us, and always praise God for ALL things! 🙏

There is this prayer, the Prayer of the Heart, which helps a lot-Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon me, a sinner-but when im distressed i only say Lord have mercy or simply ask God what decision should i make in certain situations-it helps a lot to maintain balance in times of crisis

And indeed if an angel ever accepts your worship or prayers, you can be certain that he's not angel of Heaven but a fallen angel, a demon. (Or Satan himself)

(Angels and demons are glorious and mysterious creatures with great power even beyond our comprehension, intelligence to match, and splendid beauty and awe. Thus people have always been easily led into worshipping them... but it's a BIG no no. Strictly forbidden. Remember they are but creatures after all, created beings.... servants of God, like us... and NOT God! Indeed All their power, beauty, splendor and intelligence combined is as nothing compared to Him.
And importantly... they are not our Creator and they ARE NOT our Saviour! God is. He deserves and has well earned our worship, sole worship! )
Look here in the Book of Revelations for example: When the Apostle John is taken up to Heaven and even he falls down at the sight of the glorious angel escorting him and starts worshipping him... and the angel strongly rebukes him for it!

"At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus." - Revelation 19:10.
Believe me brother it's a clear and well known thing with rock solid Biblical support... You should never worship or pray to angels!
(Not to mention they're not Omnipresent, only God is. They probably can't even gear your prayers unless they're within earshot.)
The same thing goes for worshipping or praying to human beings, dead or living. Even moreso maybe.
And that CERTAINLY includes Mary, for all the Roman Catholics out there!

After listening to so many RUclips 'prophets' whose visions, dreams and prophecies did not come true, I finally surrendered that I only need to trust Jesus. We do not know the grand plan of our King. We sit here and wait and place absolute trust only in our God.

There are indeed many false prophets but there also true ones and one can’t just read the Bible and leave it to your own interpretation. The Holy Fathers of Eastern Orthodoxy and Eastern Orthodox Saints of today guide us in the Scriptures and in prophecy
Hello Ms/Mr Janvier. It’s great that you stopped listening to heretical and demonic prophecies from those supposed “virtuous” people. However there are also true prophecies in Eastern Orthodoxy. Please don’t believe anything prophecy wise unless it is in an audio recording of confirmed by a Bishop. Some prophecies are done by Saint Ephraim of Arizona,Elder Joseph of Vatopedi and St Paisios of Mount Athos.

The Archangel Michael appeared in the physical April 2020, as a huge figure in the sky holding a huge shield, definitely living in Interesting times, read Acts 2:17 for more insights, God bless for sharing this wonderful story.

Just an important remark:
Please make note This is from the ascetic tradition by our holy saint Jerome. for a very specific lesson to his disciples. Some people might argue against it Because God will never pre_judge. that predestination goes against all Orthodox teaching. If Juda himself could have repented but refused out of his free will.

Yeah, definitely should be considered in context and with more abstract meaning of what is being conveyed. Otherwise it is easy to read predestination into the story.

Sure, we should not see predestination here, but a simple message that 'bad events' can be actually for our benefit, even if we don't understand it now. God is not a spectator who lives far away from this world.
Do not just read text but beyond through prayers! God will do what must be done!
@Tobias Chobotuck this story never happened but as i said it was a lesson by saint Jerome to his disciples. We are not in the same spiritual state to understand it.
About the evil of the world it is the human kind doing we are the head of creation and its pinnacle when we sinned and fallen whole creation fell with us thus it is our duty when we sanctify our selves we sanctify the whole creation returning it to its orignal form this can be observed by objects and places sanctified by saints prayer and the bodies of saints that still emit fragrance and gush myrrh and do miracles on instance are the chuckles of saint peter, the holy cross etc

It's a Fairytale told to children to teach them why bad things happen in life. It's not a real story.. Ofc we didn't hear the rest of the preach so don't know where he went with it.
This is a Romanian version of the story written by Mihail Sadoveanu. But it seems there is indeed an older source, related to St Jerome.
I'm from Indonesia (the world's largest Islam country) and I'm shocked to hear about this story.
They copy and edit it with the name of Prophet Khidir who taught Prophet Moses about 3 mysteries. The story is 100% exactly same!!!!
What is the source for this story? This sounds very much like romanticized version of a similar story which St. Nikolai of Zhicha narrated in the Prologue (under the Reflection for November 21).
This one is a Romanian version written about 100 years ago. There might be an older common source for both...

Theres always prisoners.. Its been ages since someone just went and tried to let the prisons consider good behaviour and the elderly or shortening some sentences.. otherwise the prisoners should just put one item in a corner as a hope.. something set as a start of intent..
Whether it be sure to impotence or lack of concern, the fact so many babies die so early in less developed areas of this world demonstrates to me that if there is a god, he either lacks power or compassion.
By definition therefore he is no entity I would worship.

Strange. This story seems to be based on a story about Moses and Khidr found in surah al kahf
I know another version of this story. Same teaching, really(perspective; we don't see the causal chain and the consequences of "bad" actions as God does, so we shouldn't be too quick to judge).
The only weird thing is the baby. It kind of implies predestination.
My precious daughter took her life at twenty three. I have looked back and realised the circumstances that started the wheel turning that ended up destroying her mental health. She was eighteen months at the time and it coincided with the birth of her sister which meant that she would never have the chance to fully recover. I have realised that that period of time and our family circumstances were in a situation that would impede her recovery. So it's not predestination as such. Something happened that ruined her chances of walking out her path. It could be the same with the baby. Something happened where God knew that his chances now of walking out his path were ruined. He wasn't born to be a murderer. But after he was born, Satan had put things in motion that would mean he would end up being a murderer.

But still, any form of predestination still raises questions. If 1. there is an unchanging trajectory for each of us; and 2. God wants everyone to be saved; then how does anyone go to hell?
Why doesn't He just kill everyone at their holiest point in life(like with the baby in the story) so everyone gets to heaven?

So the sole purpose of that baby was to be the lesson itself and through that it was saved. Wouldn't maybe it's parents get accused of infanticide then? Funny how it crossed my mind that the cup was poisoned before it was revealed that it is. The lesson could also be,don't take faith in the words of evil men.
Theres the staged robbery thing.. some works are more valuable after they get stolen once or twice.. other wise.. some heavy brass can feed a small family. But maybe for safety.. let not these things put your lives in danger.. let them know that you have parted your temptations.. in case this becomes a thing, times are desporate,.. depending where you are.

It's not, it's a kind of parable.
In ISLAM, in the Quran Book; the same old story, but in the Quran the 'Hermit' was Moses, 'Michael' was Alexander the Great. The 'burned House was 'a wall' in a village who's occupants did not give food to the travellers. And the a grown-up boy was murdered for the same reason. However in the Quran it still states that Alexander (Thulgarnain) found the Sun setting in a spring of Hot Water! How is that for fiction! Don't look for any teachings other JESUS.
But it is not the will of God to kill even the wicked.
He did not kill the Pharoah son but gave him 7 plagues before that.
Pharoah killed his own son by his choices.
God could have killed King Herod who tried to kill baby Jesus Christ but he did not interfere with herods life or actions. Instead Jesus Christ took refuge in Egypt for 7 yrs. God avoids killing and he does so only after all options are exausted

This is the main reason Human invented God(s).
Humans need to put meaning into things they don't understand.
When they can't obviously find meaning, humans surrender their logic onto some God.
It is a more probable scenario that God doesn't exist, or even if some God(s) exists doesn't mean that behind your suffering there is a reason from above. You are just telling this to yourself to feel better, not because it is true

.........i really really really hate to be that guy but this is almost definitely a loosely Christianized version of an Islamic story. This, if for anyone else this story seems a little...off, that's why. See: Quran, Sura 18:64-82. I am nothing but a random layman and I dare not correct someone who is actual clergy, but i think it's important to note since St. Michael throwing a baby into the water because it will be a murder feels... incorrect and makes more sense when compared to the highly predestination oriented theology of Islam.
So he'll kill my baby because he could become a killer. Isnt that calvinist? Wheres the child's free will? Why didnt the angel influence the kids life for holiness instead of saying "oh another one for the fire". If this is orthodoxy I'm questioning this whole thing.

This is just my view of the story. For God there is only one life no difference in his perspective, second the baby was blessed to enter the gates of heaven before committing any condemnation. Yes we are given free will , God knows where that free will, will take us (unless he interferes). Every act from the seen and unseen need permission from God, in the story the Archangel didn't toucher the baby made its life miserable etc.... This is the best explanation for the things happening today, if you think otherwise be free to explain.

Angels might have a different set of rules since they are involved in creation and interventions with history mainly by messages, the label angels meaning messenger. If their main job was to correct mistakes to affect the timeline they would have been called time lords. It is a possibility because angels ascended and descended Jacobs Ladder which was a type of Jesus and they do appear to know the future in that way.
I read about a former new ager who had a spirit guide who called himself Jesus and had the person doing strange things but after a conviction of the Holy Spirit she asked for the spirits real name and he said Unholy Jesus. So I am thinking to consider our involvement with the world to be using this standard to know if something is of God or not by it’s character.

Ok nice story but God does not do such things. If he did, Hitler and Stalin and Mao would have died as children, good people with a pure heart would not die due to treachery and betrayal, and so forth. Though YHWH knows the future he does not punish one for wrong deeds unless they do the wrong deeds, and even then he is patient and waits for the appointed time before judgment is given. The will of God is simple: love God and love your neighbors. Do good and not evil. Those who choose to do evil are the source of suffering in this world, and their judgment of fire is reserved for the end of days when the most high God returns. And for those whose hearts have been made pure by the lamb, their judgment shall also be on that day, but not one of fire but of victory and eternal life.
This is stupid. If god knows beforehand that an innocent infant would grow up to a murder, then we as humans have no free will. Meaning that god can send souls to heaven and hell before they are even conceived.
Always give a great thanks and all great glory to the good and great God no matter what to come...trust Him, God is Sufficient...
