- HOW to CROCHET SIDEWAYS BLANKET BORDER EDGING - Easy and Simple Crochet Tutorial from Naztazia
Hi I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia. In this video, I'll show you how to crochet the sideways blanket border edging using single crochet stitches. This works up fast and easy and is simple to do.
The pattern consists mostly of chains and single crochet stitches. You can adjust the size of the blanket's border too by making more or less chains for your starting chain.
You can use any weight yarn and its suggested crochet hook with this pattern.
You can find more information on this pattern at:

Did you know I have a newsletter? I send an email out just once a week, usually on a Wednesday, announcing my latest pattern and video. You can get more info here:

Same I tried doing this for the edge of my balaclava and it came out kinda😬 yk lol but I gave it another try and it worked so well 🤭
Wow! So simple! I always messed up and put a SC in the second slip stitch. I could never figure out what I was doing wrong. Thank you!
I love the way you’ve explained this. Especially the corners.
I’m currently finishing up a blanket with the “diamond granny stitch” for my granddaughter and this border will look amazing with it. Thank you again for being a great teacher. I’m loving crochet again.❤

I have tried to master this border before, was never very successful, finally with your video, I was. One of the things I have tried to do is to adjust my stitches to be as loose as yours. I crochet much too tightly, Thank-you!
I love this! Thank you for making it so detailed and easy to follow! 🙂
Glad it was helpful!

Very good explanation. Thank you!
This looks beautiful! This would be a great way to make ribbing for a top-down hat as well. And the mini blanket used as a demonstration in this video looks like it would make a nice place mat.
Adorable 😍🥰 pattern... it's look easy but the corner part is little bit hard...its okay I'll replays your video again and again till I get it... your tutorial always being easy to get it... thanks ma'am for your beautiful ❤️ sharing 👍🏻🤝 love you and God bless you...🌹🙏🌹

TY SO much for this! I made a cardigan and have been wondering how I was going to add this type of border to it without having to sew anything in. This is exactly what I was looking for!
Awesome! 😊
Hi Donna, thank you so much for this informative tutorial 😊 I have worked so many baby blankets which need borders to finalise. I will be using this border which will suit perfectly on some of the blankets. Keep up the good work 💐🤍🙂🇦🇺
You are so welcome!
Thanks ma'am 🥰 I was try to do this but it's not easy for me now you teach then it's like super easy... love you..... God bless you..
Most welcome 😊
Donna 🎉 this is awesomeness and I can’t wait to use this technique! Now to pick what color(s) of yarn! Happy Crochet Hugs!
How wonderful , thank you Donna xx
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just used this as a border on a baby blanket!! Thank you! I found other similar tutorials, but this is the only one I could find where you continued in a curve around the corners! I just wish you had shown on the camera how to join it at the end haha that took me a bit to figure out successfully
I believe at 5:41 in the video it mentions to just sew the ends together. I do have a sewing with crochet video that explains that step.
This looks gorgeous! I am making a large blanket and will use this to finish it off.
Sounds great!
That was awesome. Starting my single crochets now.
Happy to help!

Wonderful! Thankyou 🌺
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. This border is definitely one I plan to use.
I'm sure you get a lot of requests for topics, but I wonder if you would consider doing a session teaching the broomstick crochet method. If you've already done one, I missed it.
I have 3 videos on broomstick lace. 1 showing a blanket, 1 showing a scarf, and the other a faux (fake) broomstick lace that's easy to do and doesn't need a knitting needle. Just youtube search naztazia and broomstick lace
Thank you😍It's very usefull
It's a good idea I like it
Thank you! 😊
Helpful for me .thank u
Thank you 💞
Love this. I'll have to try it on my next blanket. 💙💜
I must use this🎉
You explained this so well. Thank you! I will for sure save this video and use it on my next baby blanket. I do however have a question. In one of your short videos, you were showing us a pair of scissors that don’t cut your work. May I ask where you got them please? Thank you 😊!
Glad you tube has adjustable playback speed.
Thanks for a great video, I love this border! Would it be possible to show or explain how you sew it together so that the join is invisible? Many thanks 😊
I have a sewing with crochet video that explains some invisible joining techniques: ruclips.net/video/plb1nHriu7U/видео.html
Hi Donna! Just saw your Instagram post and rushed over to your RUclips channel. I didn't see it, 😂. Just as I was wondering, notification 🔔 dropped of the tutorial. As usual Donna, brilliant work 👍🏾 👏🏾 ! I love the edging method ❤️❤️❤️. Hmm... 🤔 Would you ever make an adult garment like a skirt, perhaps? 🤷🏾♀️ All the best! 😘
Thank you! I do have quite a few garment patterns scheduled for the near future!
@@naztazia That's wonderful news! I know they will be beautiful coming from you! 🤗
Lovely
Love it ❤️
مبدعه ،👍🙏❤️💚🌹🌹
Thanks so much very pretty god bless
I'm going to use this method for the ribbing around the front and neck of a cardigan. Just wondering how I'm going to do the inverted corners on the neck 🤔 🤔🤔
Hi, I like this technique that you have but i'm going for a more square look instead of rounded edge, is there any way i can modify this for the square look? Thank you!
Wowww
I wanna make sure I got this right. It looks like u slst into one stitch and then started your sc in the next stitch (this being the base going around) and when u got back around u made your corner into the same stitch that you made the slst and then slst into the first sc to join. I’m still new to borders and I really want to get this down.
Is there a link to the pattern of just the sideways blanket?
Hi! Would this method work with hdc (US)?
What if you get to the 3 corner stitches and you’re on the outside working in?
Do you have a maximum recommendation on how long the chain should be? I'm trying to find a good border for a blanket, and wondered if 10 or even 20 sc would work.
It's more of a personal taste thing. My photo sample at the very beginning and very end is 10 chains and 9 single crochet stitches. To me, that's an average-sized border on an average-sized blanket. I could see it being 20 chains too, and still look nice.
@@naztazia Thank you :) I was worried it'd stretch as it fanned out
Can you use this technique on a sweater ?
Yes, absolutely! I've used this technique on both crochet and knitted sweaters.
@@naztazia I’m 3/4 done and loving it. Thank you!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
I have just finished this and is way to small.
The lady who wrote the pattern says it will ruffle if you try to make it bigger.
Could l do a wide border or something that will not ruffle.
Any help appreciated
Are you talking about one of my patterns? Or someone else's? Because with my method shown in the video, you can make this as wide of a border as you want. There shouldn't be any ruffle involved.
Does anyone know the name of the stitch on the blanket? Thank you
It's the crochet moss stitch for the gray part.
🥰
